A Girl’s Diary

Chapter 10 - How Do You Say Hi In Korean?

Chapter 10 - How Do You Say Hi In Korean?

I hid the note in my bag. This time it was handwritten so there was a chance to find out who was

sending them. If it was even the same person. That intruder who sneaked past security, could he be

someone in our school? If these two notes were from the same person, there could be a big chance, he

was someone from our school!

Right now, I had to meet Sky and act normal. I think I was getting the hang of pretending...

Skyler and I were now heading to her home. Why was that? Well, long story short. She didn't trust my

sense of fashion. Even though a huge part of my life revolved around fashion. That was why she

refused to borrow some of my pyjamas. She stated that she had very cute hoodies with animal's ears

that we girls had to wear. She got them when she went with her mom to Korea. According to Sky, the

country could give you a cuteness overdose! Why did she own six? Because they were cute. But we

were only four girls so the unanswered question was, what would she do with the extras? Why bring

them all?

When we got there, the sweet cookie aroma hit me in my face. Now I was craving cookies! I literally let

the smell hypnotize me and pull me to its source. The source turned out to be the kitchen, where Sky's

mom was putting the cookie patch on a plat. Yum!

"Hey, mom! That's my friend, Elena." Sky shoved a cookie into her mouth. My mouth watered watching

her. For a superstar who should have a strict diet, I'm the definition of messed up.

"Anneyoung" She waved lightly at me. "Here, have some cookies." She smiled warmly. I thought she'd

never say that. I grinned and headed to the plat of cookies.

"Hello ma'am," I said awkwardly when I realized I said nothing since I got here.

"No. No ma'am nonsense of that. I'm not even that old. And I'm way too cool for it." That I had to give

her. There was a very very cute accent.

"I love your accent!" I said shoving a cookie into my mouth. Chocolate! It melted in my mouth. Damn,

now I couldn't get enough.

"I'm Korean, that's why." She smiled. So that's why Sky looked Asian, even with that blasting blue hair.

"Skyler, not to be rude or anything, but what are you doing here?"

"Getting clothes. But why do you ask? Are you having a secret date? Is that why you made cookies? Is

he hot? Are you two marr-"

"Calm down. No, I'm not dating anyone. The cookies are for me, I was going to watch desperate

housewives." Interesting!

"Hmm... okay! Let's go, Eli!" She said and jumped off the counter then headed to a room, me hot on her

trail. Even though I wanted more cookies. They were perfect... sniff! Sky shut the door after we entered

and then headed to the closet. So that was her room! Everything was so blue! She took that name

seriously, Sky with blue hair and a blue room! Hehe. "So before you ask. My dad has another family

and frankly doesn't give a shit what we two are doing. He left since I was a baby and now God knows

how many times he remarried and got divorced. I lost count after six!" She said, her head in her closet.

She tried to act strong and indifferent but I knew better. There was sadness in her voice.

"I wasn't going to ask." Which is true. Yes, I was curious but I knew when not to cross a line. And that

seemed pretty much private to me.

"I know." She sighed. "That's why I told you! I've been trying to get mom to date since forever. I even

thought of setting her up online. But no, she opposing it completely. I even asked her once if she didn't

prefer guys anymore. Which led to a pillow thrown in my face." She chuckled at the memory while I

couldn't contain it. I giggled, imagining her face stuffed with feathers, priceless! Did her mom have a

photo?

We finished packing for the night, but the bag Sky was carrying made me think she was going away for

a month at least.

We said bye to her mom but before we went on our way she whispered in my ear. "Next time you come

here, I'll teach you Korean." I nodded eagerly. I loved multilingual people. If only I had the time to take

extra languages classes!

When we finally fitted everything Sky got in the car, I sent Jason and Cici the address. We drove to my

home, Sky singing to every single song that came on the radio. I was so tempted to mumble along... I

wanted to feel normal but that could end up a disaster. Imagine me singing and sounding just like

Cinnamon! Not worth risking!

The moment I approached home, Sky kept gawking at everything. Our driveway my favourite part

because it was in the middle of our small garden. I used to play hide and seek with Loca and Ian all the

time here, though I always lost! There was always this unspeakable agreement between them that

they're alleys against me. We got into the house and to my surprise, I could hear Jason's shouts

coming from our basement or as Ian calls it, the playroom. So that was where I headed, with Sky

trailing behind.

Jason was playing soccer on the PlayStation with Ian, both sitting in these beanbags Ian got, while

Loca was just sitting on the couch at the back laughing quietly. "Elena, your house is our official

hangout spot." Sky said. I gave her a weird look. "forevermore!" I chuckled and shook my head.

"You drive fast, Jason," I said. Loca looked up at me, got up, took my arm and left with me to the

kitchen. What crawled up her ass now? I was about to ask what was going on but she beat me at

speaking first.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I tilted my head, she took the gesture for confusion and elaborated. "About

having a party. With cute boys, I might add." I chuckled.

