Chapter 1
It was the morning already, at exactly 4:30 am the alarm on Vannessa’s wall rang out as her whole life depended on that sound. Vanessa’s constant turning, groaning, and covering of ears only confirmed her consciousness.
“Arrrrgh, good Heavens. Who gets woken rudely by a clock they bought with their money and accommodates at their home?” Vanessa said she kicked hard the duvet out of her body, her legs on the floor, and staggered into the bathroom.
It was Vanessa’s second week at her bakery store and wasn’t going to let any bad energy in, she struggled all her life because was able to set up that bakery store in the heart of town where most rich men lived.
Although on her first week there, she didn’t make enough sales she was hopeful for the new week.
Vanessa’s fair skin and thick ocean blue eyes were the most appreciated qualities of her, she was undeniably beautiful and well-created. When it was 6:30 am Vanessa’s superbike made its nose into the city and echoed.
She had bought this bike for her special delivery services and she was glad about how effective it has been for her. She cast her mind back to how much she usually spent on transportation for a month, she felt grateful over again.
When Vanessa had gotten to the shop and baked some pastries, she displayed them in the transparent glass outside and said a silent prayer within her.
From seconds to minutes to hours, the clock kept ticking and Vanessa’s eyes couldn’t be taken off them. Just when she was about to breathe and ‘I give up kind of,’ Little cute hands from outside tried to reach the counter then she heard the sound like the white whispers of birds.
“Hello ma’am, can I have some chocolate cakes please. Three cups please.” Vanessa walked out to see who this sweet Angel was.
A young girl stood in front of her with bright beautiful eyes and puffy cheeks, at the sight of her pink irresistible lips and dazzling hair, one would stop to say her beauty is strange.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Vanessa knelt slowly before the girl as she held her hands and looked into her eyes. “Oh, dear, you want cakes?”
“Yes, please.” The young girl replied with a cute smile.
“And what’s your name dear, where are your parents? Why are you alone on the streets?”
“My name is Chloe….. Chloe Brown. I’m not alone, my dad is right over there trying to get his car parked properly, he has asked me to come to make my choice of cake.”
“Wow honey, you’re smart. Alright, I’ll get you your chocolate cupcake.”
“Nooooooo,” Chloe said in between teeth and tongue.
“Alright, Alright honey, what do you want dear? Is there something else you want?” Vanessa asked with a concerned look.
“Not exactly, I just like you and would love to keep staring at you. You are so beautiful, ma’am.”
“Wow, Chloe no one has ever said those sweet words to me in a long while. Thanks for making me smile and I think you are the most beautiful. You’re a gorgeous girl.”
“Really ma’am?”
“Yes, my darling, I mean every word I say. Now let me quickly get your cupcake before your Dad arrives.”
Vanessa stands up, touches Chloe’s hair, and moves back inside to get the cupcake, especially still hot from the oven.
Upon arrival back to where Chloe was standing, she couldn’t see the girl anymore, she moved closer and walked out. Accidently she bumped into a man and spilled the hot cake all over his Jacket.
“Oh no!” Vanessa opened her mouth wide and went blank for minutes.
She stood immobile, she lifted her face while her eyes narrowed to get the human standing before her.
Damnit! He’s tall and huge with attractive muscles that no woman can ever resist setting her eyes on.
His blue eyes were so charming and his jet-black hair shifted her off her feet. ‘This is a human from a separate world.’ she thought within her.
While she kept staring at him, she swirled her neck sideways to get the little girl smiling at her. Her white crystal teeth led her to return the smiles too.
Now she can feel her heart at the place. Her heartbeat has returned to its normal state again.
“Ma’am Vanessa, he’s my dad. You’re glad to meet him right ?” Little Chloe stated, referring to Vanessa who was lost in thought at the moment.
She nodded slightly, “l got it. You both have the same looks.” She stepped backward.
“I’m so sorry for spilling the cakes on you sir, it wasn’t intentional. I was just rushing to get back the little girl that demanded it.” Vanessa explained while quivering.
He doesn’t have a sad look on but isn’t saying a word to express that he isn’t feeling bad about her action.
She inputted her palm into her side pocket but couldn’t get her little towel in there.
Gosh! This is a mess indeed.
“If you wouldn’t mind, Sir, I’ll go get a towel to clean up the dirt on your shirt. Please.” she pleaded.
The young man couldn’t utter a single word, he only stretched his lips like the one about to speak out.
“My dad wants to purchase stuff from your bakery, we’ll follow you along okay. It’s just an accident.” little Chloe commented grinning.
Her dad glanced at her and sniffed, while Vanessa turned her back to step into her bakery.
Within her, she wondered what the young man was up to. ‘He might be an aggressive type, I just wish he wouldn’t take action towards my silly step of searching for his daughter.”
She pouted her lips in a haunted manner, “Buh ! He’s irresistible. Damn handsome too.”
‘Uh-huh! I’m acting differently this time. Vanessa has never thought of falling for a man for once, and here I am thinking of a married man. Shit! I’m gonna kick him off my mind’ she pulled the towel forcefully from the string and soaked it in a bowl of water.
She stepped to get Chloe and her father standing beside the door.
‘I will have to shut my eyes while doing this, in order not to present myself as a whore that I’m not’ she thought and began cleaning up the spills of cake on his shirt.
He licked his lips and tapped her shoulder, “Let go of me, I want to purchase fruit bread.”
Vanessa stood upwards staring at him. ‘He just made a sentence now. Yes, he uttered some words.’
His voice isn’t hoarse. It’s cold, and damn sexy. That voice shifted her off her feet.
