Chapter 1298
Rosa was genuinely devoted to Joe. Having given so much, she didn't want to end up losing both her heart and her wealth.
Joe snapped out of his wandering thoughts, looked down at Rosa, and asked, "Why are you afraid?"
"Because I feel like your heart is no longer with me. We used to share everything and do everything together, but now your distance makes me feel like we're worlds apart."
Rosa struggled to put her thoughts into words, fearing that saying too much might push Joe further away.
Joe gently pushed her aside and walked further inside, pouring himself a glass of water. While drinking, he carefully observed Rosa's reaction.
Since their trip to Jipsburg, her behavior had been peculiar.
"We've been through a lot together. There's no need for you to overthink. Now, tell me about the past," he said.
Rosa's eyes widened at that. "Why are you suddenly curious about the past? You said before that you weren't interested in it. Sometimes, you didn't want to know even when I tried to talk about it."
Joe's tone was calm. "That was before. Now, I want to know."
"In the past... we didn't have much money. During the toughest times, we even slept on the streets. We..." Rosa kept her account vague, avoiding any specific details about where and what they had been through.
Joe squinted slightly. He had no memory of the past she spoke of and didn't feel the need to dig any deeper.
Meanwhile, Simona had brought Stephen to a high-class restaurant for a meal. It was their first time going there together.
Previously, their dates were limited to movie theaters, local restaurants near school, or short trips in the area.
Today, the restaurant they visited was one she often frequented with her brother.
Stephen seemed somewhat out of place there.
"Are you not used to this? If you're uncomfortable with the food
we could go to the restaurant next door Simona asked, her tone gentle and considerate. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Being in such an unfamiliar environment, Stephen indeed felt a bit uneasy, even slightly out of place. He had never set foot in such establishments before.
However, he knew that he would eventually have to get accustomed to places like this and even more exclusive settings. So, he shook his head and said, "Let's stay here."

He then watched as Simona effortlessly placed their order, choosing several dishes that, to him, seemed extraordinarily expensive without batting an eye.
After she was done, Simona handed the menu to Stephen. "See if there's anything else you'd like. I just ordered my favorites."
Taking the menu, Stephen noticed the prices and felt his hand start to tremble slightly as he held it.
He had heard his classmates
mention this restaurant before. It was known for its outrageous prices and was frequented only by people was from a social class they couldn't touch.
The fact that a place he wouldn't dare to visit was one Simona frequented made his heart tremble uncontrollably.
