Torn Between Love and Hate

Chapter 238 Revealing the Truth

Deborah didn’t understand what they were saying.

She only knew that Cassandra was now protecting her, risking her life to save her.

She wants to say something, do something.

But with each passing moment, their strength continued to wane, rendering them unable to move or

even make a

sound.

Mathias was becoming increasingly out of control, his eyes turning a frightening shade of red.

“Get out of my way! You’re soft-hearted, but I’m not! Only when this woman dies can our good days

with the Moxley family continue forever!”

As he spoke, he reached out and grabbed Cassandra by the collar, hoisting her up and then tossing

her aside.

Deborah could see that Mathias was truly beginning to lose his sanity.

The murderous intent in his eyes became vivid and intense.

With the knife in hand, he leaned in toward hier, ready to take her life,

Deborah began to feel fear, and although she knew it was pointless, she couldn’t help but struggle to

move backward.

Not far away, faint footsteps could be heard.

Someone’s coming, it could be the police, or it could be Joseph.

Deborah knew that, in the end, she could be saved.

The footsteps were so soft that Mathias didn’t hear them.

But Deborah felt completely drained of energy, even her vision became blurry. On the contrary, her

hearing became incredibly sharp.

That faint sound of footsteps softly reached her ears.

Her heart leaped into her throat, and she knew that help was coming soon.

Cassandra fell to the ground, watching as Mathias approached Deborah.

She gritted her teeth and got up, lunging forward again, blocking Mathias and grabbing his knife-

wielding arm tightly.

Furious, Mathias forcefully pushed her away.

Cassandra socined to truly disregard her own life and death. Her body wobbled unsteadily as she ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

stumbled a few steps forward, then lunged again, desperately trying to stop him.

Mathias was completely furious, and without hesitation, he thrust a knife toward her shoulder.

“Get out of here, get away from me! It’s because of your soft heart and your weakness that we’ve

ended up in this situation today. If it weren’t for you, I would have found this woman long ago, and

there’s no way she would still be alive today!”

Cassandra winced in pain, taking in a sharp breath of cold air. Her face turned pale, and her other hand

tightly gripped

his arm.

The footsteps behind her approached quickly, and Joseph hurried over. Upon seeing that Deborah

wasn’t being held

hostage, he rushed straight toward her.

He grabbed Mathias from behind by the shoulders and quickly brought him down to the ground.

Cassandra fell to the ground, blood gushing from her arm like a fountain.

She didn’t have time to worry about anything else as she hurriedly crawled toward Deborah, “Are you

alright? Are you hurt?”

Her sleeves were soaked with blood, yet she continued to carefully examine Deborah from head to

toe.

Deborah couldn’t speak, so she could only struggle to shake her head, indicating that she was fine.

Cassandra had been protecting her all along, so Mathias couldn’t hurt her at all.

Deborah felt somewhat dazed, unable to comprehend the intense emotions that Cassandra held for her

in her eyes.

Cassandra’s eyes were red and swollen, her body trembling. Suddenly, she tightly embraced Deborah

with her uninjured hand.

Her voice choked with emotion, “Baby, my aunt’s baby. I owe you so much, and I can never repay you

for all these years.”

The more Deborah listened, the more she couldn’t understand.

It wasn’t until Joseph had beaten Mathias into silence that he stepped forward, pulling Cassandra away

and keeping her at a distance from Deborah.

Cassandra and Mathias are a married couple. In Joseph’s eyes, seeing Cassandra holding, Deborah

and crying makes

him feel uneasy and worried.

The police car followed closely and arrived quickly.

Joseph crouched down in front of Deborah, his face pale and serious, carefully examining her body.

It was only after seeing that Deborah had no injuries that he explained the situation to the police who

had rushed

over.

After examining Deborah’s condition, the police officer said, “She must have been drugged or overly

frightened, causing her body to become weak and unable to make any sound.”

Joseph picked up Deborah and quickly headed toward the car, saying, “Let’s go to the hospital first.”

Walking to the side of the car, he turned back and said, “They are a married couple, so we can’t rule

out the possibility that they might be working together in committing a crime.”

The police officer immediately replied, “Alright, we will take both of them to the police station. Once Ms.

