Chapter 28
Adelie POV
With my hammering heart, I tighten my fingers around Raymond's as we walk side by side toward the entrance door of the mansion, as many thoughts keep lingering on my mind. As much as I don't want to think about it because Raymond asked me not to, I still feel a part of me nervous.
He pushes the door open after he inputs the password, and we walk inside the spacious living room. Just my dad's own, the living room is quite large and beautiful. The couches look extremely expensive, a big chandelier light is hanging on the ceiling, and the place smells really nice.
"Sit here, babe. I'll go get mom and my sister," He says to me, and I slowly nod my head as I sit and wait for him, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
Barely three minutes that he left, multiple footsteps descend down the staircase, and even though I want to check out who the people are, I'm just too nervous to do it.
"Wow! Is she the one? She's so beautiful," A feminine voice whispers, and I finally raise my head to find a young lady about the same age as me, standing with a wide smile on her lips. With the striking resemblance between her and Raymond, I need no one to tell me that she must be his sister. Raymond is standing behind her, smiling.
"Good day. Uhm... I'm... Adelie," I smile at her nervously, my heart beating rapidly against my chest like it's trying to force its way out.
"Wow! You're pretty. Look at you. Oh, my goodness, Ray... She's so gorgeous," She gushes as she glances at Raymond, and I turn my face away shyly. "By the way, my name is Rhea, and I'm his sister..."
"Little sister," Raymond corrects her, and she rolls her eyes.
"Whatever! You are welcome to our home, Adelie. Make yourself comfortable," She says to me, and I nod my head before I take my seat again.
"Don't be nervous, babe. See? I told you she would like you. Mom will be here soon, ok?" He whispers as he sits beside me, and I nod my head.
"What would you like to have? He didn't tell us he was going to bring you today, so we didn't make anything. But I can just go to the kitchen and make you something to eat," Rhea offers, and I quickly decline.
"You don't have to bother yourself. I already ate something before I left home earlier," I decline, and she pouts her lips.
"Come on, you can't come to your boyfriend's house and not eat anything. Wait! Did I say that well? No, I mean husband-to-be," She teases me, and I blush.
"Hmm... I will have anything then," She finally leaves for the kitchen.
"Wow! I am so lucky to have you, babe. You're so gorgeous and sweet," He whines, and before I can react, he pulls me close to himself and plants a kiss on my forehead, making my heart fluster.
"I saw that," A feminine voice sounds around the vicinity, and I quickly pull away from him. There is a woman in her forties, standing with a big smile on her face. I recognize her at once to be Raymond's mom since he has shown me her picture before now.
"Good day, ma'am," I quickly stand up to my feet and bow to greet her, but she pulls me into her arms and embraces me instead, patting my back.
"You're welcome to my abode, sweetheart. My son already told me so much about you, and I'm glad to finally meet you," She says when she pulls away from the hug.
"Thank you, ma'am. It's nice to meet you," I reply to her, and she smiles widely. Wait a minute! How does she still look so pretty at this age? I remember Raymond telling me that she's clocking fifty-five in a few months, but she looks like she's just in her forties.
"You finally made me proud, son. Look at her, she's so pretty," She says as she sits on the couch across from me, and I blush hard.
"You trust me on that, mom. You know I always have eyes for beautiful things, just like dad," He winks at her, and I smile. I like the relationship between the members of this family, and I wish mine can be like this. My mom is always busy with business and never had time to spend with me, and when she has time, she doesn't spend it well with me too, and my dad. He too is always busy with work, going from country to country for business, but the little time he always spends with me is worth it. He would always make sure to make it up to me. And my so-called brother who is supposed to be there for me does nothing, but ruin my happiness and harasses me. I just wish my family can be this perfect.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Raymond, can you come help me get the salt from the cabinet? I can't reach it," Rhea suddenly yells from the kitchen, and as Raymond stands up to go meet her, I follow him secretly, making sure not to let his mom know that I'm following him. Even though I trust him so much, I also need to make sure that he's not like my brother.
I stand in front of the door after he dashed inside the kitchen.
"I thought you wanted to take the salt, Rhea?" His voice sounds from inside.
"No, I have the salt. I just want to tell you that your woman is cute. Does she have a brother?" She says to him, and I smile excitedly.
"Yes, why?" I can hear the anger in his voice as he replies to her.
"Come on, don't give me that look, I was just teasing you," She giggles.
"Whatever!" Raymond scoffs.
"You have to treat her right. She's adorable, and I like her," She says.
"You don't have to tell me that, sweetheart. I know how to treat my woman," He replies to her, followed by his footsteps...
