Shakira said "Okay," and hung up the call.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Sean heard the conversation inside and nearly jumped up. "What do you mean? Are they actually suspecting you now? Don't they have evidence?
"It was Mitchell's own foolishness that got him into this mess. If it weren't for you carrying him back from the mountain for surgery, he'd be drinking the forgetfulness tea by now," Sean said.
Jasmin furrowed his brow. He didn't know the full story but didn't want Shakira involved in any trouble. "Why don't we just hand him back to the Nelson family?"
Shakira said softly, "If we return him to the Nelson family, he'll never open his eyes again."
She reassured them, "I'll go over there, but please look after Mitchell for me."
Shakira cooperated with the police during their questioning. After giving a brief statement, they allowed her to leave.
As she exited the interrogation room, Rebecca, who was waiting outside with a fierce expression, rushed up to her without a word. Her eyes, red and tear-stained, were filled with malice as she raised her hand high. "Shakira, why wasn't it you who died?" Shakira's eyes turned cold. She grasped Rebecca's wrist and pushed her back forcefully.
"Mom!" Yvette, standing beside Rebecca, had a quick flash of emotion in her eyes, filled with anger. "How could you lay a hand on Mom?" After saying that, she seemed about to strike Shakira again, like she was avenging Rebecca.
This time, Shakira not only grabbed her wrist but also gathered strength in her other hand and gave Yvette a hard slap across the face.
With a sharp smack, the entire room fell silent. Yvette held her face in disbelief, shocked that Shakira had slapped her in front of so many people!
The police reacted quickly, immediately stepping in to separate them.
Cody, Finn, and Felix each grabbed Rebecca with one hand while trying to help Yvette with the other, keeping themselves quite busy. However, their eyes were all filled with the same cold hatred as they looked at Shakira.
With her beloved son missing and her precious daughter having been slapped, Rebecca's gaze towards Shakira was like a dagger. She wished she could erase the thorn in her side completely.
Fuming with anger, she said, "Fraser, Shakira is definitely the culprit. She's the one who killed my son and hit my daughter. How can you let her go? Arrest her and punish this terrible woman!" Fraser's face darkened a bit, "As of now, there's no solid evidence linking Ms. Nelson to Mr. Nelson's disappearance, so we won't arrest anyone without reason. As for what just happened... He paused for a moment, then turned his eyes to Shakira.
Meeting Fraser's indifferent and questioning gaze, Shakira calmly replied, "They started it. Since you didn't help me, I had to defend myself."
While speaking, she pointed at the surveillance camera above her. Fraser's face turned completely dark.
"And..." Shakira confidently said, "Even Fraser mentioned there's no proof connecting me to the case, yet the Nelson family

have insulted me and tarnished my reputation.
"They've even resorted to threats. Now, everyone at the police station can stand as witnesses for me. Fraser, shouldn't you be protecting a victim like me?" Shakira said.
No one expected Shakira to turn the tables on them. Cody and Rebecca were so furious their faces turned different shades of pale.
"You ungrateful brat! How can you shamelessly say such things!" Cody angrily said.
He, clenching his teeth, continued, "Mitchell is your brother, your own flesh and blood. You're selfish and greedy, deceiving him into seeking out that nurse from years ago just to spite us, to make us feel guilty so we'll compensate you more." Rebecca was furious, but sadness immediately overcame her, tears blurring her eyes. "There are so many curves on that mountain road, and it's so high. His car fell and got completely crushed, and we still haven't found him...
"You have no idea how horrifying the scene was! All for your selfishness, he's risking his life, and yet, Shakira, do you still want to remain so cold-hearted?" said Rebecca.
Listening to Rebecca's tearful accusations, Shakira's face remained expressionless. "I never asked or requested him to do anything for me. I made it clear long ago; I've cut ties with the Nelson family and I will not come back."
Shakira's words were cold and indifferent, "Why does the Nelson family keep pestering me repeatedly? Do you want to see me embarrassed; to see how miserable my life is without the Nelsons? Since you can't see the picture you imagined, are you trying to pin groundless accusations on me?"
As Shakira spoke, her intense gaze swept over Yvette. "If you truly want justice for your son, you need to investigate how the accident occurred, rather than blaming me to gain a false sense of relief."
Hearing this, Yvette was taken aback- 'Did Shakira discover something new? Or did Mitchell notice something and warn Shakira ahead of time?' No, she can't know anything. If she had any evidence, she would have certainly said something by
now.

Yvette tried to convince herself, but her heart was still racing and wouldn't calm down.
Just then, there was some commotion outside the door. A few men in suits walked in and introduced themselves to Fraser, "Hello, I'm Ms. Shakira Nelson's lawyer. From now on, any questions will be handled by me on her behalf."
Seeing the scene, Felix let out a cold sneer, "You talk like you're all clean and innocent, even bringing a lawyer with you. Shakira, are you sure you don't have something to hide?"
Shakira was about to reply when a cold and sinister voice came from behind the well-dressed men, "She's too important to waste time dealing with people like you. You're not worth it."
Everyone turned to look, their expressions changing when they saw the proud and aloof man sitting in the sleek silver wheelchair.
Shakira was surprised, "What are you doing here?"
Walter shot her a glare, "You have the nerve to ask."
Shakira was confused, "Huh?"
Brian coughed and explained, "You only took half a day off from school, but the professor reported her for skipping class this afternoon to the grade supervisor. Xanthe was worried you would get in trouble, so she had the supervisor contact Walter." She knew Xanthe wasn't very reliable, but this was a whole new level of unreliability, wasn't it? She thought to herself, 'And now they're even calling in Walter. How can getting in trouble be scarier than dealing with him?
09:38 Wed,
Thinking of Walter's icy glance earlier, Shakira swallowed and nervously moved behind him, "I actually sorted everything out already. We can leave now, you didn't have to come all this way, really."
Upon hearing this, Walter retorted, "You've been dealing with skipping classes till now. If I didn't come, how much longer did you plan to wait?"
Shakira suddenly realized, "Oh, this morning? I went to the spa. had a special appointment with Mr. Tucker that I couldn't reschedule. I've barely been here for an hour."
Walter was quite speechless.
