Chapter 1625
"Oswald! My name's Oswald."
The look in Felicity's eyes was enough for him to realize she had forgotten.
But it was no big deal, they were just acquaintances after a chance meeting.
Felicity let out an awkward laugh, "Sorry, my memory has always been a bit like a sieve." "No worries. Are you here on vacation?"
"No, I was coming back from the Arctic and had a layover here for a day."
"Oh!" Oswald, sensing she might head out, cautioned, "It's getting dark outside."
After all, this was a foreign country, and she was a young woman.
Not safe.
"Yeah, I know." Felicity felt her eyesight wasn't that bad.
Oswald paused, then said softly, "Wait for me, I'll walk you down the street."
"Ah? That's really not necessary. I'm fine on my own."novelbin
"Just yesterday, an Asian tourist got mugged on this street! We've got each other on WhatsApp, that makes us friends, right? I wouldn't want to see you in the news tomorrow."
Oswald wasn't lying.
Although he did find Felicity quite appealing, he wasn't about to lie to a young lady.
...
Felicity had thought, given Oswald's eagerness, he'd be a chatterbox.
But once they hit the streets, he truly played the part of a bodyguard, keeping quiet behind her.
She wasn't in the mood to make conversation, either.
Her eyes scanned the people and shops around her, but her thoughts were elsewhere-pondering whether to return home for Abigail's wedding.
Not going would, as her mother said, truly hurt people's feelings.
But going...
That meant seeing Langston was inevitable.
No avoiding it.
"Oswald."
"Hmm?" Caught off guard by her sudden call, Oswald quickly stepped closer. "What's up?"
"Where are you from? I bump into you in Eldorria City, then in Anglonia, and now Brusylon?" Oswald chuckled, his demeanor somewhat goofy.
"Must be fate! I'm based in Anglonia, but work takes me to Eldorria City and Brusylon."
"Oh... Your family's in Anglonia?"
"Yeah, Londoria."
Felicity nodded slightly, then fell silent.
Oswald pressed on, "You missing home?"
"Ah? How did you guess?"
"It's pretty normal for girls to miss home! Nothing beats having your parents look after you, way more comfortable than being on your own."
That comment wasn't particularly funny, but Felicity found herself wanting to laugh.
She thought... Oswald was kind of simple in an endearing way.
In a good sense, simple.
Or rather, should say, straightforward.
Walking with him, Felicity quickly felt tired.
Her strength hadn't fully returned after her illness.
Yet, perhaps it was Oswald's words, or maybe the loneliness of being in a foreign land that got to her, but she came to a realization about some things.
Back at the hotel, Felicity waved at Oswald, "Thanks for today."
"No big deal! I'd just be lying around in my room otherwise."
She smiled, watching Oswald head to the elevator, then settled into a couch in the hotel lobby, dialing her mom.
"Mom, Abigail's getting married. I'm coming home."
"Really? That's wonderful! Your dad and I will get to see you again!"
"Miss me that much?" Felicity smirked, "I haven't been gone that long."
Karen chuckled, "Hehe, I'm actually okay, it's more your dad."
"I knew it!"
"We'll be waiting for you then!" she added, "Don't worry, Abigail, Dorothy, even Everett had a chat with your et dad separately. We haven't told his family anything! You coming back for the wedding will just be a formal appearance, that's unavoidable."
"Mhm..."
