CHAPTER 26
John showed me the Paternity test and it was a match. It was shocking to think he was the one who had invaded our home and raped Judith. I couldn’t have imagined this possibility in a thousand years.
I found it difficult to believe, but the evidence was right in front of me. I felt a mix of extreme happiness and pity for Judith. Her wedding wasn’t going to hold again. For the second time, SHE would be heartbroken, and I had mixed feelings about it.
Nathan Everton disrupted our wedding, and now he wants to marry the same woman. No wonder why he loves and cares for the kids so much- they are his. Judith is unaware, and I’m sure she sees him as a good man.
“How do you get the samples? I asked, curious.
“I’m an Everton, I always get whatever I want,” he boasted.
It seems being an Everton was his only achievement because it excite him so much that I couldn’t count the number of times he has said it in the short period we met.
“But, isn’t he your brother? Why are you bent on ruining him?” I asked.
“That bastard is my step-brother. According to what my mom said, she has always loved dad since when they were younger, but dad seems to love his mom dearly. Mom only got to marry my dad after his mom went missing,” he said, with so much hatred.
“Then again, He stole my place in father’s heart and in the hospital. Since he came to London, he has been a pain in the ass. I can’t even spend money like I use to, and he has even refused to fund all of my business deals. I told him I was going to get back at him but he thought I was just bluffing”. He said.
“I’m going to destroy him, and make sure he regrets coming back to London with father,” he added, with a determined look.
“Thank you so much for this. It was worth the deal,” I said as I extended my hand for a hand shake.
“You don’t have to thank me, buddy,” he said, taking the hand. “I should be the one to thank you. I get to destroy him and also get money to fund my business deal,” he said joyfully. “I was starting to get frustrated, but the universe decided to help me. I’m the happiest man on earth today.”
“Cheers to more partnership, man,” I said as I raised my glass.
“Cheers,” he said, and we clinked glasses.
“You know what to do with this information, and no one should know I was the one who told you,” he warned. “My father might end up disowning me, if he ever finds out.”
“Okay, buddy, you can trust me,” I assured him.
We talked about other things, and from the little time I spent with him, I realized he was a spoilt brat and an asshole. He had no respect for anyone, and he was quiet daft. No wonder Nathan was able to take his place. If I was their father, I would have done the same.
I knew the money I would be investing in the business was already wasted because the business is a shabby and illegal, one that could even get one jailed. But I can do anything to get back with Judith. It seems as if she’s the key to my happiness and peace.
After careful thought, I decided to tell Judith. It would be so bad of me to allow her to end up with the man she despised the most. If she finds out after they got married, she might feel worse.
************
The next day, I woke up with my mind made up and more determined than ever. All through the night, I was restless and kept imagining how she would feel and the pains she will have to pass through when she found out.
How do I even get her to listen to me? She has issued a stern warning not to come close to her again. I just have to get her attention somehow and let her know the truth about the man she’s getting married to.
I got dressed, and drove to her house. I got there and found out that she’s not staying there anymore. I kept ringing the bell until an elderly woman came around to tell me that she relocated and put the house up for sale.
I kept wondering where she had relocated to. “Did she go back to Rome? Or did she get a new house?”
Then I decided to call Vanessa. Vanessa was the one who told me about her relocation and her twins, when I went back to Rome to look for her. She had been the one telling about Judith, of which Judith was unaware.
“Hello Vanessa,” I said immediately she picked up the call.
“Hello Felix, what did you want? I literally told you not to call me again,” she said, with an angry tone.
“Chill, chill. I just wanted to ask you where Judith relocated too,”
“And why are you asking? So you can start chasing after her again,”
“No, I don’t intend to. I really have something important to tell her, so I really need to see her”, I said desperately. “So please Van, tell me where,” I pleaded.
“Well, she didn’t tell me”.
“I know she did, you are her one and only friend, especially here in London where she knows no one. She must confided in you”.
“Okay, please don’t tell her, I told you her whereabouts. She told me she will be staying at Nathan’s place since they will be getting married soon.” She concluded.
“Okay, thanks,” I ended the call. Then I called John to get Nathan’s address.
I drove there as fast as I could. I got there and it was a big and beautiful mansion in one of the most luxurious estates in London. I was attended to by the gateman who told me Nathan is at work while Judith was inside, and he helped me get her.
“What are you doing here Felix?” She asked with anger written all over her, immediately she saw me.
“Judith, I have something to talk to you about,” I answered.
“I’m getting married soon, Felix. It’s time for you to move on, we are done,”
“I know we are done, believe me, this isn’t about me. It’s about you,” I said desperately. “If you don’t listen to me now, you might regret it later.”
She sensed my desperation, so she calmed down and listened to me. “Okay, speak. I’m listening.”
I suggested we go the nearest cafe in the estate, so we could talk better, and she agreed. We drove to the nearest cafe. When we got there I ordered for her favorite, which is a fruit juice.
I handed her the paternity test results. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“What is this,” she asked, unbothered, taking the results.
“Check it,” I said.
She opened it, and I watched her unbothered look changed to a confused and annoyed one.
“Whose paternity result is this?” She asked, in a rash and urgent tone.
For a moment, I lost my confidence. My heart was racing, my lips numb and I couldn’t find my voice. “It’s Nathan and your twins’ paternity test, and you can see they are a match,” I finally dropped the bombshell….
