He then turned to Rita and said, "Just because you're my daughter doesn't mean you can act however you want. You haven't even apologized for what happened earlier. Who taught you to throw your cutlery like that? You used to be so well-behaved at home, but your attitude changed completely as soon as you married the Parrs. How do you expect to set a good example for your sister?"

"Are you getting senile? When did I have a sister? You're not seriously going to tell me that you're raising someone else's daughter as your own, right? Am I supposed to take care of her in the future too? You can't expect me to take care of her and the baby that's on the way."

Rita crossed her arms and wondered when she mentioned all that to Sadie. As far as she knew, she never brought up Sherman's name to Sadie. It was Sadie who lusted after Sherman to the point where Sadie would not hesitate to pull off all sorts of tricks.

Everything could have been settled easily if it was just a simple quarrel between Rita and Sadie, but Sadie's words made Vince feel like he had just been slapped in the face. He wondered what Sadie meant by saying that she would be getting Rita in trouble.

After all, it was because of Vince that Rita was able to marry Sherman in the first place. Had he not swallowed his pride and pleaded with the Parrs to preserve Rita's innocence, they would never have noticed Rita's existence in the first place.
