Chapter 1952
In the end, Marie did not say much as some things were perhaps better left unsaid. However, she did reveal that her main reason for joining the game was the money so that she could be 'free'. Sven tactfully did not press the topic further.
The fire's warmth made the both of them tired. Seeing Marie struggle to stay awake, Sven gently said, "Sleep. I'll keep watch."
"But you need to rest too... I'm fine, I can still hold on..." Marie said, yawning three or four times in quick succession.
Noticing her determination, Sven came up with an idea.
"How about we take turns keeping watch, then?" Sven suggested. "That way, we can both rest. You sleep first, and when I'm too tired, I'll wake you up. Does that sound okay?" "Alright," Marie agreed reluctantly but decided to go along with Sven's sincerity and settled down to sleep.
When she opened her eyes again, it was already morning.
Time seemed to flow differently here compared to the outside world, or perhaps this was the real world's time flow.
The moment Nash touched the glowing orb, memories of the people killed on the island immediately rushed through his mind. While in a daze, the image of the God of Equilibrium
with his scales appeared before him. This time, Nash stood on one side of the scales while an image modeled after him stood on the other.
"Are you the God of Equilibrium?" Nash looked at the towering figure before the scales disdainfully. "Are you also a god of the West?" "And who are you?" Balans asked.
"My name is Nash Calcraft, and you best remember it, for it will be the name of the one who ends your ridiculous game!" Nash was already fed up with this Heaven and Netherworld game as people were constantly encouraged to kill each other. Were humans simply tools for this god's amusement?
"Ridiculous? Then what's interesting to you?" Balans suddenly asked.
Nash was momentarily taken aback by the question but responded with disgust, "What does your so-called balance mean? A balance of mutual slaughter? Or is it the balance of us being subjected to your divine power?" "Survival of the fittest, natural selection-is that not balance?" Balans countered. "You find things unbalanced because you're weak. The truly strong do not complain about changes in their environment; they adapt to it." "So, according to you, a world of only the strong is balance?"
"No, this world will never lack the weak, nor will there only be those who are strong. They alternate under the guidance of balance. That is what natural balance is."
"Enough!" Nash shouted. "Your
definition contradicts your own
balance. How can a scale ever truly be balanced when a divine hand is upon it? Humans may indeed be insignificant, but if we unite, the power we possess will be enough to shake the scales!"
Balans suddenly looked at Nash with great interest Then, Balans closed his divine eyes, and the cave began to shakeviolently. Nash woke up and the fight that had been draining his true energy suddenly dissipated, revealing a pearl the size of a walnut.
Nash quickly grabbed the pearl and stuffed it into his pocket. He then hastily carried Alfius on his back and dashed out of the cave. Just as they exited, the cave, along with the entire mountain peak, began to shake violently. The mountain eventually collapsed.
After it did, the voice of the God of Equilibrium echoed again.novelbin
"Nash Calcraft has obtained the treasure, but if any of you manage to take it from him today, you'll be granted a wish. His current location and appearance have been transmitted to your bracelets. Now, the new phase of the hunt begins." Hearing that, Nash felt a surge of frustration and anger.
"Damn it! You play dirty."
"Nash, I will show you that without true unity, people always prioritize their interests. When they tear you apart, that will be the only moment they are truly united."
"You son of a-"
Suddenly, an arrow flew toward him, and Nash quickly dodged.
"Damn, they're already here." Nash was shocked at how fast they had come and glanced at Alfius again.
