waiting for someone
Letta immediately left her apartment while occasionally tinkering with her phone, trying to contact Abian.
“Are you awake?” Letta asked as the call connected.
“You just woke me up,” Abian replied, making Letta smile. She could still hear the characteristic groggy voice of someone just waking up from the other end. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“But I’m sure you’re not fully awake yet, right?” Letta said, making Abian just mumble.
“Yeah, but I have to be up now anyway, as I need to send an email to my team still there. Fortunately, you called,” Abian said, making Letta smile.
Letta then stopped in her tracks when she saw two people who always followed her every day, unnoticed by her. After that, Letta continued to walk along the sidewalk towards her workplace.
“Have you gone to work?” Abian asked from the other end.
“Yes, I’m walking towards Coffee Break,” Letta replied.
“Alright, then have a great day. I’ll pick you up later after you finish,” Abian said, making Letta nod.
“Okay, then I’ll hang up,” Letta said, then ended the call and continued walking, occasionally glancing back. They weren’t too conspicuous in following her, but still, they were truly consistent with their work. It made Letta wonder sometimes if they ever got tired of waiting for her every day and tailing her, she thought, eventually choosing to shrug. Indifferent, they were probably paid handsomely for such an easy job, while she had to sweat to earn a few bills every day.
Letta headed straight to the staff room, placed her bag, and then changed as usual. Early in the morning, Coffee Break was always busy serving several customers, then during the afternoon and evening as well. Sometimes Letta forgot to take her medication and vitamins that the doctor prescribed. Sometimes Letta scolded herself because she was someone who didn’t pay much attention to medication. However, Letta hoped that her baby would be fine, just because she didn’t consume those medicines.
Eventually, before she knew it, it was already four in the afternoon, and Letta had finished all her work. There was no overtime for her to do, so Letta bid Molly goodbye to leave first, as it wasn’t her turn to lock the store today. Letta then slung her bag over her shoulder. She immediately put on a smile as she imagined Abian waiting for her in front of Coffee Break.
Letta planned to tell Abian everything about herself after they spent time together and relieved their longing. At least, Letta wanted to keep seeing the smile on Abian’s lips before he might look at her with disappointment.
However, Letta’s steps halted when she saw that the person in front of her was not the one she had hoped for. In fact, Letta couldn’t believe it and almost opened her mouth wide when she saw Marco, who was currently looking at her while folding his arms. His haughty gaze was just as she had seen before.
Letta then looked around, and there was no sign of Abian. Perhaps it was fortunate for her that those two individuals were in front of her. Letta didn’t know what to do, which eventually made her walk quickly towards Marco.
“What are you doing here?” Letta asked, her face showing panic, while continuing to observe her surroundings.
“Why, can’t I meet my future grandchild?” Marco asked, looking at Letta’s still flat stomach, making Letta do the same and reflexively cover her stomach with the bag she was carrying.
“Why didn’t you contact me first? And didn’t your subordinate say that you would be very busy for this month?” Letta said again, making Marco immediately take off the sunglasses that had been perched on his tall nose, so Letta couldn’t say anything when she saw those sharp eyes looking at her, which also emphasized the handsome features before her now.
“Why, you seem not to like it when I come to see you?” Marco said.
Of course not, thought Letta.
“Not like that. Your visit just surprised me,” but that was the only sentence that came out of Letta’s mouth, while still observing her surroundings, making Marco do the same.
“You seem to be waiting for someone. Is there someone you’re waiting for besides me?” Marco asked again, making Letta shake her head.
“No, I’m just observing people because you attract a lot of attention,” Letta said, looking at Marco from top to bottom, reflecting a sense of beauty and luxury.
“Is that so? Well, people are always like that, and that’s just normal to me, so you should start getting used to it when you’re around me. Maybe you’ll feel a bit uncomfortable because everyone’s gaze is on me,” Marco said, making Letta look at him with an incredulous gaze.
“Oh,” Letta said, as if she had misspoken. Marco indeed had a high level of confidence, making Letta decisively listen to him.
“Well, you wouldn’t want to keep talking on the side of the road like this, so it’s better if you get in,” Marco said, opening the door of his luxury car, making Letta look at the luxurious car in front of her. What if Abian was picking her up? Letta didn’t want Abian and Marco to meet right now, but she couldn’t possibly go with Marco either. She had to wait for Abian.
“Actually, I have another appointment, so it’s better that we meet another time. You can go back to your house or carry on with your presumably busy activities,” Letta said, making Marco close the car door again and look at Letta suspiciously.
“It seems my guess was right, you’re waiting for someone, aren’t you?” Marco asked again, making Letta shake her head once more.
“No, I’m waiting for Mia. She’s one of your employees. I have an appointment with her, an appointment between your women, you know, right?” Letta said again, making Marco look at her with suspicion.
“Or, you don’t mind joining us, perhaps?” Letta asked, making Marco fold his arms again.
“Whatever the reason, since I’m here, cancel your appointment with your friend and get in quickly,” Marco said, seeming unwilling to be contradicted, making Letta unable to come up with any other excuse. Letta looked at him with pleading eyes.
“Come on, just this time. I’ve already made a promise with Mia, and after meeting her, I’ll contact you right away and make plans for when we can meet,” Letta said, making Marco shake his head.
“No, get in now, or I’ll do something that will attract attention,” Marco said, making Letta widen her eyes. Of course, the person in front of her was definitely capable of doing things beyond the normal reasoning, and Letta didn’t want that to happen, so she finally let out a long sigh and was about to get into Marco’s luxurious car before someone’s voice stopped her.
“Letta,” the person said, making Letta widen her eyes. Of course, Letta recognized that voice, making Letta finally turn around and look at Abian, who was staring at her with a puzzled expression.
