Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 573

Hera's eyebrows furrowed uncomfortably at the sight and the noise. She disliked places like this.

She cast her gaze around the room and soon found the eye-catching green shock of hair that was her target. The person she was looking for-Tyler -was currently sitting on the couch, playing dice. He was drinking with some other men in the room.

If he hadn't messaged her and asked her to come here to get what she wanted, she would never have stepped into this kind of place.

Tyler noticed Hera when she made her way through the throngs of people. He moved aside for her to have a seat on the couch with him.

"Here," he said, passing her the dice. "Give it a try."

Hera's frown deepened. "Where's the stuff I want?"

Tyler pretended not to hear her. He purposely leaned in so that his face was just a few inches away from her.

"What did you say?" he asked.

Hera had the urge to give him a few good pricks with a few needles.

Just then, one of the men sitting near them asked, "Tyler, who's this?"

Tyler gestured for them to quieten down and said, "Lower your voices. This is Hera. Call her Mrs. Pres—"

"Shut up!" Hera interrupted with a scowl. He knew what he was going to say.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

The others were astonished to see her interrupt Tyler so abruptly.

Not only did she cut him short, but she grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the room. "Come with me for a while."

"Let go of me. Can you not embarrass me in front of my friends?" Tyler mumbled, slightly annoyed.

He wanted to pry her hand away from his collar, but she wouldn't let go. She continued dragging him out of the room.

Tyler was half a head taller than Hera, so when she grabbed him by the collar and led him outside, he had to bend over as he walked.

The people in the private room didn't dare to stop Hera from dragging Tyler away because of the air of dominance she gave off.

When the two of them finally left the room, Hera let go of Tyler and demanded, "Where is it?"

Tyler clucked his tongue and straightened his shirt but didn't give her what she wanted. Instead, he asked, "Bernard asked you to treat Harvey, didn't he?"

Confused as to what this had got to do with Bernard, Hera asked, "What does this have to do with him?"

Tyler let out a bark of laughter. "He wants you to treat Harvey to stop me from becoming the successor Harvey will cause trouble for me, and I won't have the time to

Hera was speechless. What kind of logic was that?

She suppressed her annoyance and calmly told him, "This has nothing to do with Bernard."

But Tyler was a stubborn one. "I don't care. Refuse to treat Harvey. Only then will I give you what you want."

He kind of made it sound like he was ordering her to comply. Hera didn't like it when people spoke to her like that, and she especially disliked it

when someone ruined her plans.

She curtly responded, "Well then, I don't need it anymore."

Tyler didn't expect her to say that. Since when would a nerd like her give up the chance to obtain a special code like that?

In the past, Hera was thirsty for knowledge. She'd complete all her assignments perfectly, and her ability to learn something was extraordinary.

Tyler even told her to find a balance

between studying and enjoying life so that she wouldn't wear herself out. And she'd always tell him that she couldn't resist the temptation of coding.

Strangely though, his trick of using the code to tempt her this time had failed. Who would believe her when she said that it wasn't because of Bernard?

Tyler clucked his tongue. "Can you not be so unpredictable?"

Hera turned, about to leave. Seeing this, Tyler quickly grabbed her wrist to stop her.

He relented, saying, "Fine. I'll give you the code."

Hera wanted to wring her hand free from him, but she froze when he said that. She eyed him dubiously, wondering just what he had in mind.

"You want my code simply because you want to beat Bernard, don't you?" said Tyler. "In that case, we're considered comrades now. We'll beat him together. So, take it."

As he spoke, he fished out a flash drive from his pocket and handed it to her.

Hera took it and pulled her hand out of his grasp. She then turned to leave. However, she stopped when she saw Bernard standing in the corridor. God knew when he had arrived.

His piercing eyes stared unblinkingly at her, making her skin crawl.

Did he misunderstand her?
