The Mafia Boss's Pet Wife

Powerful

Sophia

The silence between us was suffocating. I could still feel his presence, lingering in the garden like a shadow that wouldn't leave. His words echoed in my mind, relentless, making it hard to breathe. You've always belonged to me. Even when you didn't know it.

I hated how true it felt. It wasn't supposed to be like this. I wasn't supposed to be his. I wasn't supposed to feel this pull, this dangerous connection that had ensnared me from the start. But it was there, wrapped around me like a vice, squeezing tighter every time I tried to break free.

I thought I could fight it. I thought I could resist him, resist the way his touch made my heart race, the way his words twisted inside me, convincing me that maybe he was right. But I knew it wasn't love. It couldn't be. Not this. Not with him. I walked back to my room, my feet heavy, the weight of the evening settling into my bones. The walls felt like they were closing in, like the house itself was conspiring to keep me here, to keep me in his grasp. I couldn't escape. And the worst part was, I didn't know if I wanted to anymore.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

I slammed the door behind me, leaning against it as my breath came in ragged gasps. My mind raced, my thoughts tangled in a mess of confusion and anger. I couldn't let him win. I couldn't let him take everything from me. But how could I fight against something so powerful?

Sinking onto the edge of the bed, I buried my face in my hands, feeling the weight of it all crushing me. The fear, the anger, the desire-all of it swirling inside me, demanding my attention.

Why did it have to be like this? Why couldn't I just be free?

I had known from the moment Nathan walked into my life that things would never be simple. I had known that he would be a challenge, that he would push me to my limits. But I never imagined it would feel like this. Like I was standing at the edge of a cliff, with nowhere to go but down.

A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts. I froze, my heart skipping a beat. I knew who it was before he even spoke.

"Sophia," Nathan's voice came through the door, low and dangerous. "We need to talk."

I didn't move, didn't speak. I couldn't. If I did, I was afraid I would let everything slip. I would let him in again, and that was the last thing I wanted.

"I don't want to talk to you," I said finally, my voice a little too steady, even for me. I wanted him to go away. I wanted the room to swallow me whole, to make me disappear.

"Too bad," he replied, his voice even colder than before. "We're talking, whether you like it or not."

I heard the soft click of the door handle turning, and before I could even react, the door opened slowly. Nathan stood in the doorway, his frame blocking out the light from the hallway. His eyes, dark and unreadable, locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

"Get out," I whispered, my voice breaking just slightly. But he didn't move. He never did when I told him to leave.

"I don't think you really want me to," he said, stepping into the room, his gaze never leaving mine. "You can lie to me, Sophia, but you can't lie to yourself."

I stood up quickly, my chest heaving. "I'm not lying. I don't want you here. I don't want anything to do with you."

He took another step forward, his presence overwhelming. "You say that, but your eyes tell a different story. You're afraid of me, but you're also drawn to me. You can't fight it."

I backed away, my hands shaking. He was right, I couldn't deny that. There was a part of me that was drawn to him, a part that burned for him, even though I knew I shouldn't. I hated it. I hated how easily he had gotten under my skin, how he seemed to see right through me.

"I don't need you," I said, trying to sound firm, even though my voice wavered. "I can handle this on my own."

Nathan's lips curled into a small, knowing smile. "No, you can't. You're not strong enough to handle this alone. You never were. And that's why I'm here. To show you what you're capable of."

I shook my head, trying to push the thoughts away. I couldn't let him in. I couldn't let him convince me that he was the answer to all of my problems.

"You don't own me," I spat, my fists clenched at my sides. "I'm not your project, Nathan."

He moved closer, his expression hardening. "You're right. You're not my project." His voice dropped to a whisper. "You're mine."

The words hit me like a punch to the gut, and I felt my knees weaken, as if his words had the power to make me crumble. I couldn't let him do this to me.

"You can't keep me here," I said, my voice a mixture of defiance and desperation. "I'm not yours to control."

His fingers reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair from my face. His touch was gentle, but there was no mistaking the danger lurking beneath it.

"I don't need to keep you here, Sophia," he murmured, his face so close to mine that I could feel his breath against my skin. "You're not going anywhere. Not without me."

A shiver ran through me, and I couldn't help the way my body responded to him. I wanted to resist. I wanted to fight. But everything inside me screamed that I couldn't. Nathan had already won.
