Chapter 25 You Are Injured
Upon hearing what Sadie said, Vivian was dissatisfied. She frown and said, "Some retouching will do."
This was how they usually did. If they really served a cup of hot tea, it would pose a danger on the safety of the actors.
It was just a minor part of the shooting. There was no need to be so serious.
Sensing the director's hesitation, Sadie chuckled. "I've always heard that you are very strict when it comes to shooting. Now, it seems like that's not the case."
"Sadie, what are you trying to say?" Vivian was starting to get annoyed with her. She was just an agent. How could she question the director just because her artist knew a lot of people?
"I mean, I hope you could at least be serious about this."novelbin
Sadie gazed at Daryl and the hero, and then faced Vivian. "After all, Lucy has made great contribution to the investment of the play. Director Gu, you wouldn't want to disappoint the sponsor over such a small detail, right?" Upon hearing this, Vivian frowned. Indeed, a rich man had invested in the play. But how could that have anything to do with Lucy? Was he Lucy's sugar daddy?
The thought made Vivian hesitate.
The original director was Jackson, and he got replaced because he offended Daryl. But Vivian had no idea about this. She unintentionally heard the producer calling the one investing in the play and found the man was Zack. Vivian wasn't able to hear the producer's words clearly, but she heard enough to know that Zack pulled strings for an actress. She wondered if she was Lucy.
Seeing the hesitation on Vivian's face, Sadie knew that her words had worked. Smiling, she said, "Director Gu, you should always have a good grasp of the situation."
She then left.
Vivian took a look at Daryl's direction and whispered something to her assistant.
The assistant went to inform the stage crew.
The second shooting started. When Daryl held the teacup in her hand, she was surprised. The tea was really hot.
Despite this, she didn't stop or hesitate. She brought the tea to the table and presented it to the emperor.
As scripted, the emperor suddenly flew into a fit and hurled the teacup in front of him.
The teacup hit Daryl's arm. Its contents, still scalding hot, spilled on her arm, making it turn red in an instant.
She endured the pain and showed the panic and fear that was expected of the maid. She was acting her part really well.
Vivian took a close-up of her arm and the expression on her face. Daryl then stood up and left the palace. The scene was finally over.
After the scene was finished, Sofia ran to Daryl. She took a closer look at Daryl's scalded arm and frowned. "What's going on? Why was the water so hot?" She was only gone for a few moments and Daryl was hurt like this! "It's okay."
Daryl shook her head. "Besides, the scene is over already."
"Stay here and rest! I'll be back in a bit."
Sofia hurriedly went out to buy medicine for the scalding.
Not long after she had left, the assistant director came over.
"Daryl, Director Gu asked me to give this to you.
Apply this on your arm first. If it is serious, you can ask for leave and go to the hospital."
"Okay, thank you."
Daryl took the ointment and thought of what happened. She didn't know what the director was thinking. Generally speaking, in this kind of scene, there was no need to use hot tea. Maybe the director was just very picky and had morbid standards. It was inconvenient for her to apply the ointment right now, so she had to put it aside.
Unknown to her, the assistant director ran to a different direction.
"Lucy, I've given the ointment to her, just as you instructed."
The assistant director hesitatingly looked at the actress.
A smile played at the corners of Lucy's mouth. "Very good. The money has already been wired to your account. Just shut your mouth."
"I know. Thank you, Lucy!"
The assistant director went back to work.
Lucy went back to her dressing room. She fixed her makeup before gracefully walking back to the set.
When she saw Sofia applying the ointment on Daryl's arm, a disdainful glint flashed across her eyes. They said that Daryl and Sofia were invincible back then.
But it turned out the two of them were so naive.
Vivian finished several scenes throughout the day. Since there wasn't any night scene, there was no need for the staff to work overtime.
Sofia volunteered to take Daryl home. As soon as they arrived at the gate of Zack's villa, Sofia couldn't help but get shocked.
"Oh my God, Daryl. I've known that Zack is rich, but I wasn't aware that he is this rich! He must be very low-key."
Daryl nodded. "He really is low-key."
Although he was overbearing and possessed a sharp tongue, he didn't show off his wealth.
Sofia left for home after dropping her there.
When Daryl entered the villa, she saw a man with the same built as Dillon coming out.
She had a vague memory of him. His name seemed to be Rollins.
Hello, Mrs. Ji. Rollins greeted her and left without waiting for her response.
Daryl shrugged and entered the living room.
"Mommy, you're finally back!"
Benjamin had been so bored at home. He wanted to go to Daryl, but he was stopped by Zack.
Seeing Benjamin made Daryl feel a lot better. "Bennie, Mommy is back."
Benjamin jumped off the sofa and ran towards her. "Mommy, hug!"
He stretched out his arms, preparing to be held, but he accidentally touched Daryl's arm. This made her scream in pain.
Benjamin's face instantly changed. He nervously looked at Daryl and asked, "Mommy, what's wrong? Are you hurt?"
"No, Bennie."
Seeing how the boy cared so much about her, Daryl's heart couldn't help but be touched. She smiled and assured him, "Mommy is just a little tired. Don't worry okay?" She didn't to show pain in front of the child, but Benjamin was too smart!
Before she could even finish her words, Benjamin lifted her sleeve.
"Mommy, you're really hurt!"
The boy's handsome face, almost a carbon copy of Zack's, was full of worry and pain. "I'll take you to the hospital!" "Thank you, but there's no need."
Daryl's wound was already treated. She held Benjamin's hands and stopped him. "Bennie, Mommy is fine. Really. So don't worry okay?"
"This is all my fault."
A trace of guilt flashed over Benjamin's beautiful eyes. He should've sent someone to protect his mother!
