Chapter 579 What's Important and What's Trivial
Chapter 579 What's Important and What's Trivial
Madeline was lost for words.
She reached out and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Stop fooling around."
"I'm not fooling around." Sebastian chuckled. "It's late at night, and I'm doing what a loving couple should do."
Once again, Madeline was flabbergasted.
Weren't they discussing something important?
Why was he suddenly teasing her like this?
She leaned against Sebastian's shoulder and said, "Let's first discuss what birthday gift to get Lucas tomorrow."
"After that…" Sebastian smiled. "What should we do next? How about something fun?"
Madeline didn't know what to say.
Her face turned red, and she said angrily, "Has Aldo and Buddy's childishness rubbed off on you? Why are you behaving like this today?"
"Childishness?" Sebastian narrowed his eyes. "I think you have a misunderstanding of what childishness is. This is clearly romantic!"
Sebastian embraced the speechless Madeline. "Darling, my dad has been wanting more grandkids lately…"
Madeline remained silent.
Sebastian's palm caressed her shoulder. "Honestly, I'm not in a rush for more kids, but I do enjoy the baby-making process…"
"..."
The more Madeline got to know Sebastian, the more she realized he was skilled at putting on a facade in front of others.
People who didn't know him well would never suspect that the elegant and aloof Sebastian Hart could be so flirtatious behind closed doors.
She held Sebastian's hand, feeling a bit helpless. "Come on, I'm being serious. What birthday gift are we getting Lucas tomorrow?"
"You don't need to worry about these things," Sebastian said. "I've already taken care of it."
"What have you prepared?" Madeline asked curiously.
"A new car and a commercial building," Sebastian answered. "Lucas likes cars, but they depreciate in value, so I added a commercial building that can appreciate over time."
Madeline was dumbstruck. Guess I've been worrying for nothing. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Luckily for her, she had asked Sebastian beforehand and didn't take it upon herself to pick Lucas' gift.
The Harts celebrated birthdays rather extravagantly, didn't they?
"You don't have to worry about these things in the future," said Sebastian, holding her hand while interlocking their fingers. "When your birthday rolls around, just accept your gifts graciously."
Madeline responded, "Hey, it's nothing much if the gifts are exchanged like this—it's merely a trade. You give me a commercial building, and I'll return you one. It's a no-brainer, isn't it?"
"What's going on in that little head of yours?" Sebastian smiled and tapped her forehead. "I'm the one preparing all the birthday gifts for my brothers. You and the kids just need to sit back and relax. Who are you exchanging presents with, huh?"
Madeline fell silent.
Although she felt a little embarrassed, she really liked this arrangement!
She suddenly realized that she seemed to be a bit money-minded, and she felt even more embarrassed by this.
"Are you sure?" she said. "Let me get them their gifts next time."
"There's no need for that," Sebastian said. "I don't like my wife giving gifts to other men. If you really want to, you can give them to me instead."
Madeline was speechless.
She had been with Sebastian for some time now, but she still didn't know how to respond to him at times.
She hadn't made much progress!
Sebastian kissed the corner of her lips and ran his fingers through her hair, gently caressing it. "We're done with the trivial matters, so can we focus on the important things now?"
Madeline didn't say anything.
Isn't discussing birthday gifts the more important matter now? Sebastian only cares about the trivial things, doesn't he?
Seeing her helpless expression, Sebastian chuckled and reached out to turn off the wall lamp. "Darling, I love seeing you speechless."
Madeline asked, "What kind of twisted pleasure is this?"
"No, it isn't," replied Sebastian as he kissed her. "You're simply adorable…"
Madeline didn't say anything else, and she couldn't even be bothered to complain deep down.
The following evening, Sebastian and Madeline arrived at Club Tempest on time with Quincy and Joel.
Once they were inside, Joel became excited and pulled Quincy ahead, saying, "I love this place, Aldo. It's big and beautiful; we can play hide and seek here, and there's plenty of delicious food!"
Quincy said, "When I grow up, I'll build a place like this for you."
Madeline was amused.
He's young, but he has big dreams.
Sebastian laughed. "He's definitely my son, seeing how full of ambition he is."
Are you sure about that? Madeline mused.
If Sebastian's son's only goal was to build a club, he didn't have much ambition.
The family of four soon arrived at the private lounge.
Club Tempest belonged to Lucas, and when the club went through renovations, he designed a luxurious private lounge consisting of several interconnected rooms for himself, his family, and his close friends. It was not open to the public.
The lounge was equipped with various entertainment facilities, fulfilling every desire imaginable.
Quincy and Joel entered the private lounge and greeted the adults. They were like fish in water, running around the room like untamed horses.
Madeline didn't need to go out of her way to say hi. Everyone else there greeted her proactively, and
she only needed to respond.
After exchanging pleasantries, she sat down with Leigh.
After her subordinates left Dusktown one after another following her wedding, only Martin, the Caesar brothers, Kenneth, and Edmund remained.
They weren't put in a separate lounge tonight, so they sat with Sebastian's childhood friends.
Leigh liked it this way.
Since she was dating Lucas, she was familiar with his friends. Needless to say, life would be more interesting in the future.
After all, the people from Mansion weren't weaklings. Even when faced with the most prominent heir of Dusktown, they wouldn't back down.
Of course, Lucas' childhood friends were of good character and treated the people from her agency without condescension.
Moreover, Martin was Andrew's younger brother.
When Andrew saw Martin, he pulled him to the side, showing great concern. He was also very friendly to Martin's colleagues, toasting Edmund and the others several glasses of wine. He also thanked them for taking care of his younger brother.
He seemed like a good older brother.
Perhaps people could influence each other; Sebastian was a good older sibling, so his childhood friends mirrored this trait.
Halfway through the banquet, Kieran entered the room with two other individuals.
Leigh glanced at them, her eyes sparkling. She exclaimed, "Oh, my!"
Madeline looked at her and asked, "What's the matter?"
Leigh pointed toward Kieran and said, "Young Master Kieran is here."
Madeline responded, "Yes, it is Lucas' birthday, after all."
Wasn't it customary for an older brother to attend his younger brother's birthday bash?
"He brought two important guests," Leigh added.
Madeline remained silent.
Leigh looked at the two individuals and nudged Madeline with her elbow. "Do you recognize those two?"
Madeline carefully observed the pair and said, "I know one of them. The person in white is Christian Baller."
