Chapter 712 Are You Not Ashamed

Avery turned around, staring blankly at Cayden's handsome face. She strangely felt like crying when she saw the worry that filled his eyes.

Despite considering countless possibilities, she never imagined that he had lived so miserably for the past two years.

Even the thought of him possibly enduring the punishments depicted in the video caused her unbearable pain.

A pair of hands reached out and gently wiped away her tears. “Silly girl, I'm fine.”

Suddenly, Avery seemed to lose her mind and attempted to undress Cayden. “No! I want to see if your body is covered in scars. I want to know what you've been through these past two years...”

Last night, during their intimate moment, Avery was so lost in his tender affection that she didn't pay much attention to his physical condition. Now, she regretted not observing more carefully. She had no idea how much hardship he had actually endured!

Cayden tightly wrapped his arms around Avery's waist, holding her restless hands. He gently kissed her forehead and comforted her with a smile. “Ery, I'm fine. If something had happened, I wouldn't be standing here in front of you. Trust me. It will be over soon.”

His words carried an inexplicable power that comforted Avery, providing a sense of peace and tranquility. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

She knew she had lost control.

Avery lay on his chest, wanting to laugh, but her eyes turned red. She carefully said, “You're lying. In such a horrifying place, you must have suffered a lot. Cayden, can I take a look, please?”

Cayden affectionately pinched her face, smiling as he said, “When we have time, I'll tell you about what happened these past two years. For now, can you stop crying? You're a mother of three, yet you still love to cry. Isn't that embarrassing? If Cal sees you, he will definitely tease you.”

Over the past two years, his body had accumulated many scars. He didn't want her to see his battered and scarred figure. It wasn't that he was worried she would find his scars repulsive, but rather, he feared that she would shed tears once again upon seeing his scars.

Avery felt a bit embarrassed and sniffed. “I-I was just overly worried about you, that's all.”

Gently, Cayden gently wiped away the filth from the corner of her lips.

He poured her a cup of warm water and fed her the water. He then observed her as she rinsed her mouth. “You're a mother now, so try not to cry so easily, alright? Be strong. Set a remarkable example for our child.”

After rinsing her mouth, Avery took several deep breaths in succession, barely managing to suppress the intense feeling of nausea welling up from the depths of her heart.

“Cayden, it's too dirty in here. Why don't you step out for a bit?”

She had just vomited a lot to the point where even she found it unbearable.

Cayden, however, didn't care at all. He directly picked her up. “You are my wife, and we promised to be together in life and death. You have never despised me, so how could I despise you? Silly girl.”

His eyes, warm and gentle, fixed upon Avery's face. The curve of his smile held a sense of indulgence.

He might appear aloof and indifferent on the outside but was incredibly affectionate toward her.

Avery thought that maybe she would never manage to break free from his web of love in this lifetime.

Cayden brought Avery to the bedroom and picked up Cal, who was playing games on the carpet, to keep her company.

He then discussed eliminating Dark River with Taron and Xander.

Taron and Xander were very interested in eliminating the Dark River.

As long as they were able to eradicate Dark River, Taron could nearly establish dominance over Eastern Epea, and Xander's influence could gradually extend from Aploth. They had always been passionate about such advantageous and innocuous pursuits.

After all, they were the masters of outsmarting their enemies.

Now, with the help of Cayden, who possessed a deep understanding of the inner workings and operational system of Dark River, they swiftly devised a comprehensive strategy to obliterate the organization.

For the past few days, Cayden had been exceptionally busy, engrossed in formulating plans alongside Taron and the others, actively executing their ambitious revenge plot.

Avery found herself idling away in Vivian's luxurious mansion, bored out of her wits.

After the terrifying encounter of nearly being abducted previously, the house was now heavily fortified. For the safety of both her and Cal, she had been instructed to refrain from going out these days and was left with no choice but to obediently remain in her room.

Luckily, there was Internet here, so she could pass the time with my phone and computer.

Cal brought an abundance of joy to Avery, eliciting laughter from her nearly every day. Without him, she would undoubtedly have been quite bored.

However, Avery simply didn't expect to run into Nina in Mocset. What surprised her even more was that she was brought here by Xander.

When Nina arrived, she was wearing light makeup. Her ordinary-looking face, however, appeared somewhat rosy.

Upon seeing Avery, she immediately embraced the latter, her eyes red and swollen from crying. “I told you not to come to Mocset alone, you silly girl, but you just wouldn't listen. Xander told me that you and Cal were kidnapped by the people from Dark River and nearly lost your lives. How could you be so reckless? You really scared me to death. Thank goodness you're okay. Otherwise, I would have been devastated...”

Avery took in her best friend's hug and held her hand. Her voice was hoarse as she said, “It's okay. I'm fine, aren't I? Nina, I don't regret coming here to find Cayden. Fate gave me a huge surprise as I really found him.”

Nina's excitement was almost palpable. “Mr. Moore is still alive? That's fantastic news! I've always believed Mr. Moore is a fortunate man and wouldn't leave us so quickly. Truly, luck is by his side. Even though Mr. Moore is usually stern with us, he is genuinely a handsome and generous boss. By the way, where is Mr. Moore? Isn't he here?”

Even though Xander had previously informed Nina about the news of Cayden still being alive, she remained skeptical. It wasn't until she heard Avery's words herself that she finally believed Cayden had truly returned.

Nina glanced around the spacious living room, but she couldn't find any trace of Cayden.

The smile on Avery's face gradually faded. “As long as Dark River continues to exist, there's a perpetual threat to Cayden. He, along with Taron and Xander, has ventured out to strategize. I must admit, I'm truly apprehensive that he might encounter danger once more, but there's no alternative. To achieve absolute freedom, they must eliminate the menace that is Dark River.”

“Don't fret, they are all exceptional individuals. I'm confident Mr. Moore will manage everything adeptly. With Mr. Moore's return, I imagine there's nothing more heartwarming than the reunion of your family of four, isn't that right, Ery?” Nina pursed her lips, her soothing words provided comfort to Avery.

Suddenly, she began to understand why Xander kept leaving home early in the morning and coming home late.

Avery nodded. She suddenly recalled Nina's situation. Unable to contain her curiosity, she asked, “Nina, how did you find yourself coming to Mocset with Xander? Weren't you with Yuvan before?”

Her words caused Nina's gaze to turn dim.
