The CEO’s Hidden Love Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires

Chapter 18

That night, Dorothy slept for just three hours.

When she woke up the next day, Everett was already gone.

On the dining table, he had left her breakfast. It was still hot, and there was a note next to it.

“Gone on a business trip. I’ll be back next week.” It was signed with a single word: Everett.

Dorothy looked at the note and then at the breakfast on the table. She really couldn’t connect the Everett she knew in private with the cold, iceberg-like man in the office.

At home, he could be considered gentle. Even when he demanded sex last night, he was gentle, as if he were afraid to hurt her.

If it weren’t for the tattoo, she would almost feel like Everett was interested in her.

Suddenly, Dorothy felt that the woman he had cherished in his heart for many years was really enviable.

When she got to the office, Dorothy started writing a loan application after the morning meeting.

Around noon, Mr. Percy suddenly barged into her office, looking unhappy. “You’re planning to apply for a loan from the head office? Our team just made a major mistake; you think they’ll approve?” Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

“They’ll approve.” Dorothy was sure. “Don’t worry.”

This idea was inspired by Everett, and, after their intimate time last night, he should give her this favor, right?

Everett clearly understood how important this project was to her.

“I can see you’ve improved, but getting this far is not easy. This does not seem very feasible. The SinoSuccess Enterprises project itself is risky.” Mr. Percy frowned. “Think of something else.”

“But this is the fastest way to start the SinoSuccess Enterprises project. Mr. Percy, just trust me this once.”

She was more anxious than Mr. Percy.

If the SinoSuccess Enterprises project succeeded, she could pay back Everett’s money this year.

Mr. Percy pondered for a moment. Although he didn’t know what exactly had happened, he, an old fox, still sensed something unusual.

“Fine, I’ll trust you this once. Do a good job. The next project is bigger than SinoSuccess Enterprises.”

Dorothy nodded with a smile as she watched Mr. Percy leave.

Back at her seat, she thought for a moment, then took out her phone and sent a message to Everett’s number.

“I’ve submitted the application.”

While looking at the phone screen, Dorothy hesitated for a moment, then added another message. “Are you on the plane? Have a safe

trip.”

It took him a while to reply with just one word. “Busy.”

Dorothy quickly deleted the messages and put away her phone, thinking about how the performance of Team 3 will revive once the SinoSuccess Enterprises project started.

By then, Mr. Percy will most likely hand the next project over to her.

Not only that, her year-end bonus should be around a few tens of thousands. This plus the project commission and her basic salary might be enough to cover her mother’s medical bills without Everett’s help.

She suddenly felt hopeful about life. Even if she had to work overtime until late in the night and then go to the hospital to keep her mother company during the days when Everett was on a business trip, she’d still cheerfully smile every day.

Every day when she got to the office, the first thing she did was turn on the computer to check if the head office had approved the application.

Finally, on the fourth day after the email was sent, the head office responded.

Dorothy quickly opened it, only to see “Application not approved” on her computer screen.

She was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly took out her phone to dial Everett’s number.

After a few rings, he picked up.

“What’s up?”

“Why wasn’t the loan application for the SinoSuccess Enterprises project approved?”

Everett was silent for a few seconds, and then he replied coldly, “Because the board of directors assessed that the SinoSuccess Enterprises project was too risky.”

“But…”

“Dorothy.” Everett interrupted coldly. “It’s working hours now. Anything else?”
