Chapter 228
Tracy watched as Matthew spoke. He kept a poker face the entire time.
Matthew was clearly lying. Yet, he sounded so convincing. Tracy started finding him more and more terrifying. Perhaps she'd never know if he was lying or telling the truth in the future.
She decided to test him again. "I swear I heard a woman's voice. What happened?"
"Really?" Matthew exclaimed. Turning around, he saw Tracy's curious look and felt at ease.
Matthew assumed Tracy hadn't caught him getting intimate with Rachel in the car, so he flashed her a smile and explained, "I got bored, so I played some music. A female rapper was singing, and I was so bad that I had to turn it off. "Anyway, enough about that. Where do you live? I'll give you a ride home."
Noticing how flawless Matthew's narrative was, Tracy somehow felt a little disappointed. She didn't like men who were smooth liars.
"I live in Lakeview Lofts."
Tracy went quiet after that. For some reason, she couldn't stop thinking about Matthew's and Rachel's passionate moment in the car.
She tried not to dwell on it, but these images seemed to have a mind of their own and kept showing up in her head.novelbin
Without realizing it, Tracy found herself gazing at Matthew, admiring his athletic build and defined features. She simply couldn't take her eyes off him.
...
In the Smith residence, William was on the verge of losing his mind. Holding a cane, William swung it at everything he saw, creating a mess in the villa. After a long time, William finally calmed down, leaning on his cane and catching his breath.
Curtis Granger, a member of William's household staff, said meekly, "Please take care of yourself, Mr. Smith. We still need you to seek justice for Sheldon."
With a murderous look on his wrinkled face, William's dull eyes glinted like a hawk's. "How could this happen? Sheldon said Matthew was no match for him! How could Matthew possibly kill him?"
Curtis shook his head. "I have a hunch that Matthew is playing the fool when he's actually a threat. He's just the owner of a small startup, and his parents are farmers.
"From what we've found, he doesn't
have any medical expertise and doesn't know ancient martial arts. But now, he suddenly has these skills. He's been hiding a lot, and he's definitely up to something big."
William's face twisted with rage, and his eyes burned with hatred. Clenching his teeth, he growled, "I don't care who he is. He has to die!
"No matter how strong he is, he can't beat money. Since he killed Sheldon, I'm going to wipe out his entire family and everyone connected to him."
Curtis hesitated to speak. Noticing
his reluctance, William coldly said "We've known each other for ages, and I think of you as family. Just say what's on your mind. There's no need to hold back."
Curtis nodded. "Alright. I'll just say it, but please don't get upset. Years ago, you kicked Mr. Henry out because he had a few flings. Don't you think that was too much? It's been years. Maybe it's time to let him come home."
"Henry Smith?" William muttered the name to himself.
A tinge of longing crossed his expression. "Do you really think I threw Henry out back then over a few women? You've got it all wrong.
"The Smith family took over two companies back in those days. People were dying to take us down. I sent him away to keep him safe."
Curtis was utterly shocked, not realizing there was another side to this story. Even as an insider of the Smith family, he had been kept out of the loop.
"Is it time to bring him back now?"
William shook his head. "Henry is married into the family, with two sons and one daughter. He's sitting on a wealth threefold of the Smith family. Let's not bother him for now. "After dealing with Matthew, I'll ask him to send one of his sons to run the Smith family's business."
Curtis listened in awe, thinking William would go crazy after learning about Sheldon's death. He was surprised that William was still so level-headed.
"Got it. Let's plan our move against the Grant family."
