The Cherished Wife

Chapter 748

"Mr. Julian, Sir Shaw is upstairs. He said he'd come down for dinner once you returned," Fay replied, glancing at Jade.

Jade nodded and said, "Since Mr. Julian is back, please go upstairs and invite Sir Shaw to come down."

She added, "Sir Shaw is getting older and may have neglected all of you."

Noelle smiled faintly. "Not at all, Mom."

"Fay, please attend to matters in the kitchen. Mr. Jones and I will go upstairs to invite Grandpa."

As Noelle finished speaking, Sean stood up as well. "Noelle is right. We'll go up and ask Sir Shaw to come down," Sean said before following Noelle upstairs.

Everyone in the room was left with different expressions as each was lost in their own thoughts.

Julian and Jade exchanged looks, realizing that with just a few words, Sean had not only challenged their previous assumptions but also involved the Jones family.

The Jones family!

A flash of ruthlessness crossed Jade's eyes, but it quickly disappeared.

Winter and Xavier each had their own concerns too.

Xavier was bothered by how seamlessly Noelle and Sean interacted with each other. It was evident that Noelle treated Sean differently than she treated him.

This brought back memories of their past and made him think...

"Xavier?" Winter interrupted his thoughts, looking at him suspiciously. "What are you thinking about? Dad called you several times."

Xavier snapped out of it. "Oh, did you call for me?"Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

Julian frowned with displeasure. "You and Winter went through so much to get married. Now that you're finally together, what's going on?" To be honest, Julian had never been fully satisfied with Xavier as his son-in-law.

Initially, Xavier liked Noelle but later ended up with Winter. Even though both were his daughters, Julian had always favored Winter. Hence, when Winter was determined to marry Xavier, Julian had some reservations but did not stop it from happening.

He had hoped that Xavier would treat Winter well after their marriage, but things did not seem to be going as he had expected.

Xavier's expression darkened. The

friction between him and Winter still

had not resolved. He had made effort to come to the Shaw

residence today as a gesture of respect but had not expected Julian to reprimand him.

Annoyed, Xavier replied, "You should be asking her. Only Winter knows what's been going on recently."

"What do you mean by that?" Julian's temper flared. "Winter is being slandered and gossiped about by those people outside. As her husband, you should be comforting her instead of "

"Dad!" Winter quickly interrupted

Julian. "Xavier and I are fine. There's nothing wrong. The last incident was a misunderstanding, and I've already explained it to Xavier, haven'DI, Xavier?"

She shot Xavier a warning look. "Besides, today is New Year's. Let's not talk about things that will make us unhappy."

Julian wanted to say more, but seeing Winter's loyalty to Xavier, he swallowed his words in frustration.

Sensing the tension, Jade quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Sir Shaw will be coming down soon. It's the New Year's, and the whole family is finally together. Let's be harmonious. It's the key to another good year."

Right as Jade finished speaking, Samuel began descending the stairs while being supported by Noelle.

Samuel, leaning on his cane, slowly made his way down. Though his movements were stiff, his eyes remained sharp. He seemed capable of seeing right through people.
