Chapter 639
Chapter 639
Hera could relate to this. Daphne never told her the truth and didn't want to involve her either. Daphne even went as far as sending Hera to her grandmother's house, facing everything alone...
"But I think you know who it is," Xavier suddenly said.
"Me?" Hera was confused.
Xavier nodded. "Yes!"
Hera looked at him suspiciously, waiting for him to continue. How could she possibly know?
Instead of explaining, Xavier grabbed her hand and asked, "Can you promise that you'll find the real culprit behind my father's death if I tell you everything I know?"
He had agreed to his mother's request to feign madness for years. But it wasn't just to survive in the Killian family. He couldn't stand the idea that his father died but the culprit still roamed free. Even an innocent person was framed.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Hera could feel the intensity of his grip. It seemed he was entrusting her with his burdens. She nodded solemnly," I promise!"
She was determined to clear Lucius' name and uncover the mastermind behind Daphne's death, bringing them all to justice!
"Alright, I trust you!" Xavier released her hand. He placed the thermos container on the table and opened it. Inside was a lumpy mess.
Hera eyed the insides of the container suspiciously.
Xavier lifted the gooey mess out, revealing a layer of flour underneath. He reached into the flour and pulled out a pouch, inside of which was a phone.
Hera was amazed. As expected of Xavier, always so cautious.
He turned on the phone, disconnected the data and GPS, then opened the photo album. He handed it to Hera." These are photos I secretly took of Uncle Lucius' case files."
Seeing how careful he was, Hera wasn't surprised why she had been unable to find any information from him. Even the most skilled hackers couldn't access a device that was both offline and powered down.
Hera wanted to transfer the photos to her computer to examine them, but Xavier wouldn't allow it. She had to review the photos on his phone.
The photos were of documents from the crime scene. All the evidence pointed to Lucius as the murderer. In the end, Lucius gave up on hiring a lawyer to defend him. He accepted the trial and went to prison.
But looking at these photos, Hera couldn't see why Xavier was sure she would know who the real killer was. "I've examined these photos and found two pieces of evidence that weren't listed," Xavier said as he leaned in and opened another folder, pulling up a specific photo.
The image showed a cabinet under a table at the crime scene. The door was slightly ajar, and a small clip had fallen out. There were also marks beside the table legs, indicating it had been moved.
"This photo was taken by a detective Aunt Daphne hired after the crime. It's not mentioned in the police files, and the evidence has disappeared." Xavier zoomed in on the small pink clip.
"Does this clip look familiar to you?" He turned to Hera.
Hera found the clip familiar. When she was younger, Daphne used to buy her sparkly and princess-like clips that went with her dresses.
And that cabinet was one of her favorite hiding spots when she played hide-and-seek with Lucius...
Could it be...
Realization struck Hera, and her eyes widened in shock.
