Chapter 2044 Reconciliation and Guilt
With that, Logan hurriedly sat down next to Lola and asked, "What's going on? What did they just say?"
However, Lola leaned her face on his arm and wiped her tears on his sleeve. "What took you so long?"
He sighed in response. "I expected that woman would say something useful, but she just wasted my time with a bunch of cr*p. I should've just had the bodyguards 'take care' of her."
Lola sighed as well upon hearing his answer. "Can you please take it easy? Stop doing all that illegal stuff."
With that, Logan hurriedly swallowed all he was about to say. "No, no. I wouldn't dare when I have you by my side. I'm very well behaved now. All about positivity and everything."
Not wanting to continue the blather with him, Lola turned her head back to Ian and Cindy.
Meanwhile, Ian had turned to his side and hugged Cindy, stroking her back.
The couple shared a similar past, which was indeed heart-wrenching.
Next, it was Aurora's turn to give a speech.
Aurora had also been brought to tears earlier, so her voice quivered when she first spoke.
With that, she collected herself, and it took her quite a while before she could speak again. "Actually, I've been waiting for this day all this while. I'm very pleased with Cindy. I hope Ian and her will live in happiness forever. I'm sure all of you know about my past, and it is disgraceful. I gave Ian up to the Morgan Family and never cared about his well being. Regardless of the reason for my action, I failed as a mother and for that, I want to apologize to him and ask for his forgiveness." Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Though Aurora's relationship with Ian had gotten much better, she still hadn't earnestly apologized to her son yet.
Meanwhile, the couple stood aside on the stage, and Cindy turned to wipe Ian's tears despite weeping herself.
After Aurora finished her words, she turned to Ian, weeping as well.
Cindy sniffled a couple of times before turning around to wipe her tears. Truth was, she hated sappy situations like this.
She was easily moved, so she would cry as soon as things got sentimental.
It was a celebratory day, so it would be inappropriate for everyone to be crying.
Ian had long put his resentment for his mother away. He would indeed resent her when things got miserable in the past but he was living his best life now, so he just let things go.
With that, he walked to his mother and hugged her, saying nothing else.
Aurora cried the hardest, and her tears were filled with guilt, as well as relief.
Logan felt a tiny lump in his throat as he watched Ian and Aurora from his seat.
Others might not have known what Ian's life was like in the past, but he knew all too well.
At that, he took a gander at Sean, who was sitting not too far from him.
Sean was pretty much deadpan, only fixing his gaze on the mother and son on the stage. Logan couldn't tell if he was sad or melancholy.
So, after some hesitation, he approached Sean.
Right as Logan sat down next to Sean, the latter spoke up. "You have something to say to me?"
"Yeah," Logan then admitted, "Do you feel guilty seeing them like this now?"
Upon hearing that, Sean turned to him, thinking that Logan was asking a ridiculous question. "Guilty about what?"
After a pause, he added, "Why should I feel guilty?"
He genuinely felt no guilt at all. It was true that Ian's life in the Morgan household was miserable, but Sean never bullied Ian. He just never saved Ian when the latter was being bullied.
He didn't think he had done wrong. After all, he never bullied Ian when everyone else did, so Sean felt no guilt.
Logan pursed his lips at that. He was obviously on Ian's side. "Why should you feel guilty?! Don't you think you guys should be held accountable for what Ian's life was like when he was living with you guys?"
"Is it really my responsibility?" Sean retorted.
In the end, he successfully rendered Logan speechless.
