Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1255

Chapter 1255

"Are we there yet?"

"Pretty soon." The man's voice was a bit rough, but he stepped on the gas pedal hard.

Half an hour later, they pulled up in front of a big, luxurious house.

"Alright, we can get out now," he said.

Esther didn't wait a second longer. As soon as the car stopped, she got out and started throwing up by the side of the road.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

She'd only had one glass of champagne at the party and hardly any food. It felt like she was going to throw up everything, even her stomach acid.

"Next time, can you tell me how far your house is before we go?"

"Okay." Despite her looking so sick, he couldn't help but find her complaints kind of cute.

Esther nodded and stood up unsteadily, still looking white as a sheet.

"Let's go in." Without waiting for her to agree, the man picked her up because she seemed really out of it. "Hey!" Startled, Esther yelled and grabbed his arm tight. 'What are you doing? Put me down."

At that moment, she thought of all kinds of things that could happen.

"Don't worry, I won't do anything bad. I'm just trying to help you inside quicker.'

His words calmed Esther's nerves. She knew she'd thought something bad, but being so close to him felt weird and too intimate. "Thanks, but I can walk on my own," she replied.

But the man didn't seem to care much. 'I've been in other countries a lot, where people think differently about what's polite. This might seem weird to you, but it makes sense to me."

Esther felt a bit silly for making a fuss but didn't say anything. She missed the sly look in his eyes.

When they got into the house and the maid saw them, she was surprised but didn't say anything because of her professionalism.

"Make some tea," he said without thinking, then looked at Esther. "Or do you want something else? I can ask her to make it."

Esther wasn't really there to drink, so she didn't respond. The man thought for a bit and then smiled. "Then have some orange juice."

Esther was stunned. At the party earlier, she had slipped away to drink orange juice instead of champagne, and he had noticed. She realized he was very observant and not someone she could easily deal with.

"Alright, let's get back to business. Since you brought me to such a far place, I believe you have some truths for me." Esther was hoping for some answers after coming all this way.

"Of course. I'll tell you everything. But first, you should rest," he said with a smile, dodging her question. Esther felt tricked and was pretty upset about it.
