Chapter 1627
Miles threw off the duvet and slid into his slippers, ready to head out without a second glance back at her.
His movements were swift, but just as he stood up, his tall frame wobbled.
"Hey, watch out!"
Felicity's concern overpowered her, and she reached out instinctively to steady him, blurting out, "Didn't you just have surgery for a peptic ulcer? Why on earth are you drinking?" "I'm fine."
He didn't directly address her question. Once he regained his balance, he dropped his arms, putting some distance between them, "Thanks for the concern, I'm outta here."
...
Watching Miles leave her bedroom and walk out of the K&J Mansion without even bothering to change his slippers, Felicity was still trying to process what had just happened.
The sound of someone else in the house startled her, and Karen emerged from the master bedroom.
Spotting her daughter in the living room, she rubbed her eyes in disbelief, "Felicity?!"
"Mom."
"What are you... doing back?" Karen smacked her forehead, remembering, "Oh! Is Langston still in your room?! He had a few drinks with your dad earlier, and I saw he dozed off, so I had your dad help him to your room to lie down for a bit." She hadn't expected her daughter to come home in the middle of the night!
Felicity massaged her temples, equally surprised by the night's unexpected turn of events.
"It's okay, Langston's already left."

The incident that night ensured Felicity's return to Eldorria City was anything but dull.
Aside from a message from Abigail suggesting a shopping spree, Felicity spent most of her time at the K&J Mansion, just hanging out with her parents. "Felicity, you seem to have grown up so much all of a sudden."
Jeffrey's comment wasn't one of mere pride.
It was laced with concern.
"Really? I don't think I've changed much." She was lounging on the living room couch, legs propped up, scrolling through her phone just like before.
Jeffrey emerged from the master
bedroom with a card in hand and handed it over to his daughter, "Here's five million. Your sister called asking for some travel money. can't play favorites, so whatever I give her, I give you."
Felicity was taken aback, her smile tinged with disbelief, "Dad, I'm not exactly hurting for cash! And how can you compare me with Chloe? I have a job, and she's still a student!"
"Take it."
Seeing her dad insist, she got up and accepted the card.
Jeffrey sat down beside her, changing the topic, "Your mom and I are heading to Bay Residence. Abigail's getting married there and wants to spruce up her room. You coming?" novelbin
Felicity was bored and would have immediately agreed, but then she remembered something and hesitated.
Jeffrey quickly added, "Langston's been swamped at work, staying late every night. Decorating isn't really his scene, so he probably won't be there." "Alright! I'll come along. Let me just change."
She sprang from the couch and dashed to her room to change into jeans and a tee - practical for the occasion.
Following her parents to the Bay Residence, they were greeted by the sight of the red carpet already laid out, with the wedding still days away.
Aurora greeted her with a warm smile, "Felicity, love that short hair! Makes you look eighteen!"
"Really? Then I might just keep it short from now on."
As Felicity lifted her gaze, she caught sight of Craig standing behind Abigail.
