The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 547

Chapter 547

On that same day, Petra visited Empower Operations in search of Peter, who didn’t recognize Petra.

“Who might you be?” When Petra had stood atop the skyscraper that day, Peter had not seen her face.

“I’m Petra, a colleague of Cordelia. I came specifically to apologize to you today. I didn’t think it all

through yesterday. I just knew Cordelia worked in this building, so I came up. I didn’t mean to cause

you any worry.”

Thinking back on yesterday’s events, Peter was still a bit shaken. If her actions had impacted the

property values, he felt like he might as well have jumped off the roof himself. He was polite to Petra,

probably figuring her to be a loose cannon. Even though she had backed off yesterday, who knew what

tomorrow might bring?

“What was with you yesterday?” he asked Petra.

“Oh, nothing much, just a spat with someone. My past was dug up, and I wanted revenge. I was too

impulsive. Later, we cleared the air, and the anger subsided. She advised me to avoid a next time, and

I said I’d try my best.” Petra said with a sorrowful tone.

Despite Petra’s gentle voice, Peter could sense an underlying message. She would try to avoid a next

time, but a next time might still come. This left Peter feeling helpless.

After Petra left, Peter pondered whether he should continue to have Cordelia work at Empower

Operations. Cordelia had always done a good job, but he was scared. What if there was a second

incident? Edith Hill was meant to become the biggest community. If any suicide-related incident

occurred, it could spell disaster, just like the time Mr. Evans’ father was driven mad after a similar case.

However, Cordelia was Ronan’s associate, and her staying or leaving would have to be discussed with

him.This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Ronan had returned to Millstone today, and this matter wasn’t something to discuss over the phone. It

needed a more subtle approach.

After Victoria returned to Millstone, Cordelia had a few uneventful days. On Saturday, Cordelia followed

Victoria’s "instruction," and went back to Millstone without informing Ronan in advance.

When Janice opened the door for Cordelia, she was slightly surprised and a bit distant.

"Hello, ma'am?" Janice asked.

"Yeah."

Ronan, descending the staircase, was surprised to see Cordelia as well. "Well, isn't this a surprise?

You've come home on your own?" he said with an almost imperceptible smile. "To see your son?"

"I just missed you and the kid. The more I thought about you, the stronger the urge to return. Where's

Callum?" Cordelia casually dropped her luggage on the couch.

"Callum is upstairs in his room playing. Callum, your mom's back!" Ronan called out. He then sat down

on the couch and picked up a book to read.

Cordelia took a seat beside him. She heard the thumping of little feet, and soon, a little bundle of joy

tumbled into her arms.

"Mummy, you're back? Daddy said you wouldn't be coming home for a while," Callum said, beaming up

at Cordelia, making her heart melt.

"I’m here, aren’t I? And look, I brought you some LEGOs. Go play," Cordelia stroked his hair and

handed him the toy.

Callum joyfully took the LEGOs and scampered off to his room.

Cordelia had woken up early that morning, and it wasn't even noon yet; she hadn't had lunch.

Her phone buzzed.

[Sis, are you back in Millstone yet?]

[Just got here.]

[Great, I'll be over soon.]

It seemed Victoria was serious. Sure enough, it wasn't long before Victoria arrived with arms full of

groceries and goodies.

When Ronan saw Victoria, he understood everything.
