Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Chapter 22: Mary.
I thought my heart was beating rapidly when Nikolai asked me to go for a run with him, that was an understatement to how fast my heart was beating now that we were actually running. Trees and shrubby zipped by us. Eventually I couldn’t tell what was what because we were going so fast, I was terrified that Nikolai might trip over a tree branch and send us flying, but I knew that his senses were keener than mine, and he had a lot more experience with running than I did. I couldn’t tell where Nikolai was taking us, all I could tell was that we were heading upwards. Just as quickly as the run had begun it had stopped. Nikolai carefully helped me off his back, gently settling me on the ground, making sure I could maintain my balance, before he stepped away. I looked around at the scenery and was amazed. Nikolai had taken us up to a beautiful cliff, that had a lone waterfall, the waterfall entered into a shallow pond, that had steam coming from it, the water was crystal clear and I could see the rocks at the bottom. We were surrounded by a thicket of tress, I couldn’t see past them except for the man-made trail that we had traveled here on.
“Wow, this view, is stunning.” I mumbled while I took in the surroundings.
“So what did you think of the run?” Nikolai asked, drawing my attention back to him.
“Well, I guess that’s one way to travel, although I don’t think its my favorite. You nearly gave me a heart attack a few times.”(This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) I replied, unable to hide the smile from my face.
“A heart attack?” Nikolai asked raising his eyebrow questioningly.
“Yes! I thought you were going to hit a tree a time or two and send us, well more like me, flying through the air.”
“I would never let you fall, Mor AparoveHHBIÉ.” Nikolai replied, a faint smile on his face.
“What does that mean?” I asked Nikolai, suddenly curious about the name he called me quite often.
“Although, if I let you fall, it might get rid of some of my problems.” Nikolai teased me, ignoring my question on the nickname.
I stuck out my bottom lip and pouted at him teasing me and not answering my questions.
Nikolai stepped forward and brushed my bottom lip with his thumb, sending sparks racing through my body, “When you pout like that, you don’t seem quite so fierce.” Nikolai mumbled staring at my lips.
“I am still fierce.” I growled out, sounding like a whiny child before I continued in a more mature way, “But Maybe I am just getting more comfortable around you, so I can lower my shield a little more when I’m with you.”
Nikolai frowned at my response, before dropping his hand and putting some distance between us. “Don’t ever let your guard down little one, you are in a palace full of beasts, your very existence is in danger constantly, not only by my kind, but by yours as well.”
“Why did you bring me here?” I asked Nikolai, ignoring his warning. It seemed like anytime we got
closer, he would say or do something to push me away.
“This is where I come to relax, it’s my place of Zen. Up here I can be myself. I don’t have to be King Nikolai, I can forget my responsibilities for a moment and just enjoy being me.”
I nodded my head in understanding. Sometimes it was nice to escape reality, especially when your reality was as bleak as mine had become.
“Come on now,” I said smiling at Nikolai, teasing him again, “It can’t be to bad being the King. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com)(This novel will be daily updtaed at
www.noveljar.com)Everyone has to abide by your command, you can do whatever and whomever you want, you’re the most feared, most powerful person in the world.”
Nikolai sighed, running his hand down his face, I could tell by his mannerism that he’d had this conversation before. “No one seems to get it.” Nikolai mumbled under his breath, his back turning away from me.
I don’t know where the courage came from but I wanted to, no needed to be near Nikolai, I needed to feel him against me, and assure him that everything was fine, before my brain could acknowledge what I was doing, my feet had already begun walking towards Nikolai, I stopped right behind him, wrapping my arms around him and laying my head on his back. I felt him stiffen at my touch, I was . nervous he was going to pull away, but instead he turned to face me.
“Im not sure, you seemed lonely, and I felt an overwhelming sense of urgency to comfort you.” I responded quietly still not sure why I was holding onto Nikolai.
“Mmm.” Nikolai said still looking down at me, not sure what to make of my response.
I brought my face away from his chest and looked up into his beautiful cerulean eyes. “You know you can talk to me right?” I told him, “It’s not like I have anyone to blab off too. Your pain, your stressors, your secrets, they’re safe with me.”
you doing to me?” His whispered into my hair, inhaling my scent.
“I’m not sure.” I responded back to him, whispering quietly, not wanting whatever was happening between us to break, “It feels as if something about you is driving me towards you, almost like we are strung together by a powerful essence.”
