Chapter 54 Sorry, No Way
Chapter 54 Sorry, No Way
In the top floor office of the Watson Group, an executive conference was going on.
Intimidated by the cool gleam in Liam’s eyes, people were reporting their work with the most meticulous
care
Thank God! It was Sales Department’s turn to present the performance, everyone breathed a sigh of
relief.
This year found a resounding success in Watson Group. Mr. Croft would be happy with this remarkable
quarterly sales growth. Finally, the senior officers felt able to breathe again. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
While presenting the impressive performance with stylish, well-polished slides, Sales Director glanced
at Liam confidently, only to find he was not watching the data at all. Instead, he was glowering at his
own hand in a stern face.
God, he was watching the phone—there seemed some bad news. He did not look pleased.
That was true. Staring at the pictures on the phone, Liam was simmering with anger and frustration.
Three quick-snapped pictures. Picture 1: Amber was chatting and laughing with a tall young man, each
holding a cup of coffee—obviously purchased from the same store. Picture 2: They were visiting an
exhibition shoulder by shoulder. The man was fencing around the waist of Amber to block her from the
surging crowd. Picture 3: Amber was smiling up at the man while the man was patting her head, in
dubious intimacy.
Liam recognized the young man at first sight. He had seen the man in South University!
Unfortunately, he did not see his face clearly. These pictures only showed his back and a part of his
side face.
Oh, fuck the meeting! Tired of the bragging and nagging by Sales Director, Liam slammed his phone
onto the table: “Session dismissed!”
What? People gazed at one another, dumfounded. It was so not Liam Croft at all. What drove this cold
fish out of control and lose of temper?
How could such a remarkable sales performance fail to please Mr. Croft?
Paled with fear, Sales Director struggled desperately to figure out what was wrong.
Liam stepped out of the meeting room resentfully, leaving all the rest at loss. They exchanged fleeting
quizzical looks and scattered out of the door when Liam’s footsteps heading afar.
Liam did not recollect himself until he drove all the way to the gate of South University.
He hit the brake abruptly. His car halted, causing the rising complaint of drivers behind.
Ignoring the hoot right after the other, Liam called Amber anyway.
“What?” Amber’s tone sounded clipped and cool.
Slightly cooled off, Liam knitted his brow again.
“Miss Currie, you seem to forget about our agreement?”
Paused for a second, Liam still threw out the question. Damn it! It was not righteous for him to question
her dating. In accordance with the contract, she has the right to see someone else.
He could only leverage the condition of living together to ground her in his apartment.
Damn the agreement! It felt so award to live under the same roof with Mia.
Why must she deign to be the hateful other woman?
Mia articulated her mind very clearly. How could she have the cheek to move back?
“Liam, get straight to the point. Bag your dirty tricks.” Amber retaliated. She knew she was venting her
anger towards Mia on him. But she could not help it.
Liam could not recall when the last time was being treated with such crudeness and crudity.
He took a sharp intake of breath and scrabbled around for his equilibrium: “Amber Currie. In
accordance to the agreement, we shall live together for three months. Please comply with the
conditions, or I cannot guarantee the eye surgery for Pearl Currie will performed as scheduled.”
Threatening was the least preferred move for Liam. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to deal with
the badass Amber Currie, except for the agreement, the only opportunity to approach her. They were
poles apart and from two very different worlds.
Amber paused. After a while, she whispered: “Liam, the eye surgery for Pearl…please let me pay you
back when I graduate. Can you cancel the agreement?”
Enough humiliation to be a home wrecker! She was not and would not be the other woman!
Why must she take the shits and live with the brutal insults from Mia?
“Sorry. No way.”
Emphatic in tone, Liam glorified himself as a man of word instead of a control freak who would not let
go of Amber.
Damn you Liam Croft! “Must you bully me with your ECO title, deep pocket and privileges? Why
wouldn’t you give up your reputation or career for Mia, your true love? Damn you, vulgar, mean,
disgusting snob!” In a fit of outrage, Amber threw out her furious reproach.
Wasn’t Mia enough for him? Why wouldn’t he steer clear of her? Was she soulless or heartless than
Mia?
