Dear Contract Wife, You Are Mine

Chapter 24

Title: Seducing Miguel

Lily was so impressed with the lady staring right back at her from the mirror. It was her reflection.

“I think this is perfect,” She muttered as she smacked her lips together after she applied lip gloss. It wasn’t her first day resuming work at the hospital, but Miguel was around now and she couldn’t afford to look like a mess when going to see her.

“One more thing,” She muttered when she recalled she hadn’t worn her perfume yet. Just as she reached for her perfume, her phone started ringing, so she went for her phone first. It was one of her colleagues calling her.

“Why the disturb this early morning?” She rolled her eyes after she answered the call.

“Lily, there is an emergency at the hospital. You need to hurry down here to assist Doctor Miguel,” Came her colleague’s masculine voice.

“Alright. I’ll be there shortly,” The call disconnected afterward. Lily didn’t have time to spray her perfume again because the life of the patient at the hospital was more important than any other thing.

Lily reached for her car keys on the nightstand, grabbed her cross bag, and dashed out of her spacious large room.

She strode briskly down the walkway of her apartment, and descended the staircase as fast as her legs could carry her. Arriving at the parking lot where two cars were parked, Lily hopped in the white jeep and drove out of her mini mansion, and was soon on her way to the hospital.

It wouldn’t have been possible for her to get to the hospital in exactly fifteen minutes if she hadn’t violated the traffic rule. She couldn’t afford to be late.

Lily parked roughly at the parking lot of the hospital as soon as she drove in, alighted from the car, and took off toward the entrance of the hospital.

“You are finally here. This way,” One of the male nurses uttered as he hurried over to Lily who was just stepping into the hospital.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

“Let’s go,” The young man led the way while Lily trailed behind him. They finally arrived at the emergency room, and Lily barged in to find Miguel trying so hard to save the accident victim who was in her pool of blood lying almost lifeless on the bed.

“The internal bleeding needs to be stopped first,” Miguel was sweating profusely as he worked hard with other nurses. He was so perfect with everything he did.

Lily couldn’t help but admire him even amid the situation on the ground. She admired everything about him, which wasn’t limited to his passion and desperation to save the patient. He was indeed a dedicated medical Doctor.

“Her heartbeat is dropping! We need to perform CPR immediately. Get me the defibrillator,” Miguel demanded, and Lily quickly handed him the two machines.

“One… two…” Miguel said as he pressed the machine on the patient’s chest, and as he removed it, she jerked up briefly. By now, the machine had started beeping as her heartbeat slowed down.

“Get the ventilator machine,” Miguel demanded, and furthermore, he fixed the ventilator on the patient.

Miguel’s body was soaked in his sweat as he did his best to revive the patient. He couldn’t afford to lose a patient just on his second day of resuming work. It was going to be bad luck for him.

After so much effort, the patient was finally revived, and Miguel breathed out in relief.

Hours later, Miguel was seated behind his desk in his office when a knock on the door disrupted him.

“Come in,” He ushered whoever was at the door in, and Lily came inside.

“Good day, Sir,” Lily smiled at Miguel, and he nodded.

“Hmm… Good day,” He replied to her.

“How may I help you?” He further asked as he took his attention away from her.

“No, I don’t need help,” She shrugged as she walked over and sat in front of him.

“You did a good job today. I’m proud of you,” She admitted, and he flashed a smile secretly.

“Thank you. It’s my responsibility,” He was trying hard to be mean and push her away, but this was not working out for him.

“We haven’t had time to talk ever since you resumed work…” She paused and shrugged, not knowing what to say.

As much as Miguel wanted to stay focused, he couldn’t help this attraction that was pulling him to this lady. She had captured his heart even though he never wanted to fall for her. Everything about her was cute, and he couldn’t help but admire her.

“Are you so free to apply make-up?” Miguel scoffed, stylishly letting her know he knew she was wearing make-up.

“Is it not pretty?” She cupped her cheeks in her palms and pouted her lips.

“You look like a masquerade,” He rolled his eyes and turned his face away, but deep inside him, he knew that makeup fit her so well and she was insanely gorgeous in that.

“Ugh! You are so mean. To think I did it to impress you. Forget it. I’ll just wash it off later,” Lily rolled her eyes, and Miguel smiled.