Nikolai’s back stiffened, and I knew I had said something wrong, the moment, whatever was
us was gone. I let my arms drop to my side at the same time Nikolai let go of me, he had a look in his eyes that I couldn’t describe, it almost seemed like a look of desperation, but what would he of all people have to be desperate about. The look in his eyes was gone before I could decipher in it.
The air around us was thick with tension, and I nervously started picking at my fingers, it was a bad habit that my mother had tried to break me of. At one point in time, I had thought the habit had been broken, but then the war broke out, and we were hunted down like vermin, and well now the habit was
back again
“Why is there steam wafting off the water?” I asked breaking the silence. “It’s not cold up here.”
Nikolai chuckled, turning his attention toward the water. “Its a natural hot spring. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com)The waterfall going into the water is ice cold, but the water in the pond is warm. The rocks that you can see on the bottom of the pond have been heated magma. Usually the temperature would be to hot to enjoy or bathe in, but since the waterfall is pouring into the pond, it makes the water the perfect temperature, and the natural minerals in the water offer a soothing, purifying experience.”
“Mmm, that sounds wonderful.” I respond, wanting to dip my body into the pond.
“You should try it out.” Nikolai said, still facing the pond.
“Uhh..I’m only wearing my gown.” I respond, heat rushing towards my face.
“I’ve seen you in a skimpy little bikini before.” Nikolai responds back, still turned towards the hot spring, “I know for a fact your undergarments cover more of you than that bikini did.” I could sense some anger coming off of him, as he mentioned that little fact.
I let out a heavy sigh, “That is true, I guess, but you have to face towards the waterfall, you can’t look elsewhere until I am submerged in the water.”
Nikolai let out a laugh, “I’ve been knuckle deep inside your wet pussy, yet I still cant see you naked?”
I knew my face was as a red as a tomato, I had never been around a man that was so brash about what he did or did not do.
“Yes.” I finally stammered out. “Now do as you’re told for once.”
Nikolai laughed again, but continued to face the water. I quickly stripped off my dress and walked towards the water, on the end furthest from the waterfall. I dipped my toe in and let out a low moan of pleasure. The water felt amazing, I continued to walk into the pond, fully submerging my body, my eyes closing in the bliss of how wonderful this felt. When I opened my eyes again, Nikolai was staring in my direction. His eyes flicker from red to cerulean and back again.
“It seems like you’re enjoying the pond.” Nikolai said with a smile on his face as he walked slowly towards me, like a lion stalking its prey.
“This the most relaxed I’ve been in awhile.” I respond, not at all worried about him nor his vampire side coming out.
Nikolai’s eyes turned back to cerulean having won the battle with his beast, his lips twitched up in the corner, almost giving way to a smile.
“You should join me.” I tell Nikolai staring into his eyes.
“Maybe next time, Mo’ Aparouehhbål,” Nikolai said his eyes grazing over the parts of my body he could see.
“Next time then.” I smile, playfully splashing at him.
Nikolai let me splash and play around in the water for a few more minutes before he cleared his throat grabbing my attention again.
“We need to head back to the palace. I need to get ready to head over to the Werewolf Fairy border.
I looked up towards the sky and noticed the sun had begun to set, I didn’t realize how much time had passed. It only felt like I was in the water for a few minutes.
“Time seems to barely pass when you’re in the springs, I’ve been here before, just lounging in the water, and when I finally returned back to the palace, a week had passed, Kade and the council were incredibly angry by my disappearance,” Nikolai stated, responding to my look of confusion.
“Oh.” I responded, still getting used to the magic in the world.
I quickly got out of the water, and pulled my dress on over my head, ignoring the fact that I was still drenched.
“We will teleport back to my room, I would run, but I dont want you freezing to death.” Nikolai said as - (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) he wrapped his arm around me, at the same time I let out a shiver, letting him know that I was indeed
getting cold.
Once we were back in Nikolai’s room, he quickly changed out of his suit and into more casual clothes, before turning to me. “Feel free to make yourself comfortable in here. I should be back before morning, try not to get into any trouble while I’m gone.”
“How am I suppose to get into trouble when you’re locking me in your bedroom.” I asked my hands on my hips, annoyed by the fact he still planned on locking me in.
“Its you Mary, you always find a way.” He said smiling before he disappeared.
I ran to the door and checked it, it didn’t budge, I ran into the bathroom hoping to find the door to my room, but to my shock it was no longer there. Nikolai had effectively locked me in for the night.
I let out a groan of displeasure, before throwing myself on his bed, smirking at the fact my clothes were still drenched. Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
