Cindy had heard rumors about Linda making a request to Hannah. Since she was inundated by scandals, she wanted Hannah to give her more resources so she could appear more on TV shows and gain some goodwill. For example, Linda volunteered herself to play a role in the urban romance drama Ian was starring in. Apparently, she wanted to act as a likable supporting character.

However, Hannah didn’t give her that role, since she thought it didn’t suit Linda’s image. But then she turned around and gave the drama’s protagonist role to Ian, and that probably upset Linda.

That was how the entertainment world worked. An unfair distribution of resources would be enough to cross a lot of people, but honestly, it wasn’t as if Ian could do anything about that. Besides, with how bad-tempered Linda was, a single likable character wasn’t enough to turn her bad reputation around.

On the other end of the call, Cindy answered, “I see. I’m fine, so don’t worry. This doesn’t affect me much.”

Cindy was just a nobody, so it was easy for her to get herself out of this whole mess, but for the moment, everyone who went past her would either stare at her with a silent message in their eyes, or they’d pretend she didn’t exist. No matter how they looked or didn’t look at her, she thought she was being antagonized. Suddenly, she felt exhausted about the whole affair, and she felt sorry for Ian.

Sure, she might be in the center of the storm, but she didn’t have to face anyone. All she had to do was lock herself up and ignore all the comments, but not Ian. He had to cheer himself up and look happy for the camera. Even though he was also in the center of the storm, he had to act like a gentleman. Must be hard for him.

A while later, she heard a group of people gossiping happily beside her. They weren’t loud, but it was enough for Cindy to overhear. They were talking about the scandal that went viral online, but they didn’t

say anything about Cindy. However, it was obvious that they were mocking her.

They didn’t support Linda, but they weren’t on Ian and her side either. They knew Cindy probably heard them, so they glanced at her, but they didn’t quiet down. Apparently, they wanted her to hear them.

Refusing to let the conversation affect her, Cindy slowly went to a room where nobody was around. Apparently, the room was about to be converted into a store room, so there was a lot of miscellaneous stuff in there. After Cindy went in, she sat on a chair. Since nobody ever came around, she finally got some peace and quiet, so she leaned back and spaced out.

Cindy never liked crowded places, but she was working in the most crowded industry of all. She let out a sigh and stared up at the ceiling that was kind of dirty.

Ian didn’t stay to chat after he was done shooting either. He quickly went out and headed toward where Cindy was sitting earlier, but she was nowhere to be found. A frown creased his forehead. He wondered if the crew bullied her in his absence, since the court of public opinion seemed to dislike her at the moment. In the end, he made a call to her.

Ian put his phone to his ear and went aside as he waited for Cindy to take the call, but before he could go far, he heard her phone ringing from the other side. And so, he strode over only to see Cindy sitting in the store room. What he saw disturbed him. Cindy was frail to begin with, and her sitting in the storeroom where everything was haphazardly placed made her look like a damsel in distress. Of course, Ian knew she was in distress because of him.

Cindy didn’t see him standing near her. She stared at her phone, stood up, and took the call. “Oh, you’re done, are you?” She raised her arm, obviously going to stretch herself, but before she could stretch her arm, she saw Ian standing right there staring at her.
