Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Cling to William?

Evelyn emerged from the bathroom and was startled to see Henry lying in bed. She prayed silently that

he hadn’t heard anything.

His eyes tightly closed, Henry seemed to be in a deep sleep. The furrowed brow hinted at his less–

than–pleasant mood at the moment.

Feeling sympathy, Evelyn reached out to smooth the wrinkles on his forehead,

“It won’t happen again, ever.”

For the rest of her life, she vowed not to let this man worry or feel troubled because of her.

Thinking about Henry’s explanation earller, she couldn’t help but feel a bit pleased. If the drink. had little

effect on Henry, did it mean that nothing happened between him and that woman in her previous lives?

Evelyn chuckled to herself, leaning against Henry and eventually falling asleep.

The next morning, she

Woke up early, intending to have breakfast with Henry.

As she descended the stairs, Henry happened to leave. Even though he noticed Evelyn’s approach, he

didn’t spare her a glance, leaving without saying a word.

The look on his face made David, who was following behind Henry, become extra vigilant.

His intuition told him that Boss was not in a good mood. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Evelyn hurried a few steps to

catch up with David, “What’s wrong with him”

“Madam, besides you, who else could make Boss so angry? Think about what you’ve done.”

She was taken aback by his words, biting her lip and letting him go. She felt a bit dejected.

Did Henry hear what happened last night?

Hurrying to the car, David said, “Boss” He quickly forced a smile, “Madam…”

“You don’t need to tell me her affairs”

“Yes, Boss.” David nodded repeatedly. “Boss, even though you don’t want to hear it, I have to

report to you.”

Observing Henry, David continued, “When you left, she seemed quite disheartened, and her

foot appears to be injured.”

If he remembered correctly, Evelyn tiptoed up the stairs just now.

15:15 Sat, 17 Feb D.

“Hmm.”

Henry picked up the nearby documents, “Let’s go.”

After the car had driven a few meters, he added gloomily, “Call Frank to come over.”

“Yes, I guarantee that Doctor Johnson will be here within half an hour.”

He knew, just mentioning Madam’s injury, Boss was already very concerned.

Until Frank arrived to treat her wound, Evelyn finally eased her anxiety.

Frank, the family doctor and a good friend of Henry, couldn’t help but tease when he saw her

in such a state.

“How did you manage to run this time, only injuring one foot?”

Evelyn frowned, “I hurt one foot, and you think that’s not enough?”

“Be well–prepared if you want to run; otherwise, you’ll only end up with more injuries,” Frank

reminded while organizing his medical kit.

Evelyn wasn’t appreciative. “Are you here to tease me?”

She gave him a disdainful look, “But you’ll be disappointed; I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want

to run anymore.”

Before she could say anything else, a special reminder popped up in her email – a message

from the research institute, the one left to her by her grandmother.

It was a message from Gavin Flute, the person in charge of the institute. They agreed to meet at this

upscale beauty salon in the city center.

***

This was the most luxurious/beauty salon in Memphis, filled with antiques from various dynasties,

creating a unique sense of luxury. And all this extravagance was under her

grandmother’s name.

Meanwhile, Mia also happened to arrive at the salon and spotted Evelyn in the lobby.

Accompanied by Emily, Mia noticed Evelyn’s presence, and jealousy welled up in Emily’s eyes.

“Mia, that bitch hurt you and still dares to appear in front of you. We can’t just let her off like

this.*

Hearing Emily’s words, Mia began to play the victim again. “Emily, Evelyn was just angry for a

moment. It wasn’t intentional. You…”

Wasn’t it intentional? It’s not your fault that William likes you…”

Emily walked angrily towards Evelyn.

Π

“Evelyn, why are you so despicable? You’re already married, why do you still cling to William?”
