Alpha Zachary frowned at the lack of response from Nelly. “Don’t you believe me?” he asked.
“I do,” she replied.
Alpha Zachary repeated his question, hoping for a different answer.
“If you really had something to do with it, Lara wouldn’t be the only one I took away,” Nelly replied.
She spoke the truth, but there was also a hint of threat in her words.
Nelly didn’t sound like she was bragging, but rather stating the facts of the situation.
Alpha Zachary stared at her with an unfathomable look in his eyes.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Without realizing it, Nelly had transformed into someone unfamiliar to him. The lively and energetic aura she once had was replaced by a mysterious air.
After a while, Alpha Zachary nodded. “I’m glad you believe me. That’s all I care about.”
Just as Nelly was about to respond, Alpha Zachary beat her to it. “I saw the news about Lara. It seems like Alpha Kilian is responsible. I can’t believe how cruel he is to his ex.”
Nelly looked up at him, surprised by his words. “Alpha Zachary, when did you become so manipulative, trying to sow discord?”
Alpha Zachary furrowed his brow. “I was just stating the truth-”
“The truth is, he had nothing to do with what happened to Lara,” Nelly interrupted, shocking him.
“Let’s not focus on who is responsible,” Nelly continued. “If your ex harmed your child, would you still turn a blind eye to it just because of the past?”
It was a trap, and Alpha Zachary knew it.
“That’s not what I meant-”
Nelly sneered. “I don’t know what you would do, but as an outsider, you always criticize others.”
Alpha Zachary’s face turned grim, stung by Nelly’s words.
Nelly, no longer interested in continuing the conversation, got up from her seat. “If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving.”
“Nelly!” Alpha Zachary called out, his voice hesitant. Looking at her silhouette, he asked, “Is there really no chance for us?”
Nelly pursed her lips, pausing before replying, “I can forgive what happened between your parents and me. But can you?” she questioned.
Alpha Zachary hesitated as he met her gaze.
“Despite disagreeing with them and knowing they wronged me first, you still hold onto that hatred for me,” Nelly stated matter-of-factly.
“I don’t…” Alpha Zachary started, but Nelly smirked. “You should really ask yourself that question.”
Looking at Nelly, Alpha Zachary felt the impossible distance between them.
“Also, no matter what you’re planning with Lara, let me warn you as a friend. Stop before you lose everything,” Nelly cautioned.
But before Nelly could leave, Alpha Zachary burst into laughter. “Lose everything? Haven’t I already lost it all? My family, my parents, and you… I lost everything a long time ago. What else do I have to fear?”
“She was never yours to lose,” a deep voice suddenly interrupted.
When Alpha Zachary looked up, he saw Alpha Kilian standing a few feet away. With his hands in his pockets, Alpha Kilian gave Alpha Zachary a curious look, as if he had been listening for a while.
Alpha Zachary’s eyes filled with hatred at the sight of him.
Nelly frowned when she saw Alpha Kilian too. “Why are you here?”
Alpha Kilian shifted his gaze from Alpha Zachary to Nelly as he approached her. “I came because I missed you, but it seems my timing was perfect.”
“Your timing has always been uncanny,” Nelly teased.
In reality, someone in the pack had informed Alpha Kilian about Alpha Zachary’s visit.
Alpha Kilian didn’t deny it. Instead, he looked at Nelly and asked, “Are you ready to go?” Nelly nodded.
“Let’s go then,” Alpha Kilian said, taking Nelly’s hand and leaving as if Alpha Zachary was a stranger.
Nelly didn’t say a word, allowing Alpha Kilian to lead her away.
From her perspective, crushing Alpha Zachary’s hopes was for his own good.
As Alpha Zachary stood there, watching them walk away, a deep sadness filled his eyes. Alpha Kilian, one day you will pay for what you’ve done!
Amidst his anger, Alpha Zachary’s phone suddenly rang.
Seeing an unknown number, he hesitated before answering. “Hello?”
“It’s me.”
Alpha Zachary frowned at the voice. “Lara?”
“I want to see you,” she said softly.
Alpha Zachary, disgusted by Lara’s actions, sneered. “Is that really necessary?” “What do you mean?”
