Roman’s POV
“Would your friend like to have some tea, sir?” A middle-aged man who I had never met in any of my numerous visits to New York state college asked me with a smile.
I glanced backward at Nathan, who was standing motionlessly behind me with an expressionless face, and beckoned him to answer the question.
He shook his head in negation at the man, and the man nodded as he went back to his seat.
I darted an investigative look at the man’s bandaged head as I inwardly wondered why he wasn’t resting in the hospital and was instead walking about and working.
Earlier, he had introduced himself to me and explained that he was manning the chancellor’s office, pending the time she got back from an official trip.
Currently, I was in Sofie’s school on a mission; to find who the fearless perpetrator was.
The fucking bastard who had left a hickey for me to see on my fiancée.
I had no idea why I was so sure the person was from the school but my guts were never wrong, so I knew I could be on to something.
I was determined to get to the bottom of this today and I wasn’t going to leave until I did. Even if it meant scrutinizing every male species of humans that were currently enclosed within the four walls of the school’s property.
Sofie along with a greying, middle-aged woman came sauntering into the office then and I darted a smile at her which she didn’t return as she seemed terrified to see me.
The woman that came with her, muttered something incoherent which I reckoned was an ‘excuse me’ before exiting the room.
Sofie’s eyes darted to the man, and I could see the way her eyes dilated in horror as she looked at him which made me frown in befuddlement.
She shuddered fearfully, and it brought back the memories of the previous day when she had flinched when I tried to hug her in bed.
Wait.
An horrendous thought tanged my mind the more I watched Sofie’s body language, and the way the man was smiling smugly at her.
Suddenly, it all fell into place.
I tried to stifle the urge to yank the man off his chair, fling him to the floor, and smash his wounded head more.
I concealed the anger raging within me with a smile as I stood up, and walked up to Sofie whose gaze had now averted from the man to me.
Through the corners of my eyes, I could see panic glint across the man’s eyes and my suspicions were confirmed.
So, he really was the molester and he had the fucking audacity to still be in the same proximity with Sofie.
“W-what are you doing here? Y-You didn’t tell me you were coming. I-I-” I made her swallow the rest of her words by locking lips with her in a feathery kiss.
“Hey, cara. I just wanted to give you a surprise, I promise. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to ruin it.” I said after withdrawing from the kiss.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Her stare bounced to the man before bouncing back to me, and I could clearly see the disbelief twinkling in her eyes, she thought I had something up my sleeve. Well, I did. A pistol.
And today, I was going to blow the useless fucker’s brains out with it. The thought made me giddy with a wicked sort of glee as a manic smile stretched my lips.
No one and I mean nobody born of a woman dared to touch my woman and went scot free.
Sofie attempted to utter a word and I made a sign to Nathan, to which he nodded, “Take her to the car. Mr Cornelius and I have something important to discuss, don’t we?” I smirked at the man who nodded fearfully, the sardonic grin on his face, dissipated.
“W-We do.” He said and Sofie managed to glare at him as a question escaped her lips, “What is that?” I smiled at her, “Don’t worry about it, doll.
I should be out in a few minutes to join you in the car.” She didn’t utter anymore word, and just nodded before Nathan escorted her to the car.
As soon as the door slammed shut behind them, a strangled meep made its way out of the man’s mouth as he stared at me, dread oozing from his eyes.
I could feel my patience gradually evaporating as I sat back again and felt the pistol hidden against the thick, woolen material of my trench coat.
“I-I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t mean to do it. I shouldn’t have brought this stupid character of mine over here. I should have left it in Texas. Please spare me, sir.” He babbled out, shivering fearfully on his seat.
I feigned a blank stare, “What do you mean?” The trepidation fell off his face as he gazed at me, “I didn’t know Sofie Diaz was close to you like that, sir.” My hands balled into fists, “What would have happened if you did?”
“Nothing, sir. It’s just that Miss Sofie seems to be lacking in some areas.” He said which stunned me.
Here I was thinking he was going to confess by himself, and I wouldn’t have to force the words out of his mouth but I guessed a bastard never failed to be one.
“She’s only being here for a day, so how do you know that?” I snapped, feeling fury simmer within me.
“I m-”
“Shut the hell up, Cornelius. Do you think I’m here to listen to you utter bullshit upon bullshit, huh?” I snarled, standing up from my seat.
Before he could reply, I dragged him off his chair, and roughly slammed him against the wall, taking great care to squeeze his injured head against the wall.
The source of his head injury was now obvious.
Sofie told me that she had hit the abuser on the head with a vase and bastard Cornelius had an injury, so it was now clear that she must have done it to him.
I couldn’t help but feel proud as I thought of it. Sofie was my brave petal.
“I-I- don’t understand what you mean, sir.” He said through his teeth as specks of blood trailed out of the bandage wrapped around his head.
I dug my thumb deep into the bandage, eliciting a pained groan from him.
Grinning wickedly at him, I retracted my pistol from inside my trench coat then dipped my hand into my breast pocket for a silencer which I slid over the gun before pointing it to his temple and instantly, he froze. “Do you understand what this means now?” I taunted, pressing the gun tighter to his head.
“I-I’m sorry, sir. The devil made me do it, please believe me, sir.” At this point, he was full-on sobbing.
“In your next life, you won’t even think of touching a woman again. Addio, Cornelius.” I smirked evilly at him before stepping back to cock my gun.
“I’m sorry, sir. P-please spare me,” Those were the last words he uttered before I pulled the trigger.
He gasped, clutching his chest as he slid down the wall, and lost consciousness.
No one touched my woman and lived to see the light of the next day.
