Chapter 1988 The Mysterious Boss

Cowards. I shouldn't have let them talk about me behind my back in the first place. The employee who mocked Cindy earlier looked worried. She didn't care about Cindy, but she had to be wary about her connection. Serena was a strict woman, but she could actually be nice to Cindy. That alone proved that Cindy's connection had absolute power in the company. It would be easy for Cindy to trip her up whenever she wanted to.

Thanks to Cindy's retaliation, everyone shut up and went back to work. Ah, peace and quiet. She pulled a long face and went back to her unfinished draft, but a few moments later, she heard the sound of a chair rolling over. I know that sound anywhere.

This lady loved to gossip, and she always came to Cindy for the latest one, but Cindy wondered if the lady was stupid. She wants to talk about me? Does she think I'll actually spill my secrets? Dumb.

The lady huddled closer with a sneaky look on her face. "Do you actually know the boss?"

Cindy didn't look at her. "Yes."

The lady clicked her tongue. "And I thought you were Serena's relative. Didn't think you were more powerful than that."

Cindy chuckled.

The lady said again, "I mean, even Mary is nice to you. If you're just Serena's relative, she won't have

that kind of attitude." For some reason, she sighed and rolled back to her spot.

Since her colleagues had shut up, Cindy put that little episode behind her. It wasn't a big deal anyway. Women would always gossip if they were in a group. Cindy went back to work, but a while later, someone called her name. She was feeling a bit groggy, and she looked up to see who it was. Mary? When did she get here?

Mary was smiling at her. "Are you busy? Mr. Kaufmann wants to see you."

Mr. Kaufmann? Who's that? "Huh? Right now?"

Mary nodded. "I'll take you to him."

Cindy was still confused. She looked at her work and said okay before putting them away.

All the apprentices stopped working and turned to look at her. Cindy didn't know who Mr. Kaufmann was, but the apprentices did. Since Mr. Kaufmann wanted to see her, it proved that Cindy's connection was powerful. The lady who mocked Cindy earlier was pursing her lips, and she looked worried about her job.

Cindy left the office with Mary, and they walked into an elevator. Cindy asked, "Do you know why Mr. Kaufmann wants to see me? I don't even know him."

Mary smiled. "Mr. Kaufmann doesn't come here a lot. He only comes once every few months. Now that he asked for you, there must be a reason, but I don't know the details."

Cindy nodded. She had no other questions, so she followed Mary until the top floor. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

It was a different place compared to the lower floors. The decoration of the lower floors was lavish enough, but the top floor was even more so. It looked more like a private backyard than an office. It didn't have the cold, hard feeling of the office, and instead, it felt warm.

Mary led Cindy to a glass door, and she knocked on it.

Cindy saw the man inside through the glass door. He was a middle-aged man, presumably the guy called Mr. Kaufmann. He was brewing tea, looking relaxed.

Mr. Kaufmann turned around when he heard the knock and nodded.
