Chapter 10: 10

Chapter 10: 10

Oh my God.

“Jesus, Hannah” I say under my breath. “Oh my God!”. It suddenly dawned on me my situation in

school.

“Think about what the other students will say if they found out that you’re married to a teacher?”

I was silent.

“Hello?” she was trying to get my attention. “Are you still there?”

“I-I need to call you back” I tell her and drop the call. I swallowed really hard and leaned back. I was

trying to catch my breath. My vision was a little blurry. I reach for my phone and start calling Elliot. One

or two rings, he switched is off. He’s probably still with his client. I send him a couple of messages,

telling him to call me as soon as possible.

Hannah’s right. What about my identity as a student? What will people say? Will they assume that I’m

passing my subjects just because my husband is professor?

Suddenly, my phone rings.

It was Elliot calling.

“Are you okay?” he asked

I swallowed “Does the school know?”

“What?”

“Does that school know that you and I are married? Am I going to get expelled?” I asked him hurriedly.

“What are you talking about, Eli?”

“Elliot!” I say, “listen to me. I am asking you if the school knows. DO they know about you and me? Do

they know that we’re married?”

He sighs, “Yes, the school board knows about us. Old fashioned nepotism isn’t so bad. You’re not

going to get expelled. You will go and show up at your first class. There’s not going to be a problem, Eli.

I got you” he tells me calmly.

“Elliot, I swear to God if I don’t graduate because of this. I will punch you” I tell him.

He laughs, “Okay, deal. Listen, I have to go. Finish your breakfast, okay? Can you do me favor? Can

you call concierge and ask them which restaurant it best for honeymooners. I’ll let you decide, just

reserve us a seat, okay?”

I breathe in, “Okay” I say as I breathe out.

“Thank you, Mrs. Roommate” he says and ends the call. Tilt my head back and crack my neck. Maybe I

should get that massage now. I walk upstairs and call the front desk.

“Sheraton Samui Resort, this is Kelly speaking how may I help you?” she greets joyfully.

“Hi! This is Mrs. Smith. I’d like to reserve a table for dinner tonight”

“Surely, Mrs. Smith. At around what time would you and Mr. Smith be around for dinner? I hear her

typing.

“Actually, I have no idea which restaurant we’d be having dinner. Maybe you could suggest

something?”

“Oh yes. We have the Blue Monkey, ocean view and romantic ambiance. Perfect for honeymooners,

madam"

I smile “Okay, I’ll reserve a table for two at around seven in the evening” I tell her

.

She starts typing again, “Got it, madam. We’ll see you tonight. Thank you”

“Thank you” I drop the call and go downstairs to eat. I sit and I finish my breakfast and place the trolley

outside the suite.

As I was about to close the door, a woman in the hotel’s uniform comes up to me and says,

“Good afternoon, Mrs. Smith. Here is the service menu for the spa. I have also included a recreational

menu. In case you and your husband decide on it. It has the prices as well” she smiles and hands me

the menu cards. I smile at her and thank her before I close the door.

I had a really good idea. I run upstairs again and call the front desk. Kelly picks up again and says

“Yes, Mrs. Smith?”

“Hi Kelly. I was wondering are the aquatic recreational activities available tomorrow morning?”

“Give me a moment to check, madam” she says and there was short silence, “Yes we have an open

slot for the jet ski tomorrow at ten in the morning. We also have an open slot for parasailing at eleven.

We have a slot open for a private tour of island hopping tomorrow at twelve.”

“Great! Book all three and please keep your line open just in case I decide to add some more” I say,

“Thank you, Kelly”

“You’re most welcome, Mrs. Smith”

Let’s see how Elliot would like it.