"I'm hanging out with my friends, Loca. The only other person coming is a girl."

"But still, there's a cute guy here, and not just a cute guy, that's Jason, do you have any idea how

popular the guy is?" She freaked and would probably be freaking out if I didn't stop her.

"Loca, you look good, okay? Just have fun."

"Can I invite everyone so we can have a real party?" I shook my head. Mom did allow me to have a

party but it didn't seem right. "Please. Please. Please?" She begged more. I pondered over the idea. It

would be selfish of me if only I got to spend time with my friends.

"Okay!" She squealed and was about to leave. Did I finish talking? No! "But you only invite three. So

choose wisely because I don't want the house full of teenagers. And please not any of the cheerleaders

in my grade." I smiled at her face. Priceless!

"You're no fun." She said scowling at me. It was now time for a display of power, unless I was ready to

spend the whole night with hormonal teenagers thinking they could do anything in our house.

"It can be two, Loca," I warned.

"You're the best sister ever. Love ya!" She gave a cheek kiss and ran to her room. I could be

persuasive sometimes!

I searched the kitchen for something we could eat for dinner, but honestly deep down, I knew we had

nothing to eat. Where's dad's cooking when you need it? I jogged back to the basement with snacks I

found. It wasn't much but it would do until we ordered something.

"Eli, thank God you're back. I demand a tour. Right now!" Sky said in a dramatic voice. "Also, we need

to change."

"Elena, I'll order pizza. Anything else?" Ian asked. Food? Now we're talking.

"Chinese," I said. He nodded. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"You know what? I'll just order punch of different things, we'll need lots of food for the party Loca is

having." *party?*

"I told her she can get only three of her friends. That's not a party." I crossed my fingers, please tell me

that was what she was doing.

"I know. However, she invited three of her friends." That wasn't a however, that was what I told her to

do. Was there more? "But then, one of them said she'll come with her boyfriend and" noooo! Stop Ian,

stop. "Her other friend was hanging out with two other friends so they're coming too and I guess that's

it. Maybe it's not such a big party after all!" What the heck?

"I'll just murder her."

"No don't, we can have our small party by the pool. That way the inside of the house won't look

miserable after and you could still have your sleepover." This sounded wise which is insane coming

from Ian. I nodded. "Since you're okay with this. Some guys from the football team are coming too." I

glared. Now was a good time to murder that pair of twins.

"In that case, it's a good thing I came prepared. Eli, show me your room." I rolled my eyes. She called

getting her whole wardrobe being prepared? I went upstairs and found Loca talking to Cici. Perfect

timing! She waved at us and Sky told her and Loca to follow us. We went upstairs to where the rooms

were but then Loca said she had better options to wear so we went to her room instead. They all

changed, did their hair and makeup while I sat there not even bothering to look at what to wear.

"Elena, why didn't you change?" Cici asked. Loca and Sky rushed to where I was sitting, eyes wide.

Why Cici? Why?

"Probably because I don't care enough." I shrugged. Their eyes got even wider, I smiled. They looked

funny! But then the fun part ended. They tried to get me into dresses but I said no to each and every

one. Loca then decided I didn't have to wear a dress. So what I wore at the end was black leather

leggings with a cream sweater. Comfy enough I guess! When they tried to get my hair done, I opposed

that completely. My braids shall always live! For makeup, they didn't even try, probably lost hope on

me. I put on my favourite shoes, and I was ready to party! No, not really. The party scene was definitely

not for me.

I told them, I would follow after I get my phone. They went directly to the backdoor where the pool is. I

went to grab my phone. 3 missed calls from Aurora and a text from mom. I decided to read mom's text

first.

'Elena... Don't murder your siblings even if they have a party. Please! And maybe try to enjoy it too.

Love you.'

So they told her? Hmm... okay! Now deep breaths and let's see what Aurora wanted. I dialled her

number and with the first ring, she answered. Always alert!

"I'm not even going to say anything about how you must always keep your phone with you. Did you

hear about the party Black Eyes are having?" Not even a hello like normal people! It was moments like

this one that always made me see how different we are. While Aurora was always strict about

everything, I was simply carefree!

"Hey to you too, Aurora. And yes, they told me." I chuckled at the memory of them falling over each

other.

"Good. You have to go. I invited some important people that you have to meet."

"Okay."

"Don't be late." Well, that I couldn't promise. It wouldn't even be me, I had a reputation to keep. "I'm

serious. Also tomorrow you're doing a live interview to clarify everything." Even though they wouldn't

give a damn about anything but revealing my identity but okay. "Now, go enjoy your night." She hung

up. Now, where were we? Yes, joining the party I didn't want to have. Too much for wanting a normal

sleepover.
