The Chime family even provided Everly with a car and driver, so she no longer had to use public transport. Now, she finally understood why Giselle became a completely different person after returning to the Killian family. Who could resist the luxuries that money could buy?
"Everly, it's late. I hope I'm not disturbing you," a young girl in a pink dress said as she got out of the car from the other side. It was Natalie Figueroa, daughter of the Figueroas, one of the top ten prestigious families in Jedburgh.
"Not at all. My parents are very kind. They won't mind. Once my clinic is up and running, you can come over for your treatments directly." Everly smiled.
She knew she was merely a pawn in the Chime family and wasn't truly their daughter. Eventually, the truth would come out. So, after the Chime family acknowledged her identity, she used her identity and her skills in beauty treatment to connect with the rest of the circles.
Her goal was to establish more connections and solidify her position.
"Thank you so much." Natalie smiled.
As Everly headed toward the house with Natalie, a familiar voice suddenly called from behind her, 'Everly!" Everly turned around and saw Wayne storming into the courtyard, only to be stopped by two security guards at the entrance. Everly's expression darkened. How dare he come here?
Seeing that Wayne was about to get into a fight with the guards and with Natalie still watching, Everly quickly spoke up. "Security, it's okay. He's my friend."
"Ms. Everly, this man has been lurking around for several days," one of the guards informed her.
"It's fine. I'll go out and talk to him," Everly said. She asked the guards to escort Natalie inside while she led Wayne to a secluded area outside.
"I told you not to come looking for me anymore!" Everly huffed.
She had worked so hard to reach this point. If things continued as planned, it wouldn't be long before she could find her standing and rival Hera. She would even have the means to compete for Bernard!
"Are you out of your mind?" Wayne growled, grabbing her wrist. "Come back with me right now. We need to do a DNA test and clear this up."
The mention of a DNA test made Everly's heart skip a beat. She frantically tried to pry his hand off. "I'm not going! Let me go!"
Wayne refused to release her, so she bit down on his hand in desperation. Even as blood began to flow, Wayne didn't let go and dragged her along with him.
Everly was now screaming, "Wayne, let go of me! I'm an adult. I know what I'm doing!"
Wayne flung her hand away and shouted, "Do you even realize what you're doing?"
"I want to establish myself here, open my own clinic, and gain fame, status, and power. Hera can't give me any of those things, but the Chime family can!" Everly stated. "So, I choose the Chime family. Is it wrong for me to pursue a better future?"
Wayne was speechless and stared at her as if she were a stranger. When had his once innocent sister become so ambitious, willing to stop at nothing to achieve her goals?
Everly sniffled and continued, "Wayne, I appreciate all you've done for me over the years. But if you care about me, let me go! Please don't come looking for me again. Let's cut all ties so that I can pursue what I want!"
After wiping away her tears, she walked back to the Chime residence. Wayne watched her retreating figure for a long time, unable to react.
The rain finally fell, drenching him.
"Let's go. She's made up her mind, and you can't force her back," Nicholas came over with a black umbrella to shield Wayne from the rain.
Wayne snapped out of his daze and looked at Nicholas. "I don't need your help."
"Hmph, like I care!' Nicholas retorted. "I wouldn't have bothered with you if Hera hadn't asked me to come! Now, hurry up. She told me to take you back!"
