Whispers Turn

CHAPTER 503

Sherilyn lay sprawled on the floor, consciousness hanging by a thread, her body devoid of strength, unable to speak or move,

Lost in thought, she noticed someone coming in. It was the cleaning lady.

“Huh? The lights are on?”

The cleaning lady entered the living room,

She had left her phone behind earlier and had come back to retrieve it, only to find Sherilyn on the ground.

“Ms. Gomez?” The cleaning lady paused, then quickly realized something was wrong.

She hurried over, shouting, “Ms. Gomez!”

Crouching down, she lifted Sherilyn, her face pale and eyes shut tight, panic setting in, “Ms. Gomez, what’s wrong? Ms. Gomez, wake up!”

What to do now? Especially with Mr. Gilbert not home!

Right, call the ambulance! And she needed to alert the security guard so they could let the ambulance in!

It was just past five in the morning when Gilbert left the Platinum Pearl Club.

Driving back to Golden Oak Manor, reeking of booze, planning to shower, change, and maybe catch some sleep.

As he passed the community gate, the security guard gave him a look, “Mr. Gilbert, you’re back?”

“Yeah,” Gilbert nodded, not paying much mind.

The guard, trying to be helpful, added, “Mr. Gilbert, is Ms. Gomez alright? No troubles?”

Gilbert paused, his gaze sharpening, “What do you mean? What happened to my wife?”

The guard internally rolled his eyes. Gilbert always referred to Ms. Gomez as his wife, yet she corrected him every time…

Were they married or not?

The guard, sensing the need to clarify, quickly said, “Your wife was taken to the hospital last night, didn’t you know?”

He thought Gilbert was already informed and had headed straight to the hospital.

Gilbert’s expression darkened. “Which hospital?”

“Uh?” The guard was taken aback. He really didn’t know?

Tm asking you, which hospital was my wife to tol Gilbert demanded, his handsome face clouded with anger and concern.

Ironforge General..

With a screech, Gilbert’s car made a sharp U–turn, sparks flying as it sped out of the community.

At the hospital.

Sherilyn had just woken up and immediately called her doctor.

“Dr. Neil, it’s me.”

Dr. Neil was the one who had prescribed her fertility medication.

Over the phone, she recounted the events of the previous night, “that’s what happened. I’m at the hospital now.”

On the other end, Dr. Neil advised, “You’re in your ovulation period. The reaction was quite severe. If you don’t conceive this time, I wouldn’t recommend continuing the medication

Sherilyn fell silent for a moment, then replied, “We’ll see, thank you, Dr. Neil.*

Hanging up, Sherilyn held her phone, sighing deeply.

The more you want something, the harder it seems to get…

Gilbert had arrived, speaking with the doctor at the door.

His elegant features showed signs of last night’s wear and deep concern, “How is my wife? What caused her to faint?”

“The preliminary assessment is that Mrs. Johnson is somewhat weakened, lacking in vitality. We recommend a thorough check–up today to determine the exact cause.”

“Alright.” Gilbert nodded, pushing the door open.

Inside, a nurse was helping Sherilyn drink water.

Seeing him, Sherilyn smiled. “You’re here.”

She continued to sip water slowly.

Gilbert stood there, watching her pale, makeup–free face in the morning light, unhealthy yet beautifully vulnerable.
