Chapter 28: 28

Chapter 28: 28

I hear people talking but I see nothing. I could not move anything, not my fingers nor could I open my

eyes. I hear people speaking from my left and right side. I could hear Elliot, he’s asking what happened

to me, what’s the treatment, do I have any infections and from Elliot’s tone and the number of

consecutive questions he was asking, he was not getting the proper answers. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“I have to deal with a break-in and now my wife is here. Tell me, what is wrong with her?” those were

the lost words that I heard before I fell asleep.

“Eli?” someone calls, a man’s voice, “Eli?” there he goes again. It’s Elliot. I open my eyes and I see a

mahogany finished ceiling. I look down and I see Elliot sitting beside me, my hand in his. I look over to

my left and I see a doctor and two nurses. Right next to them, there was an IV stand and a bag with a

small plastic tube that leads to a needle that was injected in me.

“Elliot?” I call his name faintly. Elliot comes closer to me.

“Hi” he says, “How do you feel?”

“What happened?” I asked, “Where are we?”

“We’re in our new suit. There are guards outside. The police are waiting for me at the security room of

the hotel and the management will help me file for a police report” Elliot starts to say, “The doctors said

you fainted due to stress and low blood sugar. We are still waiting for the other equipment to arrive so

that they can conduct other tests, like CT scans because you fell and hit your head on the floor. And

because of your age pregnancy tests and STD testing will be conducted as well” he tells me.

“Can I get a cup of hot chocolate?” I ask

Elliot smiles at me, “Sure. I’ll call room service” he says.

The doctor leans over me and says, “I’m Dr. Stevens, Mrs. Smith. I will be attention to your needs and

conduct all tests. How do you feel?”

I breathe in, “uhhh nothing, actually” I tell her.

“Okay, nothing is panful? Do you still feel dizzy?” she asks me.

“No” I say

“Okay. I’ll get back to you as soon as we are able to get the equipment for the hospital in Bangkok to

here for the assessments. For now, you should eat and drink fluids.”

I nod. Elliot and Dr. Stevens go to the farther end of the room and start talking. They seem worried

because from time to time either of them look over at me. Elliot took one last look before they left my

room. I was with the nurses and Elliot went down to check on the progress of the incident. A couple of

hours later, Elliot came back with papers in his hands but placed it on the table at the other end of the

room. Our room is much more intimate, unlike our villa where we had our separate rooms. We have a

big bed, a king-sized bed in fact. Elliot walks over to me a says, “Hey, how are you?” he smiles.

I smile back, “I’m good. How’s everything?”

Elliot’s face falls for a moment but then smiles at me faintly, “What do you want for dinner?” he

asks.
