Chapter 1025
Chapter 1025
Jelena was such a gem. How on earth did she mess around with Fredric?
Who was the cursed soul that spiked Fredric's drink at that party, leaving Jelena to deal with the
aftermath?
Back at the office, she went to Leopold's corner office.
"Sheryl dropped by and unloaded a bombshell. Some scumbag captured a video of Fredric and Jelena
cozying up, and now it's probably buzzing through the entire high society."
Leopold's fingers tapped on the desktop, deep in thought. "Fredric was drugged at the party?"
Aurelia nodded. "Yep, that's what he claims. God knows if it's true. How about you send someone to
dig into it? If it were true, we would drag the scumbag who did it into the light and make him pay."
A sinister glint flashed in Leopold's eyes as he immediately called Kevin to investigate the party
incident.
"I'm heading over to talk to Jelena after work," Aurelia said. "She used to be so free-spirited and open-
minded. Now she's changed. Has she been, um, what's the term? Gaslighted by Fredric?"
Leopold choked on her words, a strange look crossing his face. "Gaslighted? Don't let your imagination
run wild."
Aurelia could tell he was protective of his kin, a true family man.
"Just remember, Jelena is your family, too. Make sure you're fair, and don't play favorites."
Leopold approached her, stretching out his hand to ruffle her hair.
"If she weren't your cousin, this would be much simpler."
Aurelia pouted. That was true. Leopold would veto the whole mess if it weren't for the family ties. It
would be simple, direct, and brutal with no second thoughts.
"So, are you planning to use your veto power or not?"
Leopold's fingers teased her chin, a devilish smile playing on his lips, looking devilishly handsome
without a care for the rest of the world.
"How about I play the good listener this time and follow your lead?"
"No way," Aurelia's head shook like a tambourine. She wasn't foolish!
"That's like tossing a hot potato to me. If my aunt and Jelena get upset and come after you, you'll shift
the blame to me, saying it was my idea. Then I'll be the villain in the Hawthorne family."
Leopold couldn't help but laugh. "Your mind's a maze without a single empty chamber."
Aurelia stuck her tongue out at him. "Facing a sly fox like you, with eons of cunning, my thousand tricks
are useless."
He would still outplay her.
Leopold wrapped his arms around her slim waist, pulling her close. "If you can't outsmart me, play nice.
From now on, you're all mine, no wandering hearts."
Aurelia rolled her eyes. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
What nonsense was he talking about?
If anyone had a wandering heart, it was him.
"Those words are for you, not me. If you stay true, so will I. I won't make a scene if you don't pull a
stunt."
"Deal," he said.
Leaning in, he planted a kiss on her lips, like a seal on a promise.
Later that evening, Aurelia visited Jelena's home after work.
"Hey, I brought crabs and salmon. I'll whip up your favorite crab cakes and grilled salmon."
Jelena hadn't stepped out in days, holed up at home. But with the internet, no one needs to go outside
to catch up on gossip.
"So, I take it my fling with Fredric is the talk of the town now?"
Aurelia gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. "Who knows which bastard leaked it, but don't worry,
Leopold's on it. Once we find the jerk, we'll be sure to run him out of Elysium."
She went to the kitchen to start cooking.
Jelena leaned on the doorway, watching her. "Fredric told me he's already asked Sheryl for a divorce,
but she doesn't want to cause a scene at Jessica's expense. He also said..."
She paused, her voice growing heavier. "Fredric also said that you and Leopold disapprove of the
divorce."