“I’m just kidding. It’s pretty,” He finally admitted, excited that she did that to impress him. It really worked. He was really impressed even though he was trying hard not to admit it.

“I know, right?” She winked at him, and he quickly turned his face away as his heart fluttered. Gosh! What the fuck was she doing to him?

“That reminds me… How come you never mentioned to me that you would be working here? It was a good thing I looked my best yesterday. You would’ve seen me in such a messy state,” She rolled her eyes as she tucked her hair behind her ear, and he scoffed.

“Are you here to work or to attract someone?” He asked instead, and she shrugged.

“At first, it was to work, but it won’t be bad if I add the latter to it now that you are here, right?” Her reply always gave him chills every damn time, and this time wasn’t an exemption.

“You are crazy,” Miguel shook his head and muttered even though his heart was hammering against her chest. This was an awkward moment for him, but still, he couldn’t deny that he really loved this. It felt so good.

“You should focus more on your work instead of trying to attract someone. That’s a piece of friendly advice from me,” Miguel leaned forward, his eyes piercing into hers, he uttered. He had expected her to roll her eyes, but she grabbed her chest and gasped sharply.

“Are you ok?” Worried, Miguel leaned forward and asked her.

“My heart just thumped. I think I’m in love,” She bit her bottom lip, and this time, Miguel couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore.

“You know, you look so cute when you laugh. I love that side of you. You should laugh more often,” She winked at him flirtatiously, and he quickly comported himself.

“Don’t you have work to do?” He asked her.

“Of course, I do, but I don’t mind spending all day here with you,” She replied to him, and he huffed.

“Get ready to be fired then,” He smirked at her, and she shrugged.

“I don’t mind getting fired for you, Mr. Miguel,” She winked at him again, and he huffed and swallowed the lump in his throat. She was making his heart flutter with everything he did, and this was not funny at all.

“I came here to ask for something, anyway,” She paused, then stood up and walked over to him. She sat on the desk, pushed her chest forward, and crossed her legs. She was deliberately seducing him.

Miguel’s heart hammered against his chest as he stared at her sexy body. From her long straight legs, to her tiny waist, and of course, her chest wasn’t an exemption. She was everything sexy, and as a man, he could only admire her even if he didn’t want to. He knew she was trying to seduce him, yet he couldn’t resist her.

“Let’s go out on a date tonight, Mr. Miguel,” She said in the sexiest voice as she stylishly tucked her hair away, revealing her bare neck, and as Miguel saw that, he swallowed nothing as crazy thoughts lingered in his mind. His breath hitched subconsciously.

“What do you say, Mr. Miguel?” She asked as she leaned forward this time, their faces were just inches apart, and Miguel could barely breathe. The air conditioner was working, but his body felt hot.

“Ye… yes… I’ll go out on a date with you,” He stuttered as he rushed his reply, and she finally straightened her back.

“That’s good. By 8pm on the dot. I’ll be waiting for you at my apartment. Don’t be late,” She said to him, and he slowly nodded like someone under a spell.

“See you around,” She finally stood from the desk, straightened her back, then blew him a kiss before he finally stepped out of his office, and Miguel breathed out in relief.

“That was close,” Lily breathed out as soon as she stepped out of Miguel’s office.

“That was crazy,” She said again as she ran her fingers through her hair while walking down the walkway.

The sound of her ringing phone made him halt, and she rolled her eyes when she checked the caller and saw that it was May.

“What does she want from me now?” She mumbled and finally swiped the answer button.

“What do you want, young lady? You don’t realize that I’m at work, don’t you?” She rolled her eyes as she spoke sarcastically on the phone.

“Let’s hang out tonight. You are getting off work by 7pm, right?” May’s voice sounded from the other end.

“I’m working overnight, so it’s not going to be possible,” Lily replied to her sarcastically.

“I know you are lying to me, Lily. Don’t keep me waiting later. Pick me up at most 7:30pm. You’ll be do damned if you don’t show up,” May threatened, and she sighed as she crashed against the wall.

“Were you sent to make my life miserable? I have a date today for goodness sake, May,” She whined as she ruffled her hair like a crazy person. She had really lost it at this point.

“You’ll be damned if you don’t show up,” May threatened again, and she knew she didn’t have a choice at this point.

“Ugh! Fine! I’ll show up,” She agreed before the call ended. She breathed out again…
