Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 410
Chapter 410 Clarissa’s Mind Was In Disarray
There was only one class every week for the module, which was Theory of Accounting.
Aside from working as an assistant lecturer and postgraduate supervisor, Clarissa still had to publish
her article. As of now, her life was hectic but productive.
One day, one of her mentees, Lisa Henson, asked her, “Miss Johnson, do you want to watch the
basketball match with me later? It’s a state challenge involving all the universities in Florin.”
“I still have a meeting to attend in the evening. Thank you for the offer, though,” Clarissa rejected
politely.
“Alright. If you ever change your mind, I still have your ticket, okay?”
“Thank you.” Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
This evening, she had a meeting with Eden Investment. The agenda was to discuss investment
strategies and the client requirements in terms of investment pathway and fund value.
Since Eden Investment still hadn’t disclosed information about their clientele to her, Clarissa didn’t
know who she was meeting later.
After changing into a white shirt and work dress, she headed to the conference room.
“Miss Johnson, New East Corporation will be jointly investing with Eden Investment in this project. We
didn’t disclose the information to you before due to some confidentiality issues. The documents are all
on the table now. Please read through it,” said Charles, who was sitting
at the main seat of the conference room.
There was only one vacant seat in between President Benson and Clarissa.
Clarissa’s mind buzzed from the shock. She couldn’t register that information.
However, the name New East Corporation rang loud and clear to her.
The reason she had left Genovia for so long was because she had been extremely disappointed in
Damien. The second reason was that she didn’t want to expose her son Neil to danger
anymore.
If her sacrifice meant that Neil’s safety was guaranteed, she felt that it was all worth it.
Who knew Eden Investment would be in a joint investment scheme with New East? It was such a
terrible coincidence!
Driven by curiosity, she was tempted to ask for the person who would be coming to the meeting later.
However, she knew that it would be strange to ask something like that out of the blue.
Thus, she had no choice but to pour through the documents.
Her hands were sweaty from nervousness. Just then, she noticed someone entering the conference
room. President Benson stood up to welcome the person in a hurry. Then, he reached out and shook
his hand.
“Greetings, Mr. Conrad. Please sit,” Charles said.

“Hello, President Benson,” the man replied.
With her back facing the two of them, Clarissa couldn’t see who exactly was behind her. But the
moment she heard the name ‘Mr. Conrad’, she instantly knew that Charles was talking to Ray. Since
Ray was the director of finance at New East, it was only natural for him to attend. the conference to
discuss issues regarding investments.
Ray walked to the table. He still hadn’t spotted Clarissa yet.
“Mr. Conrad, let me introduce you to my employees. This is my deputy…” President Benson pointed to
the person standing beside him.
With her heart drumming against her chest, she pretended to flip through the documents once again.
At this point, Ray had finally noticed her. He stared at her in shock.
“This person here is our newly appointed independent director, Miss Johnson.” Charles pointed at
Clarissa’s seat.
Although Clarissa felt extremely awkward and nervous, she still put on a calm and composed
appearance as she nodded politely at Ray.
Ray, on the other hand, stared at her in complete disbelief. For a while, he stood there motionless. It
was as if he couldn’t believe his eyes.
He didn’t even listen to what Charles was saying afterward, and merely nodded vaguely at the latter.
After they exchanged greetings, they delved straight into the agenda for today.
Each and every department presented their PowerPoint slides one by one as they proposed the
industries that were worth investing in.
Ray listened silently to their presentations. Occasionally, he would glance at Clarissa.
After a few hours of discussion, they still couldn’t reach a final decision.
“I have to thank everyone here for doing such comprehensive research and gathering this information
for us today. I will present the report of today’s discussion to President Lawrence once I head back.
Next time, we will attend the follow-up meeting together.” At the mention of President Lawrence, Ray
even stole a glance at Clarissa before turning away.
Clarissa had her eyes locked on the documents on hand. When she heard Damien’s name, her heart
jumped in shock.
She didn’t want Damien to know how she was doing at all.
After the meeting, Ray bid farewell to Charles and left.
Clarissa thought Ray would chat with her for a while, but he didn’t stay.
The reason Ray hid the fact that they knew each other was probably because he wanted to maintain
professionalism at work. However, it was also possible that he didn’t want to reveal her complicated
past with Damien to everyone.
At this moment, Clarissa’s mind was in disarray. She didn’t know what to think anymore.
