Chapter 300
Chapter 300
When Liam got back, Celeste was already in bed, with only a warm yellow light left on in the room.
He took off his coat and threw it on the couch, then sat down on the bed.
Even with her back to him, Celeste could feel Liam’s gaze.
She frowned, feeling quite annoyed.
The faint scent of perfume on Liam was exactly the same one Sydney wore.
Having just chatted with Mason and been reminded of some unpleasant past, she was already irritated. Smelling the scent on Liam made her
even more so.
She didn’t know how long it had been when Liam lifted the covers, grabbed her wrist, and just as she was about to struggle, she felt that he applied a cool liquid to her wrist.
Celeste paused for a moment, then pulled her hand back.
It seemed Liam already knew she wasn’t asleep. Seeing her pull back her hand, he said casually, ‘I thought you will keep pretending to sleep.”
Celeste gritted her teeth, “I wasn’t pretending to sleep! How could I sleep well with you touching me like that?”
Liam’s mouth twitched, “I was applying medicine!”
Celeste snorted, “By the time your medicine arrives, my wounds would have already healed.”
Liam…
Liam then noticed the medicine oil on the bedside table, identical to the one in his hands.
He frowned, “Did you go see a doctor?”
“No,” Celeste wrapped herself tighter in the blanket, “Mr. Fletcher brought it over.”
Liam’s eyes darkened.
“Why did he come over to give you medicine?”
That comment made Celeste laugh in anger, “Weren’t you visiting Ms. Denton? So, you can care about others, but I can’t have people caring for me?”
Liam’s face darkened, “You’re the one who pushed her into the water, and you’re arguing with me?”
Celeste looked at him, “Did Sydney tell you I pushed her?”
Liam didn’t answer.
Sydney didn’t say it herself, but at the time, not only did Mrs. Kelley see it, but several other people on the ship saw Celeste kick Sydney.
Seeing him not answering, Celeste said coldly, “I see, Mr. Reed came back to avenge Ms. Denton. Yes, I pushed her into the water. No, to be more precise, I kicked her.”
Liam frowned, “Why did you do that?”
“No reason, I just hate her. Is that enough?”
“What kind of attitude is that?” Liam was annoyed, “If someone had exposed you on the ship just now, you’d be facing legal trouble!”
Celeste scoffed, “Are you trying to say you went to see Sydney to make her not press charges? Should I be grateful and thank you?”
“Celeste!”
“Don’t lecture me, I don’t need you to take care of my business, and I don’t need you to take care of me. If she’s got what it takes, let her sue me,
I’m not afraid of her!”
Liam was so angry, he gritted his teeth, “I really should just leave you alone!”
Why did he even bother getting someone to hack the surveillance? He was still concerned about her injuries and even got her medicine. Yet, she didn’t appreciate it at all and only knew how to provoke him.
Celeste wrapped herself in the blanket, “Who asked you to care about me? If you want to help Sydney, just throw me into the water. If you don’t, then don’t disturb my sleep.”
After saying that, she put on her eye mask and ignored Liam.
Liam slammed the door and left.
Celeste didn’t care where he went to sleep, she wouldn’t care even if he went to sleep with Sydney.
Celeste thought that since she had been sleeping all day, she wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. But not long after Liam left, she fell asleep.
Liam really was bad luck. With him around, even the quality of her sleep got worse.
However, this peace only lasted for two hours. A storm suddenly struck in the middle of the night.
15:16
Thunder rumbled outside, and the waves rocked the cruise ship. Celeste was shaken awake.
The items in the room were scattered all over the place as the ship rocked. Everything on the table had fallen to the floor.
An announcement came over the speakers, reminding everyone to close their doors and windows, put on life jackets, and fasten their seat belts on the safety chairs.
Worried about Grandpa David, Celeste put on a coat and prepared to go out.
But before she reached the door, there was a sudden power outage, and the room was plunged into darkness.
She could only use her phone for light. Suddenly, the ship lurched violently, and she slipped, her knee hitting the table. The pain made her let go of her phone, which fell to the floor and turned off.
The room was instantly plunged into darkness again.
Unable to find the safety chair, Celeste was tossed about like a floating weed with the rocking of the ship.
She didn’t know how many times she had been hit, and when she finally fell, she managed to grab the leg of the safety chair. She knelt down, holding onto the chair leg for dear life.
Rainwater on the glass was constantly slapped by the wind, making a loud noise, and occasionally, there was a sound like some creature’s roar. In the dark room, these sounds were incredibly terrifying.
Celeste’s palms began to sweat, and her face turned pale. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Just then, the cabin door was pushed open, and a flash of lightning streaked across the night sky. Celeste looked up and saw the silhouette of someone at the door. Her tears flowed, and she whispered, “Liam…”
