Chapter 42

Chapter 42 Sudden Stomachache

Leah smiled and looked at Quentin mockingly. "Quite the contrary, actually. I'm just not willing to answer it."

"You..."

Quentin began, but Leah interrupted him. "What's the matter? I learned it from you."

Quentin, recalling that he hadn't answered Leah's questions earlier, fell into silence instantly.

Leah had no intention of waiting for him to speak again. She picked up her bag and stood up.

"The contract is signed. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."

Quentin replied indifferently, "Hmm."

Leah thought, "What's with the high and mighty act? Does he really think I don't know what kind of man he is?" Rolling her eyes at him, Leah walked toward the office door.

However, just as she was about to step out of Quentin's office, a sharp, twisting pain suddenly gripped her stomach. The unbearable pain surged through her body, causing her to let out an involuntary groan.

"Ugh..."

Leah could barely stand still. She struggled to support herself against the door frame to prevent her from collapsing. Quentin, who had been engrossed in his work, noticed Leah's distress, so he looked up and glanced at her.

"What's the matter? You were so aggressive just now, but now you look so fragile. Or could it be that you're playing hard to get?"

The waves of pain coursing through her body left Leah unable to muster the strength to retort.

The redness on her face was gradually drained, and her forehead was drenched with sweat.

She bit her lip hard, refusing to cry out in pain.

"Hard to get my ass!" Leah thought,

"I'll never ask for your help even if I die here today! You bastard!"

Quentin continued to watch Leah in silence, his eyes filled with disdain and mockery.

He stood up from his chair, approached Leah, and sneered. "Still not leaving? Are you having a hard time saying goodbye to me?"

As he spoke, he noticed Leah's

anguished look. Her face was as et

pale as paper, and cold sweat poured down her forehead. Seeing this, Quentin was slightly shocked.

"What's wrong? Where does it hurt? Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"

Leah pushed Quentin away as he came closer, her clear eyes filled with disdain.

"Back off. I don't need your hypocrisy."

Quentin raised an eyebrow. "Even at a time like this? Are you trying to be tough? Is it even meaningful?"

Leah shot him a cold glare. "How I am is none of your business. You can do whatever you want. I don't need your help."

"Leah!" Quentin's tone grew more forceful, a hint of annoyance creeping in.

Leah bore the pain and looked up.

She hissed "Let me tell you, Quentin. Even if I die here, I'll never let

help

me or jeer at me."

"Are you sure this is the right moment to be willful? You must be mentally ill."

Quentin could certainly take Leah to the hospital, but Leah had to pretend to be tough. He couldn't understand what she was thinking.

Despite the excruciating pain, Leah

refused to show weakness in front

of Quentin. "I don't know whether I

am mentally ill or not, but you must

be seriously ill."

Quentin was furious but managed to control his temper. "Are you sure you don't want me to take you to the hospital?"

Leah looked away and rejected,

"I. Don't. Need. You."

Quentin swallowed his anger and retorted indifferently,

"Fine, since you said that, you can continue enjoying the pain."
