MISTAKE 202
Chapter 202: Taking her home
Anya blushed at the unexpected gesture, her checks flushing pink with embarrassment, her eyes flashing with defiance as she pouted and said, “I can still stand, Daniel. You really didn’t
have to do this.”
Daniel ignored her and turned to the other side and got in. “I you don’t behave during this period, I will not let you out,” he warned to her utmost horror.
“Why? I will turn moldy inside,” she protested.
“Then, behave,” he said as he fastened her seat belt before nodding to the driver and he started the engine and drove from the hospital.
Anya’s phone suddenly rang, breaking the sour moment between them. She fumbled with her bag, retrieving the device, her brow furrowing in caution as she checked the caller ID.
“You are married!” the person on the other end shouted the moment her phone touched her
ears.
“What nonsense are you sprouting, Emily?” Anya hurriedly said and glanced towards Daniel beside her. She sighed when she noticed that he was scrolling through his tablet.
“What do you mean? You are married and did not tell me?” Emily asked, “And of all people, Daniel Shaw?” she asked.
“It is not like I didn’t want yo,” Anya sighed tiredly, “Why do you all have such rich imaginations? And why would I keep my marriage away? Isn’t it so that I don’t scare you. Who would want to be
friends with the boss‘ wife?” she asked, glancing at the man beside her who was pretending he could not here their conversation.
“How interesting. It is not like that, but you cannot explain,” she scoffed, “I had the boss’s wife as my friend, do you know how much weight I could pull?”
“I know. More reason to not tell you. You are in a different branch but are still looking to mess with people,” Anya glanced at Daniel again when he felt Emily seemed to be talking bad about his family.
She definitely knew he could hear her, after all, the space in the car was limited, but she was sure he could not hear everything. Seeing that he did not react, she guessed that this was not the first time he had heard such words. Being powerful worked that way.
“Then can I say I know the boss. This will be good with dealing with some clients, right?” she asked and Anya wanted to tell her that she would have to prove it, but kept quiet.
“Now that I think about this, this is something out of a movie. My mother would…” Emily started to say.
“Don’t you dare tell your mother about this,” Anya cut her off before she finished. Her

reaction confused Daniel. Who was Emily’s mother?
Anya felt a headache coming. Emily’s mother was a self proclaimed psychic. She had read their fortunes and said she and Emily were related by marriage. Anya knew this woman wanted to marry Emily off, but she was not a lesbian.
“You know she has been waiting for someone back even if it is an entity and you go and get a man? She will try to rope you into finding a husband for me,” Emily said.
“Emily do not drag me into a battle with your mother. Or else, I will tell your mother you have had a crush on…” Anya said.
“Crush? What crush? I do not know why we single women need to have rumors spread about us,” Emily declared. Se could already predict that if her mother heard of a crush, she would go over and over her up on a platter.
“Good girl. I should go, I am tired,” Anya said tiredly.
“I almost forgot, Kelly said you had been injured at work. She also said you met Andrew. Why can’t that man calm down? And what is that cousin of your doing? It is as though she and anyone around her is restless. And isn’t that your husband’s company? How could he allow you to be bullied there?” Emily questioned in dissatisfaction.
“No one could have predicted it. It is that cousin of mine found out I worked here that had
someone post something on the company forum anyway. I will have to wait for what the police finds,” she answered.
“Okay then, I will let you rest. Call me after you wake up,” Emily said and Anya ended the call. When she turned to Daniel, she noticed he was still scrolling through his phone.
“This situation is done,” she said and he paused.
“Done? Anya, you are my wife. How can you be run off work. That company is mine, you can walk in however you please. What does it matter is they know you are my wife?” he asked.
“You will not even apologize for shouting at me?” she frowned.
“You are already in danger now that you are in my world. The last time you were attacked by some random person you have to be somewhere I control. You are my wife. I have no intention to let you hide in my company,” he said and she swallowed and looked away. She WAS NOT sure why she was irritated, but she contemplated divorce for a moment.
As though he could read her mind, he said, “Do not over think. A marriage is for life. Even if there was a way out. It would not work on me. I am a very dangerous man Anya. Where ever you run, I can find you,” he said darkly.
“Wow. You really said that with a straight face. And, you should stop eavesdropping on someone’s conversation,” she said and looked away.
To this, Daniel sighed. What was with her these days? Her temper was all over the place.
Chapter 202. Taking her home
The sky had turned a deep shade of indigo by the time Daniel pulled up to his elegant mansion. He carefully helped Anya out of the car, cradling her gently in his arms as he navigated the winding path to the front door.
The warm glow of the front yard light greeted them as a staff pushed open the heavy wooden door for Daniel to walk into the house.
Anya leaned her head against Daniel’s chest as he carried her into the house. He noticed the staff look to the wrapped feet in worry. They took her wheelchair from the driver at the front door and hurried after them.
With careful steps, Daniel carried Anya through the grand hallway, his footsteps echoing across the white marble floors. He ascended the sweeping staircase, carrying her so effortlessly and. Finally,
they reached the top landing, and Daniel made his way down the plush corridor to Anya’s room.
Gently, he pushed open the door and stepped inside, the soft glow of the bedside lamp casting a warm light over the room. Daniel approached the ornate bed and carefully laid Anya down on the soft mattress, tucking the covers around her with so much tender care, one would have thought he was holding a fragile egg.
Anya sighed with relief as she sank into the pillows, her eyes fluttering closed in exhaustion Daniel stood by her bedside, his gaze lingering on her delicate features, his heart churning with emotions. He could tell she was tired.
“I will have your food brought up,” he whispered, not daring to wake her too much.
“Hmm,” she answered.
“Rest now, Anya,” he whispered softly, brushing a lock of hair away from her forehead. “I’ll be right back, let me go get your food.”
And with that, Daniel turned to leave the room, his footsteps echoing faintly in the quiet stillness of the night. He returned a while later wit some light porridge. He helped her sit and started to feed her in silence. Anya dosed of as she ate, but he would wake her to take another
spoon.
Daniel and Anya woke up to his grandmother, Old Madam Rhodes sitting in the living room. The old woman had been traveling for a long while. It was normal for her to be gone for up to a year and show up. The first to come down stairs was Anya, when she walked down to see the older woman, she froze.
Old Madam Rhodes, Amanda, on the other hand smiled fondly when she saw Anya. Anya was dressed too casually and became very self conscious and Amanda, Saw this. She knew that her
grand daughter in law saw self conscious.
