The Unshackled Queen: Never Say Never

Chapter 1987

“That’s because I want to compete fairly with you,” Peterson replied.

“But it’s different when it comes to her.”

Maloney shrugged it off, thinking that the young man was simply acting on impulse and didn’t take the situation seriously.

He decided not to get too involved.

“Alright, don’t worry, Maloney said with a nod.

“I won’t tell her what you’ve said today.”

Peterson was satisfied with Maloney’s reaction and thought to himself that he might spare Maloney from any further complications.

If he were to quietly kill Maloney, Hannah would Likely be upset.

What Maloney didn’t realize was that the young man he considered an impulsive brat was actually plotting to kill him.

By the time the two returned to the manor, it was already afternoon.

Hannah was enjoying coffee with Remington in the pavilion outside when Maloney wheeled Peterson in.

Peterson greeted, “Hannah, Remington, I’m back.”

Remington turned his head and noticed Peterson’s ankle was tightly wrapped in a cast.

He was being pushed in a wheelchair as he sat, smiling.

Remington frowned and said, “Didn’t I tell you not to go to the racecourse? How did this happen?”

“It’s all my fault,” Hannah interjected.

“If we hadn’t been competing, nothing would have happened to him.”

“It’s not her fault… I was eager to win, and the horse lost control.

It was Hannah who saved me,” Peterson explained.

Seeing Peterson’s carefully crafted “innocent” expression, Maloney couldn’t suppress an internal eye roll.

The kid was remarkably skilled at playing the part.

Remington shot him a stern look and said, “Alright, take a rest for a while.

No more running around!”

Peterson nodded with feigned obedience and said, “Alright, I understand.

Thank you, big brother.”

“Since you’re injured, let the servant take care of you.

Don’t trouble Mr.

Pierce.”

“Thank you, Mr.

Pierce, for taking me to the hospital.”novelbin

“You’re welcome.”

Maloney finally released the handle of the wheelchair and walked over to sit beside Hannah.

“I can’t stand all this politeness,” he said with a hint of annoyance.

Noticing the cast on Peterson’s foot, Hannah asked with concern, “Did you get an X-ray? How bad is the fracture?”

“Nothing serious.” Peterson smiled.

“The doctor prescribed some medication and allowed me to come back home.”

A frown lined Hannah’s forehead.

“You should stay in the hospital for a few more days before being discharged.

How could the doctor let you come back today?”
