Two Times the Charm

Chapter 406

Chapter 406

“He actually made you a servant?” Elio clenched his fists tightly. “And then he has the audacity to claim he loved you! How could he bear to see someone he supposedly loved suffer?”

“Whether I suffer or enjoy life, it’s my business. You should get out of here. Take Nestor, and leave the country. Don’t interfere in my affairs anymore.”

“But…”

“No more buts! Please, just go. You see what happens when you stick around? I’ll never have a moment’s peace.”

Elio clenched his fists in frustration, but he was out of options.

The guard closed the door abruptly, cutting off their line of sight.

Clara slumped onto the ground, looking as though her soul had been sucked out of her.

was merely up

Just moments prior, she thought that Emmett was merely upset and that she could have found an opportunity to reason with him and asked him to let her go.

But seeing him just then, it was clear he was furious with her. What chance did she have of turning things around?

After what felt like an eternity, she heard the butler’s voice.

“Take this to Ms. Calloway in the back garden.”

“Ms. Calloway?” Clara wa’s taken aback. “Which Ms. Calloway?”

The butler huffed dismissively. “Naturally, the future lady of our house, Leah Calloway. You didn’t think I was talking about you, did you?”

“Leah is at the Melendez’s now?” This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Get moving, don’t dawdle! As a servant, you should know your duties. If you don’t, I’ll make sure you go hungry!” The butler handed her a box and spat on the ground before walking away.

According to him, a woman who betrayed the young master deserved to be scorned

Clara stared at the box in her hands. After hesitating for a long while, she finally made her way to the front hall.

Before she got there, she saw Leah in the back garden. Two servants were supporting her on either side, apparently helping her with rehabilitation.

At the same time, Leah saw her.

Leah waved the two servants away. “What are you doing here? Emmett brought you back?”

“Yes…” Clara rushed to explain, “But you don’t have to think of me as a threat! Emmett brought me back out of hatred; he wants to torture me!”

Leah scanned her from head to toe. She was wearing a servant’s uniform of the Melendez family. She was probably telling the truth.

But as long as Clara was under Emmett’s watch, Leah couldn’t have rested easy.

“You just won’t go away, will you? You hid so well back then, and now Emmett’s found you. I think you did it on purpose! Clara, you better not play any tricks on me! You should know that Emmett needs my antidote to survive.”

Clara opened her mouth to speak, “You’re in the Melendez family now. Haven’t you given Emmett the antidote yet? He has passed out. I saw it with my own eyes!” Leah chuckled, “That’s none of your business! I will naturally give him the antidote. But seeing you here in the Melendez household is annoying me! What should ! do about that? I don’t feel like giving him the antidote when I’m not in the mood.”

“…I, I don’t want to be here! But do you think Emmett would listen to me now? He’s convinced that I’ve betrayed him and that I’ve let him down. Now, my words mean less to him than a dog’s barking!”

Seeing her servant’s uniform and the item in her hand, Leah’s eyes narrowed. It seemed Emmett really did treat her like a servant.