Shepherd’s condition stabilizes, we will then speak with her to get a better understanding of the

situation.”

Joseph nodded, holding Deborah as they got into the car.

Due to being drugged by Mathias, Deborah felt groggy when she arrived at the hospital and

immediately fell asleep.

She didn’t know what tests the doctor had performed on her, nor what medications were used.

When I woke up, I found myself hooked up to an IV drip, and it was already getting dark outside.

The feeling of weakness had disappeared, and after a long sleep, she felt much more refreshed and

energetic.

Joseph sat by the bed, his gaze fixed on her without blinking, his expression weary and worried.

Deborah tried to speak and was now able to produce sounds normally.

“Sorry for causing you trouble again.”

She just felt that maybe it wasn’t that exaggerated.

Joseph advised her to stay put in the company, but she thought to herself, going to the restaurant

across the street to

get some takeout shouldn’t cause any trouble.

Unexpectedly, Mathias, who was far away in Richmond, had actually followed her and had been

secretly keeping an eye on her for quite some time.

Joseph was genuinely frightened by her. It hadn’t been long since the last time Chandler had

threatened her with a gun, forcing her to the edge of a cliff.

He still felt a lingering fear, and seeing Deborah apologizing obediently, his face looked displeased.

“You’re being too polite.”

Each time Deborah apologized, she did so sincerely, knowing she was in the wrong. With a guilty

expression on her face, she reached out to hold his hand.

“Don’t be like that, I really just wanted to go across the street to get some takeaway. How could I have

known that Mathias, who I’m not even close with, would be hiding behind and waiting to catch me?”

Joseph, with a straight face, said, “How could you be wrong? You have as many reasons as an

encyclopedia.”

Deborah could tell that he was genuinely angry. Since being gentle didn’t work, she decided to change

her approach. She put on a serious face and turned her head to look out the window.

“Alright, alright, I admit I was wrong for eating! Next time, I’ll just lock myself in the office. Even if I’m

thirsty, I won’t go out for a drink, and if I’m hungry, I won’t go out for a meal.

Who knows if someone might disguise themselves as an employee and sneak into the company once I

leave the office? With my bad luck, I always get caught wherever I go. I might as well lock myself up

and starve to death!”

Speaking of that previous incident, it was when Chandler had sent someone to hold her hostage with a

gun, right in the lobby of Jingron Design.

That person took the company employee’s work badge and sneaked in.

Joseph also recalled that one time when he realized that even if Deborah stayed in the company, she

wouldn’t be absolutely safe.

Upon reflection, it was indeed his fault.

He shouldn’t just ask Deborah to stay in the company; instead, he should arrange for a bodyguard to

be by her side at all times, keeping a close watch on her. That’s the real way to ensure her safety.

Just because Deborah doesn’t like having someone following her around, it doesn’t mean he can really

stop the bodyguards from doing so.

The indifference on Joseph’s face disappeared immediately. He humbly reached out, gently touching

her shoulder, and apologized to her.

Indeed, it was my oversight. I’ll be more careful next time.”

Deborah immediately tilted her head and generously said, “Alright, as long as you know you were

wrong. Be more careful next time; I’ve been putting up with you for quite a while now.”

Get Boys

Joseph was successfully led astray by her and meekly accepted the scolding, saying, “Alright, I

understand.”

Deborah woke up and felt hungry.

Joseph brought her some food, and after she finished eating, the entire Moxley family arrived, looking

travel-wom and weary.

Deborah has already called the police station, saying that Cassandra didn’t hurt her.

Instead, it was later when he rushed over and saved her life at great risk.

The police station quickly released Cassandra, and as the Moxley family arrived at Deborah’s place,

Cassandra joined them too.

The Moxley family arrived at the hospital room as a big group. They had just finished catching up and

exchanging pleasantries with Deborah when Cassandra entered the room.

Her face was deathly pale, and her eyes were filled with red veins.

The bandage was wrapped around the arm, and the bloodstains on the clothes were still clearly

visible.

Donna felt sorry for her, “I told you long ago that you shouldn’t have kept that man around. But you just

wouldn’t listen, and you never left him.”

After a long silence, Cassandra finally looked at Donna, Sebastian, and Nora.

“Donna, Sebastian, Nora, there’s something I need to tell you all the truth.
