Chapter 223 Seeing the Birthmark
Deborah quickly caught on and asked Adrian directly, “Are you asking where Evelyn went?”
Evelyn and Joseph were the only ones who left. Deborah didn’t think that Adrian would care about
where Joseph went.
Adrian quickly averted his gaze, trying to cover up his curiosity by denying it, “Who asked her? I was
just making a casual remark”
Deborah stopped watching TV and turned to him with a half-joking tone.
“Mr. Moxley, if you care about Evelyn, you really should act sooner rather than later.
She will be flying to Oceanview City with me and Joseph tomorrow morning. That’s where her family is,
and she probably won’t be coming back here much in the future. If you want to see her again, it will all
depend on fate.”
Adrian appeared nonchalant and said, “Oh, it doesn’t matter if I see her again. But I was just curious, I
heard you talking to Joseph earlier, weren’t you planning to move Jingron to Richmond?”
Since the company had relocated to Richmond, it was definitely not possible for them to hire all new
employees.
Evelyn’s position as the CEO’s Secretary was not a low-level job, and it was not something that could
be easily replaced with someone else.
Deborah explained, “Only Jingron’s headquarters has moved here, along with a design company.
Jingron still has other branches in Oceanview City.
Evelyn is the only daughter in her family, and Joseph doesn’t want to make things difficult for her. He
suggests that she discuss the matter with her family.
If she doesn’t want to settle and work in a foreign place, she can follow the CEO of the Oceanview City
branch office, since Joseph has already trained a new secretary.”
After all, for the past three years, Joseph had always been in Oceanview City.
There were still many markets and businesses to be developed over there, so it was impossible to
withdraw all of Jingron’s companies from Oceanview City.
Such a heavy loss would not be worth the gain.
Joseph wouldn’t be so impulsive as to recklessly squander his own assets just for Deborah.
Moving the headquarters over there, and then moving the design company where Deborah worked
over there would be more than enough.
Adrian nonchalantly responded with an “Oh,” and didn’t ask any further questions.
Recently, Deborah couldn’t help but find him increasingly strange, and she couldn’t resist asking.
“You’re not falling for Evelyn, are you? The Moxley family is quite wealthy and may have high
standards, but I must say, Evelyn is genuinely a great person.”
Adrian, as if his tail had been stepped on, immediately retorted anxiously, “Who’s interested in her?
Didn’t you see? She’s the one who’s always chasing after me. It’s you that I’m interested in.”
Deborah spoke calmly, “Mr. Moxley, I understand that among you men, like you and Joseph, there’s a
certain strange desire to compete and win.
You might have some fondness for me in certain aspects, perhaps because of Alyssa. But I’m quite
certain that your. feelings for me are definitely not of that nature.”
Deborah believed that she could still sense whether a man truly liked her or not, and if it was that kind
of liking.
For example, she could feel that Joseph liked her, loved her.
He couldn’t help but draw closer to her, embrace her, and whisper sweet nothings in her ear.
In front of her and in front of others, he displayed two completely different states and faces.
For Adrian, it was not like that at all.
Adrian said reluctantly, “Anyway, I’m not interested in that woman.”
”
Alyssa chimed in from the side, “There’s no shame in being interested. Adults can date, and Ms.
Evelyn is so great.”
Adrian looked at her and said, “You’re just a kid, what do you know?”
Alyssa didn’t like it when others called her a child, and she couldn’t help but provoke him, “I heard that
during Christmas celebrations, elders love to arrange blind dates for their unmarried adult children..
Ms. Evelyn is going back tomorrow, and who knows, she might still catch the last train for a blind date.
Mom, don’t you think so?”
Deborah nodded agreeably, “Oh yes, that’s true. Speaking of which, I heard from Evelyn’s mom earlier
that her daughter is not getting any younger and should settle down. She even asked me to help
introduce her to someone.
It’s quite interesting to mention that at the time, Evelyn was both shy and annoyed, and she couldn’t be
stopped.”
She and Alyssa laughed together, while Adrian sat there, silent as a log.
After they finished laughing, he looked at them and asked, “Is it that funny?”
Deborah, feeling awkward, said, “Ah, it’s alright.”
Adrian stood up and said indifferently, “Not funny.”
After he finished speaking, he stood up and went upstairs.
Deborah couldn’t help but smile as she said, “Alyssa, you might have a little aunt soon.”
Alyssa eagerly said, “Ms. Evelyn? I love having Ms. Evelyn as my aunt; she’s such a wonderful
person.”
Deborah teased her, “How about Mom gives it a try some other day, and plays matchmaker for you?”
Alyssa nodded vigorously, “Of course, of course. But we can’t judge things by their appearance.
Although Adrian seems disdainful, I think the real challenge lies with Ms. Evelyn.”
Deborah tapped her head and said, “Smart!”
Alyssa chuckled with a playful “hehe.”
It was getting late, so Deborah turned off the TV and took Alyssa upstairs to go to bed..
She first prepared a bath for Alyssa, and after Alyssa finished bathing and went to bed, she then went
to the bathroom.
to wash herself.
As she washed, Evelyn thought about her situation with Adrian.
Well, it’s funny. I didn’t really think about it before, but now that I give it some thought, I realize they
actually make quite a good match.
She couldn’t help but laugh, thinking that one day she should try to probe Evelyn’s thoughts.
As for Adrian, his words didn’t match his true feelings. Tonight, his thoughts were clearly written all over
his face.
He had never been in a serious relationship before, and to make matters worse, Evelyn was originally
brought by Joseph to deliberately embarrass him.
So, it was definitely hard to admit, that he had developed feelings for Evelyn.
Deborah absentmindedly entered the bathroom and just as absentmindedly finished her shower,
reaching for her clothes to put on.
She just realized that she didn’t bring my clothes in, and there was only a white bath towel in the
bathroom.
Outside, Alyssa was already asleep in bed; she was sleeping soundly.
Deborah cracked open the door and called out “Alyssa” a few times, but received no response.
Deborah had no choice but to grab a towel and tie it around her chest.
Then, she opened the bathroom door and went out to get some clothes to wear. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Just as she stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to the sofa near the bedroom, she suddenly
heard the sound of a door opening behind her.
Deborah was startled and suddenly remembered that she might not have locked the door.
During her stay at Moxley Manor, she had gradually let her guard down and didn’t pay much attention
to locking the doors anymore.
She immediately raised her hand to cover her chest before turning around.
The bedroom door had already been opened, and to her surprise, it was Mathias standing outside.
Mathias was Rebecca’s father.
He stood at the bedroom doorway, staring intently at Deborah.
Deborah was wearing only a bath towel, with a large portion of her back and thighs exposed.
She covered her chest and, seeing that Mathias didn’t leave, she said coldly with a stern face, “Please,
get out.”
Mathias remained standing, not leaving. After a while, he actually walked into the bedroom,
approaching Deborah.
Mathias was certain that what he had just seen was not an illusion.
On the left side of Deborah’s back, near her shoulder, there was a noticeable birthmark.
Similar to a heart shape, just like that baby girl’s back then.
In this world coincidences might happen once, but they could not occur that many times.
Deborah bore a striking resemblance to Nora, which was quite a remarkable coincidence.
And now, she had the coincidental birthmark appearing on her body at the same time.
This was no longer something that could be explained away as a coincidence.
It seemed as if Mathias couldn’t hear Deborah’s words, and he continued to walk toward her,
somewhat absent-mindedly.
