Chapter 318 Locked Out
Chapter 318 Locked Out
Nathaniel, visibly frustrated, took a deep breath and said, "I forgot to grab my room key, and now I'm locked out." Frey paused, peering past him to see that his door was indeed closed.
"I rushed over when I heard you were back, but the door locked behind me," Nathaniel explained.
"Isn't it a combination lock?" Frey asked, incredulous that he could make such a basic mistake.
Nathaniel sighed, "I just moved in and didn't have time to change the lock to a combination or fingerprint one."
To prove his point, he gestured towards his door, showing it had a different lock than hers. Seeing Nathaniel in his casual home attire, Frey asked, "Don't your brothers live nearby?" Nathaniel shrugged, "No, I've told them to stay away. If you don't believe me, call them."
Skeptical, Frey dialed Koen's number. After a long delay, Koen answered, the sound of loud electronic music in the background revealing he was at a bar.
With a sigh, Frey turned back to Nathaniel, who said, "Frey, I know I made a huge mistake, but considering I saved you from the fire, can't you let me stay inside tonight instead of freezing in the corridor?"
Seeing Nathaniel standing there, looking like a forlorn bear, Frey felt a pang of guilt. She knew she owed him for saving her life in the fire.
Noticing the scar on the back of his neck, Frey sighed and stepped aside.
"Thank you," Nathaniel said as he walked in with the box.
After washing his hands, he glanced at the bowl of noodles on the table but didn't touch it, unsure of what to do.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
Frey, irritated, said, "I'll cook another bowl. You can eat the one on the table. I haven't touched it."
Nathaniel's eyes lit up as he sat down and began eating. The noodles tasted unexpectedly better than the gourmet meals he was accustomed to.
After eating, Frey brought out
another bowl of noodles. She noticed that Nathaniel had eaten half of the cold dishes on the plate but had left the other half untouched.
Frey sat down and ate quietly, her thoughts occupied with the past and the present.
Since realizing his grave mistake from three years ago, Nathaniel had been excessively cautious around Frey, careful in every action and word.
He walked into the kitchen with a

bowl, eager to fetch some more soup. The corridor was freezing in the cold spring air, and he had been anxiously waiting for Frey to return, even avoiding the bathroom to not miss her.
After finishing the hot noodles, he felt significantly more energized.
He then went back to the kitchen to fetch another bowl of noodle soup and noticed a foam box next to the refrigerator containing the ingredients he had bought.
"Frey, I put the ingredients back in the refrigerator for you. They could spoil if left out, and they're quite expensive," Nathaniel said, emphasizing the last part.
