Worship The Ground You Walk On

Chapter 23 What Disease Does She Have

Chapter 23 What Disease Does She Have

Winifred also immediately noticed Claudia and walked over. She reprimanded Claudia in a low voice,

“Claudia, it’s none of your business. Conny’s doing fine with Hanna.”

Claudia was always obedient in front of them, but this time, she was like a totally different person and

ignored Winifred, standing still, and holding Conrad tight.

Meanwhile, she looked at Winifred with an obstinate expression. Her clear eyes showed a distinctive

certainty.

“Oh my god. You are crazy today. I’m telling you. Give Conrad to Hanna right now!” Winifred burst with

rage.

Hanna pretended to be nice, but she was actually trying to make it worse, “Mrs. Crawford, it's OK.

Claudia’s Conrad’s mother. She has every right to hold her kid.”

Winifred could not allow Claudia to do anything wrong at such a big party!

She wanted to raise her grandson alone before, but Claudia ruined her plan. It could be imagined how

furious Winifred was when she recalled all their grudges.

Winifred pushed away Hanna's hand and stared coldly at Claudia, “Are you deaf?”

Many people from distinguished families gathered under the stage. They were all friends of the

Crawford Family. Winifred would not allow Claudia to disgrace her family, so she talked in a low voice

and only a few people around them could hear their conversation.

Claudia, however, still held her son and refused to let go.

“Claudia!”

Winifred suppressed her anger and squeezed the name out of her teeth. She almost exploded with

rage.

Claudia looked down as quickly as possible, with her long eyelashes fluttering slightly. She could not

put her son in any kind of danger no matter how furious Winifred was.

“You...”

Before Winifred continued, Ben walked over hurriedly. He glanced at Claudia coldly without any

obvious expression.

“Ben, don't blame Claudia. She didn't mean to do this!” Hanna explained in a natural and graceful

manner to show her kindness.

Winifred’s face was red with rage, and she began to grab the child in the next second. However, Ben

stopped her in time.

“That's enough!”

He shouted.

Winifred froze and looked at him in surprise.

Ben’s face clouded. He glanced at Claudia with a deep expression. He noticed the stubbornness in her

eyes, sighed, and said, “Conrad is too so little. He must be tired. Take him home.”

On getting the permission, Claudia immediately nodded and left quickly with the child in her arms.

Winifred looked at them, opened her mouth but did not know what to say. She had to let it go.

Claudia went home and first helped Conrad take a bath, changed his diaper, and put him on the crib.

She stayed with him until he fell asleep.

Then she went back to her room and took the tablet to search the Internet for everything about that

nasty disease.

The conversation heard in the bathroom kept echoing in her mind. Was it true or false? She could not

tell.

A few days later, Conrad was about to get vaccinated.

Although a rich family like the Crawford could hire a family doctor, Claudia wanted to take her baby out Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

for a walk because the hospital was nearby.

Ben did not come home these days, and she did not ask him, either. Early in the morning after

preparing everything, she put Conrad in a stroller and went out of the house.

When the housekeeper drove them to the downtown square. Claudia got off the car and walked to the

hospital with her kid.

She couldn’t speak, so she wanted Conrad to have more contact with normal people to learn how to

speak.

There were many children getting vaccinated, but since they set out relatively earlier, they didn’t wait in

line for too long.

Conrad was lovely. He just cried for a short while when he saw the needle and stopped once the doctor

talked to him.

The nurses all said, “What an adorable baby! He'll be a handsome boy when he grows up!”

Claudia smiled slightly and held Conrad to the side to get him dressed.

She turned to the outside and heard the nurse behind her and others whispering, “It's a pity that such a

lovely child has a mute mother. Maybe he couldn’t speak in the future!”

Their words broke her heart.

Claudia stood in the corridor and looked at the baby in the stroller. He was her whole life, but she only

felt sorry for him because she couldn’t speak...

Maybe it was better for the baby that she could get her voice back, wasn’t it?

As she thought about this, a low male voice came from behind her, breaking her thoughts.

“Why did you bring him to the hospital alone?”

A man in a white coat with a clear and elegant figure came close to her. Claudia raised her head and

fell into his deep eyes full of tenderness.

Marshall bent down and interact with Conrad. Little Conrad was amused and giggled, with his little

hands grabbing Marshall’s big hand. He looked so cute.

After playing with Conrad for a while, Marshall remembered something and said, “Well, Claudia, wait a

moment. I have something for you!”

She was slightly stunned, but Marshall had already turned around and walked up the stairs.

After waiting for a moment, Marshall came with a small paper bag in his hand and handed it to her, “Try

these medicines!”

Claudia was shocked. Medicine?

“You don’t accept any treatment, so I don’t know the specific reason why you can't speak. But all these

medicines are good for the voice and vocal cords!”

He paused when he noticed Conrad, and added, “They are not actually medicines, but health care

products. There’s no side effect when you take it during the breastfeeding period.”

The paper bag in her hand suddenly felt so heavy.

Ever since her father passed away and her mother went crazy, the only person in this world who cared

about her was Marshall.

He was always thoughtful and meticulous in their engagement. Even now they had no relationship he

still worried about her.

Looking at her beautiful eyes full of appreciation, Marshall smiled and smoothly caressed her head,

“Well, don’t be anxious. I’m not forcing you. If you don’t want to take these, forget it.”

Claudia shook her head and used sign language to indicate that she would take these medicines on

time.

Because she could imagine that Marshall, a cardiothoracic surgeon, had tried various methods and

asked so many friends to get these for her.

She felt particularly grateful just because of that.

“You should listen to me.” He sighed helplessly and scratched her nose with his slender finger, “Call me

anytime if you need help. Don’t make me worry. OK?”

Claudia smiled slightly and lowered her head.

“Remember. I’ll be here for you whenever you need!” He said, slightly moved, and directly reached out

to hold her into his arms.

He was very tall and could easily hold Conrad and Claudia at the same time. He smiled at Conrad.

As if deep in thought, Claudia gently leaves his arms, looking down.

She finally let him down, didn’t she?

Conrad suddenly cried for no reason, and Marshall hurriedly picked him up and gently comforted him.

Claudia stood and looked at him. Such a beautiful scene was seen by Amber who happened to come

to the hospital.

Amber looked at the man holding Conrad, with a sly expression flashed in her eyes. She quickly took

out her phone and aimed at them.

Claudia. I won't let you get out of this!

When Ben returned to his office after a morning meeting at the Crawford Group, the phone on his desk

vibrated.

He received a message and clicked on it. It was a photo.

Gazing at the man and woman on the screen, he zoomed in the photo and stared at Claudia's face.

He frowned and gazed at the picture. Her gentle and lovely smile was like the sunshine after the rain.

He had seen her smile like this before.

It was many years ago...
