Chapter 64
Everett fetched the ointment. He made a special trip to the bathroom to wash his hands before returning to apply it for her.
Dorothy finched back a bit. Even though they had been quite close before, his sudden proximity made her uncomfortable.
“I can do it myself! it’s not like it’s in a place I can’t reach.”
With that, she reached for the ointment.
Everett didn’t hand it over. His eyes gradually hinted at annoyance. “Lean your face over here.”
“Really, I don’t need.
He didn’t say anything more. He just stared at her
Helpless. Dorothy obediently leaned in like a child.
Because they were so close, she could even see the tiny fuzz on Everett’s face. His skin was so exquisite that she wouldn’t have noticed it if they weren’t that close.
Everett carefully spread the ointment evenly on her face. It was cool and comforting
Dorothy unintentionally looked up at him
His focused and serious gaze was as if he was dealing with something he cherished very much. He was careful not to apply too lightly. lest it would have been ineffective. But he didn’t apply too heavily either, fearing that it might have caused her painContent provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Everett was really good-looking. It wasn’t the kind of beauty that appealed to women, but a natural, masculine charm
His features were deep and three–dimensional, his jawline firm and striking. His eyes were like ink, inviting and captivating, even his eyelashes looked as if they had been grafted on!
“If it’s still swollen tomorrow III take you to the hospital after work.”
The sound of his voice brought Dorothy back to reality and she lowered her head. “Im not that delicate.”
It was safe to say that at that point, he was the only one who truly cared about her, which was why she occasionally felt feelings she shouldn’t have.
“When you’re with me, I allow you to be delicate.”
His words were soft, but his tone was resolute and undeniable.
Dorothy looked up at him, and their eyes met.
Neither of them looked away until he spoke, “You need something from me, right?”
Dorothy didn’t say anything.
“Tell me. No matter what it is, I help you solve it.”
Images flashed through Dorothy’s mind. She wondered how her mother would have reacted when she saw Everett. Would she beate him, insult him, or even resort to violence?
His words were too gentle, his tone too sincere, that she felt s
He said, no matter what, he would have solved it with her.
“Everell, L…”
Just as Dorothy was about to speak, his phone rang.
she was drowning
Everett frowned, and both of them turned their gaze towards the sound.
It was a call from Heather.
“Hold on, Ill take this call,”
He picked up the phone and walked to the bedroom door before answering.
“Are you alone? You can’t get a hold of the driver? Okay, stay home. Fil be right there.”
After hanging up, Everett returned to Dorothy and asked, “What were you about to say? Continue”
But Dorothy had snapped out of it.
She pulled a smile on her face, reverting back to her usual nonchalant self.
“Ah, it’s nothing! I just wanted to say thanks.”
Clearly, Everett didn’t believe her.

Dorothy urged him, “Did something happen to Ms. Heather? You should go check on her!”
Distracted by the change in topic, he hesitated for a moment before nodding picking up his suit jacket and standing. “You should sleep first. Don’t stay up. I don’t know when I’ll be back. I’ll see you
tomorrow.”
“Okay”
Dorothy watched as Everett hurriedly left, then she let out a bitter laugh.
What was she thinking?
She was just a stand–in, and yet she was thinking about bringing Everett to meet her mother!
