Her Glamorous Beauty

Best sidekick

Wen and Kwan have been best friends since childhood. There were a lot of troubles that they encountered together, but there was a certain point in Kwan’s life when he told Wen that she was his best sidekick.

“I didn’t mean it! I didn’t mean it!” Kwan’s mind was screaming as he ran down the riotous road, thinking about what doom was waiting for him.

“What did you do to your brother?” Dianne, Kwan’s mother, screamed, seeing her son in a pitiable situation; she got near and cuddled him in a shivering manner.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Kwan stabbed Melbourne, his brother, with a knife almost ten times from the back; the blood spurted out of his body like a shower shedding down the innocent floor.

He made certain that he would be unable to fight back and would most likely perish at the hands of death. He was so mad that his rational mind didn’t work and his emotions took control of him.

It started when he felt uncomfortable with him; he always contradicts his decisions, not just inside their house but even outside. There were many times that he got punched by him, and he was trying to prevent himself from fighting back.

However, everything comes to an end. He could not accept all the mistreatment and pain he gave him, so he decided to change and take the most unforgivable path.

Following that, a swarm of cops pursued him, threatening to throw him inside the jail if he was apprehended. As he continued running, there was a red car passing by the red light, so he jumped in the open window and rode on with someone.

“Who are you?” The woman asked. Her voice was serene, like a river. “And why are those cops chasing you?”

Kwan didn’t know who that woman was, but he was thankful that she became a way for him to escape. Although her voice was really different from her face, he knew he couldn’t judge her but be thankful instead.

“Why do you need to know? It’s not your business anymore, so don’t intrude your ugly face with it,” Kwan said in a mad manner.

“If that’s so, then get out!” The woman yelled as she stamped on the brake and the car suddenly stopped.

Kwan stepped out and slammed the door. He remembered how disrespectful to everyone he was, but as he grew old, his demeanour changed and became chivalrous.

From then on, he didn’t want to remember how his life was, those crimes he committed, and those people who were affected. He was thankful that his family could accept him again regardless of everything.

However, that wasn’t the last time she met the woman who helped him escape those cops. Besides, there were a lot of times that followed, and they even became friends.

“What are you doing here?” Kwan asked as he approached Wen, who was looking at the garden again. “You’re not with Lando?”

“No, I’m not. He probably gave up already. He didn’t even let me borrow his phone. How can I trust a man like that?” Wen replied while holding a cup of coffee.

“Why won’t you try having a boyfriend?” Kwan asked. “It’s been a long time since our first meeting, but you really didn’t change. You’re still a single, bunny girl until now.”

“Stop insulting me, Kwan. I remembered that day when you entered our car without asking mom’s permission. I thought you were a criminal, and I wasn’t wrong.”

“We were just seventeen when we first met, but I’m not withdrawing my words that you’re my best sidekick. You were always there whenever I was in trouble. Even if it was accidental, you always helped me,” Kwan said.

“If it wasn’t because of my mother’s wish, I didn’t befriend you. But because she told me you were so lonely-she still wanted to help you though you were rude to her,” Wen said as she reminisces about those moments when they were teens.

That was the time when they both wanted to grow old quickly because they felt like life was so bad for them. But now they realize that they shouldn’t have wished to grow older because life isn’t so easy for adults.

“If your mom’s still alive, I don’t know what she would say about the kind of man I became. After that tragedy, I never became who I used to be, but still, I want to thank you for accepting me as who I am, as your friend,” Kwan said in a thankful tone.

“That’s enough. You’re so dramatic as always every time we talk about the past. Time is really quick. I don’t know how we became like this. You’re now getting married,” Wen sighed.

“Why? Don’t you want me to get married?” Kwan asked. “I’m so sorry if you’ve been single until now, but I can’t avoid being married, especially now that Rebecca is bearing our child.”

“What!?” Wen accidentally choked her coffee after hearing Kwan’s word. She was thinking that perhaps they could stay longer like this, but those dreams suddenly disappeared.

“Yes, we are-we are having a kid. Rebecca is pregnant, and I can’t wait to see our child grow. Would you like to be its godmother?” Kwan asked happily.

Wen realized that she could never have Kwan as her husband, or even just a boyfriend. She knew from the start that he only considered her a friend, and he never showed any sign that he loved her more than that.

“Are you okay, Wen?” Kwan asked when he noticed that Wen was lulled after hearing him. “Just tell me if you don’t want to be my child’s godmother; I’ll just ask someone else.”

“No, I agree to be your child’s godmother if that will make you happy,” Wen replied in a sad tone. “I will always support you with the things that make me happy, even if they break my heart. I’ll still love you with the broken pieces.”

“What are you talking about? Are you drunk, Wen?” Kwan asked as he looked at his best friend’s face. He saw for the first time that she was blushing.

Kwan doesn’t know why his best friend sounds sad and drunk. He couldn’t understand his behavior lately. He also noticed that every time he’s with Rebecca, she doesn’t want to stay, as if she were avoiding them. But now, perhaps he has found out why.

Wen slowly pushed her face near Kwan’s, who also closed his eyes, expecting something to arrive. But that mistake didn’t happen when Rebecca interrupted.

“Hey! Are you trying to kiss my fiance?” Rebecca asked dubiously.

“No, of course not,” Wen denied. “We’re just talking about him being a father to your future child. He just told me you’re pregnant.”

Rebecca stepped closer to them. She’s been dubious about what exactly Kwan and Wen’s relationship is because, as she recalled, he introduced her as his maid, and then she became his friend. Now she’s wondering if there’s more.

“Are you okay, Milady?” Kwan asked.

Kwan didn’t expect that his best friend had been hiding something from him for a very long time. He doesn’t know or understand what he should feel after knowing that Wen fell in love with him. He knew he couldn’t repay her love since he was already getting married to Rebecca.
