The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 151 Flowers Sprayed with Anesthetic

Jasper's case was a big deal, but Allison wanted no part of it. There were people and things she just didn't want to think about anymore.

To her surprise, Cameron strolled into her hospital room like he owned the place.

"Ms. Bennett, I heard you got hurt, so I thought I'd drop by," Cameron said, holding a bouquet of flowers.

Allison looked at him, taking in his casual smile, and couldn't help but admire his nerve.

"You always seem to know everything, Cameron. Are you sure you're just here to visit?" Allison asked.

Cameron grinned and set the flowers on the bedside table.

Allison caught a whiff of the flowers, her brow furrowing. Without a second thought, she got out of bed, grabbed the bouquet, walked to the window, and tossed it out.

Cameron raised an eyebrow and smirked at her. "Are you really that worried I'd harm you?"

Allison turned and sat cross-legged on the bed. "Of course you would. Who else would put anesthetic in the flowers?"

Her words made Cameron laugh, a loud, almost maniacal sound. "Allison, I'm actually here to thank you. Thanks to you, my biggest threat is gone. To show my gratitude, I can offer you a huge deal. Accept it, and you'll get five hundred million dollars!"

Allison knew exactly what Cameron's so-called big deal entailed, so she refused without hesitation. "I'm not interested, thanks. Mr. Simmons, I heard you're quite skilled. Why don't you just take on this order yourself? Doing it yourself would save money, wouldn't it?"

At her words, Cameron's expression turned serious. "Allison, I've looked into it. No one else can crack that code but you."

"So you tried and failed," Allison said confidently. Cameron's silence was an admission.

In the hacker world, beyond making money, there was the thrill of victory. Cracking a code that others couldn't was a badge of honor, a way to prove superiority. Many hackers took jobs not for the money, but for the challenge.

But Allison was different. She got into this line of work for the money, and that hadn't changed.

"Don't you want to give it a try?" Cameron tried to tempt her, but Allison wasn't biting.

"No. If it can't be cracked, all the better. It means you can't turn it into a weapon. Mr. Simmons, a word of advice: you'd better get back to Astoria before the authorities here figure out who you really are. Otherwise, you might not get another chance to leave," Allison said.

Allison's advice was genuine, but someone like Cameron wouldn't give up easily.

"Allison, do you think you can scare me off? I'm not leaving until I get what I want. I know how skilled you are, and I know you've got a powerful man backing you. But so what? Getting to you is child's play. I'm giving you three days to think it over. If you refuse, I'll take matters into my own hands. And just so you know, I'm far more ruthless than Wayne," Cameron declared.

After the chemical plant explosion, Wayne had disappeared. Seeing Cameron's confident demeanor, Allison felt a pang of fear.

"You've got Wayne, don't you?" she asked.

Cameron's smile widened. "You're a smart girl. I like dealing with smart people. If we join forces, we'd be unstoppable. Think about it, I can take you to the top!"

His arrogance was almost laughable. Allison couldn't help but chuckle.

Cameron noticed the disdain and mockery in her eyes, and his expression darkened. Just as he was about to approach Allison, the door to the hospital room swung open, and Alexander walked in.

Without hesitation, he walked over and punched Cameron right in the eye.

Allison's lips twitched in a mix of surprise and admiration. Damn, that was hot.

The commotion drew the attention of the bodyguards outside, who rushed in only to face Alexander's wrath. "What did I tell you? No one gets in here without my permission. How the hell did a stranger get past you?" The bodyguards, visibly shaken, knew their jobs were on the line. Working for Alexander came with top-tier pay and benefits, and losing this gig would be a huge blow.

Cameron, reeling from the punch, sprang up and lunged at Alexander. Two bodyguards stepped in and subdued Cameron in no time, dragging him out. Alexander checked on Allison. "Are you okay?"

Allison shook her head and pointed outside. "The flowers he brought contain anesthetic. Get someone to retrieve and dispose of them." Alexander nodded and reassured Allison before stepping out.

Upon seeing Cameron, Alexander kicked him hard in the stomach. "How dare you drug Allison? You're asking for trouble! Take him away!" The bodyguards took Cameron away.

Alexander then returned to the ward and discussed with Allison whether she should be discharged.

Allison was a bit resistant to the suggestion. "Is it really okay for me to go to the Carter Manor? I don't want to trouble anyone, especially your family."

Alexander shook his head, "Trust me, they'll be thrilled to have you. Plus, think about Liliana and Jessa. They've been preparing all our meals. We can't keep troubling them..." Allison sighed, shooting Alexander a look of mild annoyance.

"Fine, let's go," she agreed, albeit reluctantly.

Once Allison agreed, Alexander quickly handled the discharge paperwork.

When they arrived at the Carter Manor, the whole family was at the gate to welcome them.

"Allison, we've been waiting for you! How are you feeling?" Aiden beamed, his smile stretching from ear to ear.

Mia rushed forward to take Allison's hand, but Aiden gently pulled her back. "Calm down, Mia. Alexander, carry Allison upstairs. She needs to rest."

Carry her? Alexander sighed but complied, scooping Allison up in his arms.

Allison rolled her eyes, clearly exasperated. "I can walk on my own, you know!"

Alexander chuckled, "I know, but I like carrying you."

The Carters looked on with a mix of amusement and genuine happiness.

When they reached the upstairs bedroom, Allison realized it was Alexander's room.

"I'll stay in the guest room next door. This room is for you. I know you need a quiet place to study. There's a small study here, perfect for you," Alexander explained, trying to gauge Allison's reaction. When she didn't respond immediately, he felt a bit anxious. "If you don't like it, we can find another room."

"I think I'd be better off sharing a room with Mia," Allison suggested. Staying in Alexander's room felt like intruding on his territory, which made her uneasy.

As soon as Allison finished speaking, the door swung open, and Mia burst in.

"Really? Stay with me? That's awesome! Come on, Allison, let me show you my room!" Mia said, dragging Allison away.novelbin

Alexander watched them leave, feeling a bit helpless.
