Chapter 18
Chapter 18 I Am Sorry
"I'm your elder, and you expect me to apologize to you? How on earth do you think that's possible?" Taylor stood with her hands on her hips, her chest heaving, clearly agitated.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Leah shrugged and sarcastically retorted, "You always accuse me of being unfilially and disrespectful. But it seems your own sense of filial duty is just as shallow. You won't even utter a simple apology in such a critical moment. What does that say about you? Doesn't that show that you don't care about Madam Worthington's well-being? How will the Worthington family perceive you as their daughter-in-law if word gets out?"
"You..." Taylor was so furious that her face turned bright red. Taylor felt utterly helpless as she couldn't find words to refute Leah.
Turning to Quentin, Taylor slapped her thigh in frustration and cried. "Quentin, just look at her! This is the true color of the supposedly wonderful woman you married! See how badly she's treating me now! She'll do even worse if you don't stand up for me!"
Seeing Taylor in such distress and Leah remaining unmoved, Quentin's gaze darkened, and he finally intervened. "Leah, we are indeed seeking your help, but you shouldn't take it this far."
"Too far? You say I'm going too far?" Leah burst into laughter as if she had heard the most absurd joke in the whole wide world.
She added, "Back then, wasn't your mother going too far as she treated me like a servant? Wasn't she going too far when she scolded me whenever she felt like it? Wasn't she going too far when she accused me of stealing things every other day? How is it that when all I'm asking for is an apology, I'm the one who's gone too far? I used to tolerate everything for your sake, Quentin, but now that we're divorced, do you think I'll continue to endure it?"
Leah's extreme mockery words echoed in Quentin's ears, making him feel strangely uncomfortable.
He parted his lips, wanting to say something, but couldn't find the words to respond.
Eventually, considering Debra's condition, he chose to take a step back, saying, "I will apologize on behalf of my mom."
Leah raised her chin defiantly and scoffed, "You're apologizing to me too! But your mom also has to apologize. Neither of you would be excused!"
Taylor clutched her chest and glared at Leah. At that moment, Taylor wanted nothing more than to lunge at her.
Taylor cried again. "What have our
family done our past lives to end up with such a vicious woman like you? You are pushing it too far!"
Leah couldn't be bothered wet
and asked, "Are you going to
her
apologize? If you're not, I'll just go in then."
"You..." Taylor's face instantly turned ashen. She could hardly catch her breath from the pent-up anger surging in her.
Suddenly, the hospital called Quentin again, urging them, "Mr. Worthington, when will Doctor Brody come over? Madam Worthington's condition really can't wait any longer!"
"I'll get him there as soon as
possible," Quentin replied, then hung
up the phone. He suddenly felt the Leah in front of him was a whole different person as if he didn't Know her anymore. She was so different that even he felt a bit overwhelmed.

With a soft sigh, he glanced at Taylor beside him. "Mom, I know you heard it too. Grandma's condition can't wait any longer. Just apologize to her."
Leah looked at Taylor, whose face was grim, and said smugly, "Hurry up and apologize to me."
Taylor glanced at Quentin, then turned her gaze toward Leah, and finally, with Debra's condition in mind, she closed her eyes briefly When she reopened them, she had already made up her mind. "Alright, I'll apologize!"
Taylor clenched her fists tightly, suppressing her pent-up frustration and anger as she forced the words through her gritted teeth. "I'm sorry."
